Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub combined for a 138 opening partnership and Pakistan defeated the West Indies by 13 runs on Sunday to capture their T20 International Series.
Pakistan won the series opener by 14 runs but dropped the second match by two wickets to set up a Sunday night decider at Lauderhill, Florida.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Pakistan were rewarded with a powerhouse performance by Farhan and Ayub.
Pakistan went 189 for four as Farhan hammered the hosts for 74 runs on 53 balls, smashing five sixes and three fours, while Ayub lasted 19 overs, finishing on 66 from 49 balls with two sixes and four fours.
Farhan was caught by West Indies captain Shai Hope at long off from a delivery by Shamar Joseph on the second ball of the 17th over.
Hasan Nawaz entered but was retired after only 15 runs, caught by Romario Shepherd at long off from a delivery by Roston Chase on the penultimate ball of the 18th over.
Mohammad Haris was run out for only two runs by Gudakesh Motie to start the 19th over and Ayub finally exited on the last ball of the penultimate over, Jason Holder's delivery grabbed by Sherfane Rutherford at sweeper cover.
Set 190 to win, West Indies struck for 30 runs on the first 10 balls from Hasan Ali and Mohammad Nawaz.
Jewel Andrew was caught by Hasan Ali at long on, bowled by Haris Rauf for 24, the first West Indies wicket falling at 44.
Ayub caught Hope bowled out by Nawaz for seven in the ninth over with the hosts still 116 runs from victory.
Alick Athanaze lasted 13 overs before being taken for 60, caught by Khushdil Shah bowled by Ayub with West Indies on 110, needing 80 runs off the last 42 deliveries.
Chase was retired on the last ball of the 17th over and his replacement, last-ball hero Holder from the win a night earlier, was bowled out by Sufiyan Muqeem two balls later for a duck, leaving the hosts 41 runs shy with 16 balls remaining.
Rutherford smashed a six to reach a half-century with seven balls remaining before exiting on 51 as West Indies couldn't pull off another last-over comeback.

Teddy Bridgewater won't coach HS alma mater, reportedly planning another NFL comeback

Teddy Bridgewater will not coach high school football this coming season. Instead, the veteran quarterback is eyeing an NFL return, according to The Portal 305 and The Palm Beach Post. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Bridgewater, 32, led the Miami Northwestern Bulls to the Florida Class 3A state championship last season and then unretired to join the Detroit Lions. He served as Jared Goff's backup and did not appear in a regular-season game. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bridgewater is expected to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday and sign there. Last month, Bridgewater was suspended from Miami Northwestern after providing impermissible benefits to his players. The suspension stemmed from a post Bridgewater put on Facebook on July 7 where he revealed he covered Uber rides, meals and recovery services for his players last season. He asked fans to donate and cover those expenses this year so they wouldn't have to come directly from his pocket. That drew the attention of the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA). An official with the FHSAA, Kelvin Richardson, told Rivals those allegations were sent to Miami Northwestern and that the FHSAA are working to gain more information. Despite the ban, Bridgewater said he was not going anywhere and would "volunteer from the bleachers" like he'd done in the past. Bridgewater played nine NFL seasons with six teams before retiring after 2023 season, which he spent with the Lions. He threw for 15,120 yards and 75 touchdowns in 79 career games after being a first-round pick out of Louisville in 2014.

Tyrol Pickleball Expands U.S. Distribution with Kittridge & Associates, Strengthens Market Leadership with Life Time and Dan Patrick Partnerships

NAPLES, Fla., Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ - Tyrol Pickleball, the industry's first and only footwear brand purpose-built for the fast-growing sport of pickleball, has announced a major step forward in its U.S. expansion: a new sales and distribution partnership with Kittridge & Associates, a nationally recognized sales agency with a 21-person team credited for building brands like OOFOS across the U.S. Founded by performance footwear veteran Kevin Huckle in 2018, Tyrol has built its brand on specialization: footwear only, for pickleball only. With countless hours spent playing on the hot courts at the National Pickleball Center in Naples, Huckle and his wife Sharon, simply could not find a shoe that was built specifically for, and would accommodate, the unique and rigorous kinetic movements of pickleball. It simply didn't exist. Huckle found this unacceptable and got to work to create Tyrol. The brand's four foundational pillars — comfort, stability, breathability, and injury prevention — are the result of years of research into the sport's unique biomechanics. Unlike tennis shoes, Tyrol's shoes are engineered from the ground up for lateral movement, torque resistance, moisture drainage and unprecedented durability. Tyrol's credibility in performance design recently caught the attention of Vibram, the world's premier outsole maker. Vibram selected Tyrol as its pickleball footwear partner, a testament to the durability and innovation behind the brand. "Our partnership with Vibram says it all," says Huckle. "They're the best outsole company in the world, and they chose us — the only footwear brand built exclusively for pickleball — to carry their name in this category." Key commercial milestones in 2025 include: Exclusive footwear sponsor of The Life Time Open, a newly launched elite tournament backed by PPA and MLP. The October event features an unprecedented $250,000 in total prize money, including $50,000 to both men's and women's champions, attracting the best pickleball players from around the world. Media partnership with The Dan Patrick Show via iHeartRadio, positioning Tyrol at the center of sports culture and fandom. Patrick, a devoted pickleball player himself, personally sought out the brand due to its unmatched focus and performance and launched this partnership at the recent NFL Draft in Green Bay, WI, where players, coaches and media were introduced to the Tyrol difference. "As the sport of pickleball explodes in both recreational and competitive circles, we're seeing footwear become a true performance differentiator," says Huckle. "Our partnership with Kittridge gives us extensive reach in the U.S. and ensures retailers can tap into this fast-growing, equipment-hungry customer base." With a centrally located warehouse in Indianapolis, and operations in both the U.S. and Canada, Tyrol is poised to become the dominant name in pickleball footwear. Retailers, event sponsors, and media partners looking to ride the sport's explosive wave now have a dedicated, proven brand to turn to. The England selection decision looming large before The Ashes

On a quiet autumn afternoon at Lord's in October, captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum will meet national selector Luke Wright and ECB director Rob Key to pick England's Ashes squad. Wright used to be the one who would make the phone calls, delivering the good news and the painful blows, but McCullum has since taken on that responsibility, seeing it as his duty to speak personally and honestly with each player. Wright will often follow up with a call to those closest to the cut to explain the decision in more detail and discuss a path for their return. Wright will have spent the summer receiving briefings from scouts across county cricket and beyond, while analysts will have drilled down through deep data wells to model whose game will suit the Australian summer. The reality, however, is that McCullum is a man who trusts his gut over spreadsheets and algorithms, and his squad is mostly set. There is little chance to alter minds now, with no more Tests between Monday's dramatic finale at The Oval and the first ball in Perth in November. England already have their top seven set in stone, despite the struggles of Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley. The seam attack starts to pick itself if fitness allows, with Mark Wood and Jofra Archer requiring cryogenic preservation over the autumn in time to thaw in the Australian sun. What did England learn from this compelling series with India, what golden lessons can they take with them on the plane? Not many. England will face a very different bowling attack in contrasting conditions on other-worldly surfaces compared to the flat roads of home, with the Kookaburra ball in hand. Playing India at Headingley on the solstice and Australia at the MCG on Boxing Day are both, technically, incidents of elite Test cricket, but they are entirely unique endeavours. England, and cricket, will undoubtedly have picked up some new fans over the past few weeks, and it is only right that they are made aware of the humbling circle on which the Test game runs: your team will compete gamely in home conditions, looking genuinely good at this, before travelling to a far-flung part of the world where most of their skills will become irrelevant. England have at least reaffirmed a few things. Crawley averaged about 30 here and will forever average about 30. Ben Duckett will be occasionally magnificent and get out to the straight ball. Pope will get out. England have the best middle order in the world. England's bowling attack isn't quite good enough. Gus Atkinson remains the most likely seamer to join Archer and Wood when fit, and he will be required to put in an almighty shift when they're not. Brydon Carse will have a big part to play, Josh Tongue is dangerous when he finds his radar, while Jamie Overton was less effective albeit able to hit 90mph at The Oval – he is a favourite of McCullum, and Key has spoken about pace as an essential tool in Australia. Other were questions left unanswered, like what to do with Jacob Bethell's uncorked talent. His summer carrying drinks was not particularly instructive, or beneficial for his development. Will he spend the winter being dragged around Australia as England's back-up batter? There will at least be some Lions games alongside the Tests in which to build red-ball experience. Chris Woakes may not have been in line to travel anyway but his dislocated shoulder will further damage his chances. The more significant shoulder injury is Ben Stokes, who must be fit to bat, bowl and throw himself around the field for five Tests if England are to pull off a first series win over Australia since 2015. And then there is the question of spin. Will England need a front-line spinner in every Test? Yes, certainly, insisted Ricky Ponting this week, even in Perth where pace prevails. Ponting endorsed Shoaib Bashir, whose height and bounce he likened to Nathan Lyon and whose off-breaks could find some turn in Mitchell Starc's foot marks. Bashir had his moments against India, winning the Lord's Test with the final wicket of Mohammed Siraj before a broken finger ended his series. But if he is picked for an Australian pitch which later fails to degrade into a turning track, there is little upside in a 21-year-old whose batting and fielding are akin to that of a garden cricketer. Liam Dawson didn't seize his chance at Old Trafford and that may ultimately count against him, and against the notion that the County Championship is the place to find Test players. Jack Leach is bowling well for Somerset and carries rich Ashes hinterland while Tom Hartley has impressed for Lancashire this summer. But once you've been dropped from McCullum's Test side, it is notoriously difficult to earn a recall on county form. Rehan Ahmed is the wildcard, a genuine all-rounder who could even replace Pope at No 3 should England need a reshuffle during the series. Ahmed is still raw and his leg-spin is not a typically English weapon, but he would complement Joe Root's off-breaks when Stokes needs variety in attack. Yet it is Bashir who still holds the spinner's place right now. He is a pet project that Key and McCullum started back in 2023, at a Lions training camp in the UAE when they were wowed by his smooth style and high release, and chose to catapult him into the Test team. When they sit down with Stokes and Wright in October, there will be many names to discuss and scenarios to consider. But if there's one thing we know about Bazball, rarely does it lose faith in its chosen ones. Ashes 2025-26 Test matches First Test, Optus Stadium in Perth: 21-25 November Second Test, Gabba in Brisbane: 4-8 December Third Test, Adelaide Oval in Adelaide: 17-21 December (day-night Test) Fourth Test, MCG in Melbourne: 26-30 December Fifth Test, SCG in Sydney: 4-8 January
