Ulster handed tough Challenge Cup draw as Paris pair await Richie Murphy's young side
Along with the French duo and the South African tourists, Ulster have also been paired with former European champions the Exeter Chiefs and fellow URC side Cardiff in Pool Three.
However, the province will have to wait to find out who they will face at home and away, with the schedule dictating that they face only four of their fellow five pool members in order to determine who progresses to the knockout stages.
Fixtures will be determined using an algorithm which will take into consideration league calendar restrictions, individual club calendar restrictions, broadcast requirements and the pool draws.
It is believed that Ulster are most likely not to face Cardiff as EPCR try to avoid inter-League matches where possible, however other factors may mean they will have to face the Welsh side.
On the face of it, it is a tough draw for Murphy's men, who have been handed a former European champion, a three-time Champions Cup finalist and two former Challenge Cup champions in their pool.
Racing 92 are the premier club with their galactico squad at their disposal that contains the likes of France captain Gaël Fickou and fellow internationals Demba Bamba, Nolann le Garrec and Cameron Woki, as well as Australian prop Taniela Tupou.
The two sides have met as recently as December 2023 when Ulster triumphed 31-15 at Ravenhill in a Champions Cup clash, with this meeting the fourth in the pair's history.
There will be plenty of Ulster fans who will be eagerly anticipating the rematch with Stade Francais after the pair's infamous last meeting in 2009 when Stephen Ferris was eye-gouged by David Attoub, who received a 70-week ban for his actions.
No longer a European powerhouse, the Parisians still boast a strong squad led by mercurial French full-back Léo Barré and will be a stern test for this young Ulster squad.
The Cheetahs will be an intriguing prospect, too, the South Africans playing their home matches in Amsterdam as opposed to Bloemfontein, with Ulster set for their first meeting with the former Pro14 side since they left the League in 2020.
And there will be a quick rematch with Exeter, whom Ulster defeated at Ravenhill back in January to book their place in the last-16 of the Champions Cup, in the pool stages as well, Rob Baxter's former European champions having fallen away in recent years but still a threat thanks to the likes of Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, Henry Slade and Ross Vintcent.

Hundreds of German fans march through Lurgan before football tie is completed after 65 years
The streets turned purple as supporters of third-tier side Erzgebirge Aue walked to Mourneview Park before the match against Glenavon. Some enjoyed sampling Buckfast - one impressed visitor said he couldn't believe how good it tasted. The event had been given the go-ahead by the Parades Commission, who approved a request for up to 1,100 participants to march. It was all to mark the conclusion of a European tie halted by the Cold War in the early Sixties. Glenavon had qualified for the European Cup as Irish League champions. But they were prevented from completing their 1960–61 tie against Erzgebirge Aue as the Iron Curtain fell across Europe. The team was forced to withdraw after being refused visas to travel to East Germany. Their opponents, then known as Wismut, were likewise denied entry by the British embassy in Berlin. Last year the Lurgan side finally fulfilled the first leg of that long-postponed encounter when they travelled to the German side's town in the Saxony region, south of Berlin. That game ended in a 5-0 win for the Germans. And today, Erzgebirge Aue supporters were in Lurgan for the second leg, which kicked off at Mourneview Park at 2pm. They included members of the 'Violet Bikers' — the team's motorcycle supporters' club — who travelled across Europe in a motorcade. Fans gathered at Brownlow House before setting off on the route, via Union Street, to the stadium. On the way they sang club songs and crossed their arms - symbolising a hammer and chisel in a nod to their home town's mining past. Veit Barthel took time out to sample some Buckfast - declaring that it made him 'feel fantastic'. He said: 'I was out last night in Belfast and feeling a bit rough when I woke up. 'But on the train a Glenavon fan suggested trying a bottle of Buckfast to help me recover. 'It said feels fantastic - I can't believe how good it is. 'My friends are all beer drinkers but I prefer sweeter things, and I really liked Buckfast.' Adam Carson, the supporters' liaison officer at Glenavon, said they wanted to reciprocate the hospitality his team's fans received in Germany last summer. 'The welcome we got when we went over there was second to none,' he said this week. 'I always say to people, if we were lucky enough to play in Europe every single year, from now to the end of time, we'll never get another welcome like the way we did last year at Aue." On Friday night, some of the fans were at Windsor Park to see Dungannon Swifts beat Linfield on penalties in the Charity Shield.

Lille transfer for Rangers' Hamza Igamane could be off
French club Lille are keen on the forward, and talks had reached an advanced stage. However, the fee Rangers are demanding might now be a stumbling block. L'Equipe has reported that the Ligue 1 side are "studying other profiles besides that of the Moroccan international," despite ongoing discussions with Rangers. Lille have already signed Olivier Giroud and are close to securing Vivaldo Semedo from Udinese. Read more: They might now look elsewhere to strengthen their forward line. Earlier reports suggested that Igamane was not a priority for Lille, as Semedo had emerged as a target. However, they were still planning to pursue a deal later in the transfer window. Rangers manager Russell Martin is keen to strengthen the squad with some of the funds that could be generated from selling Igamane. So far, he has brought in Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell, and Emmanuel Fernandez, as well as Lyall Cameron, who had already been signed on a pre-contract agreement. Thelo Aasgaard and Nasser Djiga are also expected to join the squad soon.

Bournemouth finalising RB Leipzig coup as Cherries hold defender contract talks
Bournemouth are poised to confirm key changes to Andoni Iraola's backroom team as the Cherries continue to pursue a number of transfer targets for the ambitious Spaniard Bournemouth are finalising the impressive capture of RB Leipzig club doctor Robert Percy Marshall. Marshall, who worked with Cherries stars Justin Kluivert and Tyler Adams during a seven-year spell with the German outfit, is set to replace departing performance director Jay Mellette. Mirror Football understands Mellette is poised to return to owner Bill Foley's ice-hockey team Vegas Golden Knights after two years at the Vitality Stadium. Marshall's impending arrival on the South Coast remains subject to a language exam plus a successful visa application, respectively. Meanwhile, Bournemouth are in active talks with defender Marcos Senesi over a new contract but an agreement with the 28-year-old is not yet close. The Argentine international centre-back has attracted interest from Villarreal, Real Sociedad and Roma as he's now entered the final 12 months of his existing deal. Still, the Cherries would like to keep Senesi and are also pursuing a move for £30million-rated Lille centre-back Bafode Diakite in a bid to strengthen Andoni Iraola's backline. The Spaniard has already lost Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez to Real Madrid and Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are refusing to give up on Illia Zabarnyi despite seeing two bids rejected. Bournemouth are holding firm on their £60million valuation of the Ukrainian, who is keen to join the newly-crowned European champions. The Cherries have also shown an interest in Lazio's Mario Gila but there is recognition a deal would likely prove complex as Real Madrid have a 50 per cent sell-on clause. Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez is also on Bournemouth's radar but they are yet to approach the Belgian club despite suggestions a bid has been lodged. Personal terms with Lille's Diakite are believed to be in place but so far, an agreement has not been reached with Lille. Nantes' Nathan Zeze, a France U21 international, is another name of interest as Bournemouth now focus their effort on bolstering the numbers within Iraola's squad. Earlier this week, the Cherries confirmed that star forward Antoine Semenyo, who was being eyed by the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, has signed a new lucrative contract to extend his stay at the Vitality Stadium.
