How many wins will Auburn earn in 2025? ESPN's Greg McElroy weighs in

An upgraded roster should propel Auburn to a winning season says the former Alabama quarterback.
Auburn football finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record, but was a few plays away from having a completely different season.
Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has worked this offseason to upgrade his roster, enhancing several areas, including wide receiver, offensive line, defensive back, and quarterback. Will those upgrades push Auburn into a winning season? One ESPN analyst thinks so.
During a recent episode of his Always College Football show, ESPN analyst and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy weighed in on Auburn's projected win total, saying that he "loves" the idea of Auburn turning in a winning product in 2024, starting with Jackson Arnold as a replacement for Payton Thorne at quarterback. McElroy looks for Arnold to overwrite issues that plagued Thorne last season.
'I mean, flat out, there's no denying it, if (Thorne) doesn't turn the ball over against Cal, if the turnovers don't happen against Oklahoma, if they don't start the backup (Hank Brown) against Arkansas, I think it's a very different season for the Auburn Tigers (in 2024),' McElroy said.
Outside of roster improvements, McElroy believes that a hot start is vital for the Tigers. A strong win over Baylor to open the season and road wins over Texas A&M and/or Oklahoma will put Auburn at four or five wins before hosting Georgia to begin the October slate, which will carry momentum into the rest of the season.
So, what is McElroy's prediction for Auburn's 2025 win total?
'So yes, I think, Auburn absolutely will have a winning season this year. I'd be surprised if it's not eight or nine wins,' McElroy said.
Auburn begins the season on Friday, Aug. 29, at Baylor. The Tigers also have a favorable schedule that features home games against Georgia and Alabama, and an SEC slate with five teams that won eight or fewer games last season.

Eagles rookie Ty Robinson receives another positive endorsement

The buzz keeps building as an Eagles rookie earns more praise from the media. This is probably a safe guess. Since you've watched the Philadelphia Eagles all your life, those of you who also love the college game have probably kept one eye on the Big Ten. These days, that's certainly harder than ever as it's now two schools short of becoming 'The Big 20'. Even with all of that being said, your Pennsylvania affiliations more than likely kept you from watching a ton of Nebraska football. Tom Osborne left a long time ago, and if we're being honest, most Eagles fans lost track of Matt Rhule after Philadelphia beat his Carolina Panthers in Week 5 of the 2021 season. The 2025 NFL Draft brought about some changes. Philadelphia drafted a Nebraska Cornhusker in Round 4, and though discipline tells us not to put too much stock in a rookie until he has played meaningful snaps, it's hard not to be excited. This guy's nickname is the 'Vanilla Gorilla' for Heaven's sake. ESPN's Tim McManus names Ty Robinson's selection as the Eagles' most underrated move They say offense sells tickets, and defense wins championships. One of the most significant talking points we've heard all offseason is the number of players lost from the defensive roster. Frankly, that take seems overstated. One of those weapons is rookie Ty Robinson, the aforementioned 'Vanilla Gorilla'. Gosh, it's easy to fall in love with that nickname, and it's easy to love what Tim McManus said about him. Tim is ESPN's Eagles insider, and he recently participated in an NFC East roundtable. Once the topic turned to each team's most underrated move, Robinson earned his shout-out. "Drafting DT Ty Robinson in the fourth round (was Philly's most underrated move). With minimal contact during OTA and minicamp practices, the offseason program isn't exactly conducive to properly evaluating linemen. But that hasn't stopped some of his new teammates from speaking highly of the Nebraska product. "That boy is fire, I ain't going to lie," DT Jalen Carter said. "He's moving good. He's a big boy. ... I think he's going to have a big impact this season." Robinson's NCAA career ended with 134 tackles, including 27 for loss. He also racked up a dozen sacks and 12 pass breakups. He earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in his swan song with the Cornhuskers last season. This next part, however, is the best part of the story. Rhule gave him a single-digit jersey number, an honor reserved for the tough players on his team who have earned his respect. Ladies and gentlemen, we all loved Milton Williams and are sorry he's gone, but Ty Robinson isn't going to settle into this defense just fine.

Should the Nets be worried about their 2025 NBA Draft class?

The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2025 NBA Draft with arguably the most divisive performance due to the players they drafted along with using all of their picks. Brooklyn made sure to prioritize players who could begin their careers as ball-handlers with the potential to be more for a rebuilding Nets squad, but there seems to be plenty of people criticizing Brooklyn's decisions. "I got some people telling me some things about Brooklyn, people are making fun of these draft picks," ESPN's Brian Windhorst said (h/t to Bleacher Report's Doric Sam) during the broadcast of the NBA Draft when discussing the selections that the Nets made. One of the most-criticized decisions that Brooklyn made was selecting BYU guard Egor Demin with the eighth overall pick, much earlier than most of the draft experts expected. Advertisement Windhorst continued by saying "I got people saying to me, executives and agents, they're like, 'I was watching them play three two-way guys during this year so that they can clap for taking the guys they've chosen.' He's like, 'These two-way guys might be just as good as the guys they've taken.'" As Windhorst referenced, the Nets played a lot of guys last season and most of them are perceived to be players who may have a hard time sticking around the league. In total, Brooklyn drafted Demin, French guard Nolan Traore (19th overall pick), UNC forward Drake Powell (22nd as part of a multi-team trade with the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics), Israeli guard Ben Saraf (26th), and Michigan forward Danny Wolf (27th). Based on mock drafts, it looks like the Nets reached on Demin and Powell while the other three selections seemed to be about where they were expected to go. For a team like Brooklyn, getting their first star player in the draft is key to the franchise progressing through this rebuild in a way that allows them to think about being a playoff team within the next few seasons. Many, if not all, of the players that the Nets took are projects, but if a couple of them pan out, this could be a draft that got everything started for Brooklyn.
