When Ridhi Dogra Was Asked If She Wanted To Attend SRK's Om Shanti Om Premiere
Last Updated:
Ridhi Dogra recalled her memorable experience at the Om Shanti Om premiere, which was a whirlwind of emotions, with Deepika Padukone's debut making a lasting impression.
Can a single night change the course of your life? For Ridhi Dogra, crashing the grand Om Shanti Om bash was a moment that would stay with her forever. Long before she became a household name, the Jawan actress had a brush with Bollywood glamour that was both unexpected and unforgettable. In a recent interview, Ridhi opened up about her daring move and the memories that lingered.
In a candid conversation with Curly Tales, Ridhi Dogra took a trip down memory lane, recalling her early days at Zoom Television, where she was still navigating the media landscape. Film journalist Omar Qureshi, a senior colleague, would often receive invites to A-list film screenings and events, and he'd generously offer Ridhi and her peers a chance to tag along.
'He asked us who wanted to attend screenings for Saawariya or Om Shanti Om, and I jumped at the chance to watch Om Shanti Om," Ridhi reminisced, a smile still playing on her lips as she recounted the thrill of rubbing shoulders with Bollywood's elite.
But little did Ridhi know, she was about to walk into a star-studded event. As she entered Yash Raj Studios, she was swept into a whirlwind of glamour and excitement, unaware that she was about to witness one of Bollywood's most epic premieres. 'I had no idea what I was getting into. I thought I was just going to watch a film, but the entire film industry was there," she revealed, still in awe of the magnitude of the event.
She further revealed that the event was attended by many big names, including legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, as well as talented divas such as Rani Mukerji, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor. And then, of course, there were the stars of the show: Shah Rukh Khan and debutant Deepika Padukone, alongside veteran icon Rekha.
'I was completely starstruck. I felt out of place and overwhelmed. Deepika was so shy – it was her first film, and I was feeling like I didn't belong. Back then, we didn't take selfies with stars, and you couldn't just stare; there was a sense of reverence and shyness that added to the magic of the night," she confessed.
On the professional front, Ridhi Dogra was recently seen in the JioHotstar series Kull, which began streaming on May 2.

Vidya Balan slams pretentious cinema, says SRK's romance worked because of emotion
Actor Vidya Balan recently shared her thoughts on how today's films feel disconnected from the traditional Indian style of storytelling. She also praised Shah Rukh Khan for the emotional connect he brings to his roles. While she hasn't done a full film with him, Vidya has appeared alongside him in 'Heyy Babyy' and the popular song 'Deewangi Deewangi' from 'Om Shanti Om'. She said, 'Maybe a lot of these filmmakers, probably they have studied abroad or watched too much international content. They are not assisting directors. I may sound like too much of a senior when I say this, but I don't think they know what our kind of storytelling is! They are not familiar with it, so it is alienating. It is not engrossing me.'Highlighting her love for masala entertainers, she added, 'I am enjoying the masala films because it is not pretentious. A lot of these directors - they don't even use close-ups. I find that shocking. The only way to connect with your character is through a close-up. Give me close-ups! Let me look into the eye! That's how the nation fell in love with Shah Rukh Khan for God's sake! Imagine if he was only doing this (imitating arms-stretched wide pose), he won't be as loved!'advertisement Shah Rukh Khan, known for his evergreen romantic films like 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', and 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai', was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki' in 2023. Like Ranbir Kapoor, Kussh Sinha admits working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was tough: 'I had enough...'
Like Ranbir Kapoor, Kussh Sinha admits working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was tough: 'I had enough...'| Exclusive Filmmaker Kussh S Sinha, son of veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and brother to actress Sonakshi Sinha is all set to make his directorial debut with the film Nikita Roy. Despite hailing from a prominent film family, Kussh's journey into filmmaking was far from easy. Before stepping into direction, he gained hands-on experience by working behind-the-camera in various fields such as photography, production, and visual development. After studying film direction at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, he went on to assist renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of Saawariya (2007). Kussh Sinha, like Ranbir Kapoor, had to quit midway while assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali? Ranbir Kapoor, before marking his Bollywood debut with Saawariya, worked as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of Black (2005) . At a 2021 event, the Tamasha actor recalled that Bhansali was extremely strict, sometimes to the point of being physically and verbally harsh. He recounted, 'When I assisted Mr. Bhansali on Black, he used to really treat me as an assistant director. I used to be kneeling down for hours, he used to hit us, he used to abuse us… that only hardens you and prepares you for the world.' The actor further revealed that intense pressure and emotional strain ultimately led him to step away from the project. Kussh Sinha recalls working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali Similarly, Kussh who started his career as an assistant director to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, also faced intense pressure during his collaboration with the acclaimed filmmaker. In an exclusive interview with Kussh stated, 'Mr Bhansali had a way of working. During Saawariya, I went there as an assistant director, I do believe that at that point I might have said some things, maybe some things that I shouldn't have let them happen, but I was very young at that time.' He admitted that working with Bhansali was challenging and not suited for thin-skinned. Kussh recalled, 'So, yeah, it was tough environment, I would say you definitely have to understand yourself as a person, whether you can handle that tough environment or not.' The reason why Kussh Sinha didn't work Sanjay Leela Bhansali anymore… Kussh eventually had to walk away from the sets of Sawaariya due to internal-team conflict. 'I could manage that environment, but frankly there was an issue at some point which when I decided that I had enough, because there was some inter-team conflict. It was getting out of hand. So again, I could handle it, but it depends on person-to-person.' He said. Although Bhansali gave a hard time to Ranbir when he worked as an AD, Kussh still remarked that he received a terrific launch in the industry because of him. 'Ranbir was an AD with him. When he worked with him, he became a star at some degree because of him, I wouldn't say all of it because of Bhansali, but definitely that launch, that entry, that larger-than-life-persona the visual that Mr Bhansali presented him with that some of added into Ranbir's entry into films.' He said. About Nikita Roy Meanwhile, Kussh Sinha's directorial debut Nikita Roy is all set to release on July 18. Originally scheduled for June 27, the release was postponed due to heavy traffic of movies this weekend, including Kajol's horror-thriller Maa and Akshay Kumar's multi-starrer mythological drama Kannappa. Written by Pavan Kirpalani, Kussh Sinha's mystery thriller stars Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal in key roles.

Not Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Allu Arjun, Yash, THIS is the only Indian actor to give two Rs 1000 crore Pan-India films, name is...
Even a superstar like Salman Khan couldn't save Sikandar from mixed reviews. Yet, fans still filled seats, proving that name value and charisma still drive success, just like Prabhas, who didn't rely on hits alone but carved his path with sheer pan-India appeal. How did Prabhas surpass even the biggest names? Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan both crossed Rs 1,000 crore globally—but they remained primarily Hindi films with dubbed versions, not full pan-India productions. Similarly, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 entered the club but stood alone among his works, and Vicky Kaushal fell short despite his star presence. Prabhas, however, achieved it not once, but twice—with films shot, dubbed, and marketed across multiple languages—earning him the title of true pan-India superstar. What made his first Rs 1,000 crore blockbuster, Baahubali 2, legendary? In 2017, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion shattered records, earning Rs 1,788 Cr globally and Rs 1,030 Cr domestically. Prabhas' portrayal of father-son royalty, combined with epic visuals and timeless drama, elevated regional cinema's reach into a nationwide phenomenon. Then Kalki 2898 AD arrived Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD brought a futuristic vision rooted in the Mahabharata mythos. Co-starring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, it crossed the Rs 1,000 Cr worldwide mark again, grossing Rs 1,042 Cr globally and Rs 646 Cr in India. A year on, a sequel is already green-lit, confirming Prabhas' cinematic universe ambitions. What's next? The actor is now all set for his upcoming projects, The Raaja Saab – a triple-role, romantic-horror-comedy by Maruthi with co-stars Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan & Sanjay Dutt. Fauji – directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, promising gritty intensity. Spirit – a Sandeep Reddy Vanga mytho-horror that saw Triptii Dimri replace Deepika. Brahmarakshas – with Prasanth Varma, building more high-concept mysticism. Is Prabhas India's first true pan‑India star? By delivering two Rs 1,000 crore multilingual films, Prabhas hasn't just stood among the greats—he redefines what it means to be a pan‑India star. His journey continues, building universes of myth, magic, and mega-returns.
