Discontinued 'best crisps to ever exist' are finally back after 20 years
After 20 years off the shelves, crisp brand Discos is bringing back its pickled onion flavour.
Owned by KP Snacks, pickled onion Discos were last seen on supermarket shelves way back in 2005, but they'll make a highly anticipated return to UK supermarkets on August 27.
The news comes after snackers begged KP to reintroduce the flavour — there was even a Change.org petition launched.
One fan said on Reddit: 'Loved [pickled onion Discos] growing up.
'They replaced it with Prawn Cocktail many years ago and while it is nice… it does not hold a candle to the mouth watering taste orgasm of pickled onion discos.'
Others shared the same enthusiasm saying: 'These were THE best crisps to ever exist. Point blank. Period.'
Another even said they 'used to eat 5 packets at a time.'
Kerry on X labelled pickled onion Discos 'the best crisps ever' while back in 2018, 13 years after the snack was last seen, @ScottMcGready wrote: 'I'm still really upset that @KPSnacks's pickled onion Discos got discontinued.'
Another wrote: 'I am once again on my knees asking for pickled onion flavoured Discos to be brought back.'
Amy Heap, marketing manager at Discos shared the excitement, saying: 'This legendary flavour has been a fan favourite for years, and its mouth-tingling tang is guaranteed to take your snack game to the next level.
'Whether you've loved them forever or you're just discovering their iconic punch, we can't wait for you to tear open a bag and try them.'
While shoppers claim they used to spend just 20p on the snack, its returning at a cost of £1.35 for a 70g bag.
But Discos aren't the only one to be bringing back some discontinued goodies. More Trending
Maltesers confirmed that the white chocolate version of the iconic treat was making a comeback after 11 years, and it's now in stores.
First launched in 2003, White Chocolate Maltesers were a fan-favourite before being discontinued in 2014 and people have spent more than a decade begging for them to return.
A retro 80s sweet has also returned to supermarkets – Opal Fruits. Today they're better known by a very different name, as they were rebranded as Starburst in the late 90s.
The sweets are being sold in 138g pouches containing strawberry, lemon, orange and lime flavours.

Which means many will already be looking for a similarly high-stakes, morally complex series to watch next. And TommyRobotX added of the Korean series: 'Despite the lower stakes, they somehow made it harder to watch (anxiety) than Squid Game.' Meanwhile, Dazzling_Pipe_9910 also mentioned The 8 Show, but preferred revenge thriller The Glory. They said: 'I watched The 8 Show and The Glory after Season 2 of Squid Game…The Glory is definitely worth watching and has left a lasting impression. I'd recommend.' Another user, Pettyyoungthing, suggested Alice in Borderland, which proved to be a huge hit on Netflix when it was first released in 2020. They explained: '[It's a] Japanese show where [people] get stuck in a mix of Hunger Games and Squid Game type scenario. Hijinx ensue'. And ChattyWalker suggested dark thriller Bargain, on Paramount Plus, writing: 'It's a hell of a ride! Only 6 episodes, unfortunately, but a nice binge.' One user suggested 3%, a Brazilian series available on Netflix. Explaining the plot, they wrote: 'The majority of the population live on the improvised 'inland' and, at the age of 20, people compete to become the 3% of humanity that gets to live in the affluent 'offshore' community.' A K-drama that's received lots of comparisons to Squid Game, The 8 Show focuses on eight strangers, each facing serious financial trouble, who agree to join a dangerous reality TV show as a way of earning money. Meanwhile, Google reviewer Sarah wrote: 'This is one of the best TV series I have ever watched! Season one reminded me a lot of Squid Game mixed with a little bit of Hunger Games but leaves off with a better cliffhanger.' Discontinued 'best ever' crisp flavour returns after 20 years off shelves
Crisp fans are rejoicing after finding out that a beloved classic will be returning to UK shelves - some 20 years after being discontinued. Pickled Onion Discos, owned by KP Snacks, were taken off shop shelves way back in 2005. But now, they will be coming back in a highly-anticipated return, with the tangy flavour destined to return to shops on August 27. In 2022, several X (formerly Twitter) users spoke wistfully of the discontinued flavour. One said: 'Pickled onion disco were the best.' Another agreed, writing: 'Bring back Pickled Onion Disco crisps.' In 2023, another agreed, saying: 'Disco's pickled onion. Was the underrated best crisp. RIP.' The snack had such a cult following, that in October 2017, a petition was launched calling for their return. It read: 'These crisps were by far the best tasting pickled onion crisps on the market! Fellow crisp lovers help bring these back!' The petition was promoted on Reddit, where crisp fans on Reddit in 2023, where snack fans discussed their disappointment that the snack had been discontinued. One wrote: 'Loved these growing up. They replaced it with Prawn Cocktail many years ago and while it is nice... It does not hold a candle to the mouth watering taste orgasm of pickled onion discos. 'I found a petition to bring them back [...] This is an important cause folks. Maybe one day we will have those pickle drenched salty discs melting on our tongues once more.' Now these fans will no doubt be delighted at confirmation that the snack will be back. According to a statement by Amy Heap, marketing manager at Discos, the brand is very excited about the return of the treat. She said: 'This legendary flavour has been a fan favourite for years, and its mouth-tingling tang is guaranteed to take your snack game to the next level. 'Whether you've loved them forever or you're just discovering their iconic punch, we can't wait for you to tear open a bag and try them.' However, while the flavour is the same, one thing is changing - the price tag. According to shoppers, the crisps used to cost 20p a bag. When they return at the end of August, they will reportedly have an RRP of £1.35 for a 70g bag.

'I'm 28 and have never been kissed but I think men lack important quality'
Most people have shared their first kiss with someone they fancy by the age of 28, but one woman explained why she'd chosen not to kiss anyone - and she's concerned about dating too A woman has shared that she's never been kissed at the age of 28, but it doesn't bother her too much right now because she believes that she hasn't met a man with qualities she admires thus far. She shared that she's "in a really good place" in her life, saying she's the "happiest" she's ever been "physically and mentally," as she's " active" with a "stable job". However, when it comes to the romance element of her life, she just can't seem to crack the code. She admitted that she didn't know what to do, because she'd recently deleted dating apps, and just wasn't sure about how to meet men "organically" who are actually "nice". She took to Reddit 's 'Ask' forum to explain: "Last summer, I decided to download dating apps and only went on two dates with two different guys months apart. "The first one was nice, but it didn't work out because of my communication (you live and you learn). The second guy was a total creep who made me want to take a self-defence class afterwards". She continued by explaining she keeps "downloading and redownloading" dating apps, but she grew "frustrated with the entire experience". "I receive a good amount of likes and match with a fair number of men, but no one ever really talks. And honestly, I didn't try that hard cause of the idea that 'oh there's always another option out there'," she explained. The woman then explained that because she'd been to Coachella in April, she didn't miss dating apps as she was having "the time of her life" and she "never felt happier". But now the excitement has died down and she's feeling like she wants to date again, she admitted that she didn't know what to do. She ended her post by writing: "How do I meet a nice guy? I'm nearing my 30s, and I feel like I should be doing something to meet people. Just looking for thoughts here and maybe a little encouragement". In the comments, someone pointed out that you have to be open to connection to receive connection, penning: "It seems like everyone lives very atomised lives now. Get up. Wash teeth. Check Social Media. Eat breakfast or gym. Wear headphones and use phone / tablet throughout. Commute to work. "Watch something at your desk with a sandwich. Commute home, cook for one, watch Netflix then bed by 9. Our daily lives are engineered so it is easy to avoid real human connections if we so wish. "You can only meet people if your eyes are looking and your ears are listening. Change your routines. Seek new interests just to meet new people or rekindle old interests. If your friends are in relationships, ask them have they any single friends. "You have to put yourself out there unless you are a particularly attractive person. The reason people often meet in University is often because there is a social expectation or pressure, even, to socialise. "As we get older, that pressure eases and we get a bit too comfortable with our own company. The problem is, you [have to] hope a lot more of your generation does too". The woman responded, agreeing, saying that she wanted "human connection," with somebody likening dating apps to "Amazon shopping lists". One man said: "Go to a board gaming event near you. Us single men are there". A Redditor recommended: "Go to good areas to meet good people. Having barely any experience is a double-edged sword. Please be careful and aware of red flags and have the strength to walk away". Another offered lovely advice, writing: "Just try and meet people regardless of gender. Enjoy yourself and pick up some hobbies and just meet people organically and things will fall into place. Smile, laugh, have fun. It will all work out".
