Countdown to Kickoff: Emmett Mosley V

Texas had star transfer WRs the past two season with Adonai Mitchell and Matthew Golden. Could Mosley follow their lead and become a star for Texas? The Texas portal class was tons of defensive tackles, special teamers and a single WR that was added in the spring window. That guy is Emmett Mosley V, coming in from Stanford after a very productive freshman season. He is joined by another transfer pass catcher in Jack Endries, but Mosley steps into a room with a multitude of opportunities. How will he fit? 2024 Stats: 48 catches, 525 yards(10.9 yards/catch), 6 TDs Mosley was a very productive freshman for the Cardinal, only trailing Elic Ayomanor in receiving yards. Ayomanor has since moved onto the NFL and the Longhorns were able to snag Mosley late in the process. He fits into the Texas offense perfectly. Last year, he did a ton of his damage after the catch, very comfortable catching screens and making something happen after the catch. That doesn't take away from his 50/50 ball ability. At 6'2', 205 lbs, he is also a massive plus blocker outside, which is a must in the Texas offense. The next question is can they get Matthew Golden production from him? The good news is I don't think they will need it, with Wingo and Moore setting up to lead the way, but Mosley could be a massive factor. He figures to be a starter come Week 1, and while much of the Buckeyes attention will be paid to Ryan Wingo, Mosley could be set up for success early and often. While only playing in nine games a year ago, he was able to go over 100 yards twice. He truly broke out in the Louisville game, where he caught 13 passes for 168 yards and 3 scores. He totaled 332 of his 525 yards and 5 of his 6 TDs in the final three games of the season. He has already gotten rave reviews early in fall camp as he continues to get comfortable in the offense. Stanford transfer WR Emmett Mosley went through his first practice for Texas today taking second-team reps. Expect him to help the perimeter blocking for the Longhorns in addition to his receiving skills. #HookEm Sarkisian and company have always approached the transfer portal selectively. They will go all in on a position of need, but are very specific about adding to rooms they already like. This staff seems to feel very confident in the young WR core they have, but the addition of Mosley seems to be the perfect fit into this room. Only time will tell how impactful of an addition Mosley will be, but all signs point positively. His strengths fit the Texas offense very well, he fills a perceived hole in red zone 50/50 balls and brings more experience(while still young) into a room that needs it. As important of an addition Mosley could be, the guy we will get to tomorrow figures to be even more important. Jack Endries comes in as one of the top TEs in the country and figures to fill the Gunnar Helm void in the Texas offense. We will talk about why he is the perfect fit to do that tomorrow. Mimi Rhodes sinks hole-in-one off another golf ball at Women's British Open

Mimi Rhodes, you wizard. Tip your cap. On Sunday, whether it was designed or not, the young Ladies European Tour golfer masterfully played the par-3, 214-yard Hole 3 during the 2025 AIG Women's British Open at Royal Porthcawl in Porthcawl, Wales, for a hole-in-one. Rhodes' ace, however, didn't come without some help, as it ricocheted off Stephanie Kyriacou's ball that was placed inches away from the hole to bounce in. My. My. Mimi. 💯Hole-in-one for Mimi Rhodes. REQUIRED READING: AIG Women's British Open leaderboard updates: Miyu Yamashita in control down the stretch Noted by Golfweek, part of the USA TODAY Network, it is the second ace this week at the AIG Women's British Open, as Kyriacou made the first ace during Friday's second round competition on the par-3 eighth hole. Despite her ace and several birdies, Rhodes, who has won three events on the LET this season, finished two over par in the final round of competition on Sunday. On the back nine alone, Rhodes recorded two bogies and a double bogey on the par-four sixth hole. At the time of this writing, Rhodes was tied for 19th on the leaderboard at one under par 288. The AIG Women's British Open concludes on Sunday in Wales for the final major of the season.

Paula Martin Sampedro fires Sunday 68 to win low amateur honors at Women's British Open

Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro put an exclamation point on her week in Wales with a back-nine 30 that included five consecutive birdies. The Spaniard, who played alongside two-time Smyth Salver winner Lydia Ko, closed with a 4-under 68 to zoom up the board and currently holds a share of eighth at 4 under. Her 30 on the inward nine is the lowest of the week by two strokes. "Honestly, even in the front nine the couple the bogeys she made, she got some really nasty lip-outs," said Ko. "At that point if a couple of those dropped it would've been an unbelievable round. Was still an unbelievable round, and it was fun to play alongside her today." Martin Sampedro wraps up the coveted Smyth Salver for low amateur honors as Carla Bernat struggled with a 78 on Sunday to finish at 9 over for the championship, while Jeneath Wong shot 82 to finish at 17 over. Martin Sampedro becomes the fourth Spanish player to win the award, joining Marta Figueras-Dotti (1982), Elisa Serramia (2003) and Luna Sobron (2015). Her coach and caddie for the week, Alejandro Larrazabal, won the British Amateur at Royal Porthcawl in 2002. "My first three, four holes were really rough," said Martin Sampedro. "There was no way I was getting two on 1, it's a par 4. Then the first four holes, with perfect conditions are already so hard, so I knew it was going to be a tough beginning. "And then just managed to keep calm and just hole a couple putts, and then I started to see the lines better ... it was definitely a good birdie stretch on the back nine." The list of recent Smyth Salver winners is packed with stars. The award, given to the low amateur at the AIG Women's British Open, has served as a strong indicator of future success, with names like Danielle Kang, Georgia Hall, Leona Maguire, Jeeno Thitikul, Ko, and most recently, Lottie Woad, receiving the honor. It's been a massive summer for Martin Sampedro, who won both the British Women's Amateur and European Ladies' Amateur Championship in Germany. The British Amateur victory exempts her into next year's championship. Martin Sampedro currently ranks third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
