Commenting on his election as Vice Chairman of the Arab Badminton Federation, Dr Abdulrahim said: 'It is a great honour to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the general assembly members for their trust and recognition by electing me to the post of Vice Chairman. I hope to meet their needs and contribute to enhancing the positive momentum of the Federation in the coming phase. The Arab Badminton Federation plays a significant role in developing badminton players and bringing them together in a sporting, cultural and social environment that also strengthens our unity and Arab identity. My candidacy for this position stemmed from a strong belief in our role in Oman in making a significant contribution to the Arab movement in badminton. Oman, through the Committee, has over the past two years organised regional championships and hosted leaders' meetings which are clear evidence of our commitment." he concluded.
The general Assembly of the Arabian meeting took place recently in China as sideline meeting of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia recently in Xiamen, China. The Arabian meeting featured participation of 18 members from 21 countries. Oman's representative took part in all the Arabian, Asian and World Badminton meetings during April 23 to 27 in Xiamen, China.
The first meeting was for Badminton Asia and during this meeting several issues were discussed and newly introduced policies as well as approved sponsorship and marketing companies for the upcoming events and activities. This was followed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Forum which addressed ways to develop badminton locally and ensure the sustainability of federation driven activities. In the forthcoming day, the Arab Badminton Federation's General Assembly meeting took place and new Executive Committee elections took place. On the concluding day, the General Assembly meeting Badminton World Federation was held and it included elections for the international body. All the meeting occurred in Xiamen city which was hosting two of the most prestigious international badminton tournaments — the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Dr Abdulrahim al Droushi discussed partnership and development opportunities with various international and regional federations as well as national federations such as the Malaysian Badminton Federation, the Qatar Racket Sports Federation, the Cyprus Badminton Federation and the Spanish Badminton Federation. He also held a special meeting with the Development and Competitions Committees of Asia Badminton to discuss new committee directions and its activity calendar for the upcoming period.
