Sam Altman-led OpenAI is planning to launch its much awaited advanced artificial intelligence (AI) model GPT 5 in August, according to a report by The Verge.The news comes after Altman 's statement to make free copy of GPT-5 available to everybody. 'I am very interested in what it means to give everybody on Earth a free copy of GPT-5, running for them all the time," he said.Altman also shared plans to roll out GPT-5 on microblogging platform X on July 19. However, he said it is not yet capable of solving the very hardest math problems, such as those in the International Math Olympiad (IMO).'We are releasing GPT-5 soon but want to set accurate expectations: this is an experimental model that incorporates new research techniques we will use in future models,' he said.'We think you will love GPT-5, but we don't plan to release a model with IMO gold level of capability for many months,' he added.In April, Altman announced a shift in the company's AI model release schedule, revealing that intermediate models known as 'o3' and 'o4-mini' will be launched in the coming weeks, ahead of the much-anticipated GPT-5 rollout.Earlier this month, Reuters reported that the company is also preparing to launch an AI-powered web browser that would directly compete with Google Chrome. This follows the recent release of ChatGPT Agent , a new tool that can perform tasks on users' computers autonomously.

Point in case, robot cops, who have gone viral across the globe for directing traffic on the streets of Shanghai. A video of the "Robocop" dressed like a police officer giving directions at an intersection has gone viral on social media. A humanoid robot named Xiao Hu, sporting an oversized white helmet, LED tube lighting and reflective yellow fabric, was seen giving instructions to pedestrians in the streets of the Huangpu District of Shanghai on Wednesday evening. The voice instructions being given by the Robocop included "red light, please stop," and standard hand signals to direct foot traffic across the intersection. All of its physical movements and verbal commands have been modelled according to the Chinese traffic policing practices, making it act just like a human police officer. The department said the robot's appearance was part of a "real-world learning exercise for traffic management scenarios." Developed over four years, Xiao Hu is still undergoing testing. However, officials are eager to eventually use the Robocop to replace humans in heavily trafficked areas or during large-scale events. Enforcement Directorate searches are over, say Reliance Group companies
Reliance Group firms Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) and Reliance Power (RPower) on Sunday (July 27, 2025) said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had concluded searches on their premises and that the companies would continue to cooperate with the agency. Both the Anil Ambani-led group's companies said they, including their officials, would continue to fully cooperate with the ED. They said that the said action had no impact on their business operations. RInfra said, 'Action by ED has no impact on the business operations, financial performance, shareholders, employees, or any other stakeholders of the company. The same appears to pertain to allegations concerning transactions of Reliance Communications Limited (RCOM) or Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL), which are over 10 years old. Reliance Infrastructure is a separate and independent listed entity with no business or financial linkage to RCOM or RHFL.' 'RCOM is undergoing Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process as per the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, since over six years,' it said. RPower also said the same, adding that the company continued to operate in its normal course and that the said action had no impact on its business operations. The ED began searching multiple premises linked to the group on Thursday (July 24, 2025) over alleged money laundering and financial irregularities, running into crores of rupees, and the searches continued for the third day on Saturday (July 27, 2025).

China, U.S. to extend tariff pause at Sweden talks by another 90 days: Report
Beijing and Washington are expected to extend their tariff truce by another three months at trade talks in Stockholm beginning on Monday (July 28, 2025), the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. During the expected 90-day extension, the U.S. and China will agree not to introduce new tariffs or take other actions that could further escalate the trade war, the report said. While the earlier discussions in Geneva and London focused on "de-escalation", the latest meeting the Chinese delegation will also press Mr. Trump's trade team on fentanyl-related tariffs, the report further said, citing three sources familiar with the matter. Reuters could not immediately verify the report. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The third round of U.S.-China talks is set to be held in Stockholm on Monday to tackle longstanding economic disputes at the centre of the countries' trade war.
