Pistachio Churros by Chef Shivesh Bhatia
Ingredients
1 cup water
3 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup flour
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Sunflower oil, for frying
For the coating
Add the water, sugar, and butter to a saucepan & bring the mixture to a boil.
Once the water has boiled, turn off the heat & add flour. Stir in the flour till it forms a dough.
Place the pan on the heat again and cook the dough till it becomes shiny and starts sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Let the dough cool a little and add in the egg & vanilla. Mix till the egg is well incorporated.
Add the dough to a piping bag with a star nozzle and pipe the churros in hot oil.
Let the churros become golden brown & crispy. Once done, drain them on a paper towel to remove the excess oil.
Mix the castor sugar and cinnamon powder. Coat the churros in the mixture.
For the pistachio paste, add the pistachios, oil, and sugar to a blender. Blitz till it forms a smooth paste.
With a metal straw, make holes in the centre of the churros, and fill them with the pistachio paste. Serve hot with more pistachio paste.

Aaj Ka Panchang, August 5, 2025: Tithi, Vrat, Shubh Muhurat & Rahu Kaal Today

Last Updated: Aaj Ka Panchang, August 5, 2025: Tuesday is ideal for spiritual growth. Perform Vishnu Puja, Parana, and introspection. Avoid new tasks before 7:15 AM due to Vaidhrithi Yoga. Aaj Ka Panchang, August 5, 2025: Today is dedicated to Shravan Shukla Dwadashi Tithi, which is considered extremely auspicious for getting the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Shri Hari. Dwadashi Tithi is considered especially favorable for fasting and religious works, and if you have observed the Ekadashi fast, then today is also the day of Parana (end of fast). Today's Nakshatra is Moola, which strengthens courage, self-confidence, and decision-making ability. This Nakshatra is very favorable for spiritual practice and knowledge of esoteric subjects. The Moon is transiting in Sagittarius today, which increases the attachment to independent thinking, a high perspective, and purpose in life in a person. At the same time, Vaidhrithi Yoga is present till morning today, which is considered inauspicious and is worth avoiding for the start of any new work. However, after that, the whole day will be generally auspicious, and Abhijit Muhurta will be especially auspicious. The day of 5 August 2025 is suitable for religious worship, fast-parana, introspection, and attainment of virtues. Dwadashi Tithi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, so Vishnu Sahasranama, Gita Paath, or Tulsi Jal Offering are auspicious. Moola Nakshatra and Sagittarius Moon can take your thoughts to new heights today—interest in planning, teaching, philosophy, and spirituality will increase. Vaidhrithi Yoga requires a little caution at the beginning of the day, especially when avoiding starting new tasks. Today is extremely fruitful from a religious point of view, but it is advisable to postpone any major decision or new work until 7:15 am. The latter half of the day is especially auspicious—take advantage of Abhijit Muhurta and move towards your goals with devotion. Get the full benefit of this auspicious day by indulging in Puja, Japa, and good deeds. 76 Killed, Dozens Missing After Migrant Boat Capsizes Near Yemen In Bad Weather

Last Updated: This tragedy is the latest in a series of shipwrecks off Yemen, which have killed hundreds of African migrants fleeing conflict and poverty and reaching Gulf countries. At least 76 people were killed in one of the deadliest migrant shipwrecks near Yemen after a boat carrying mostly Ethiopian migrants sank in the Gulf of Aden in bad weather, according to officials. Security officials said 32 people had been rescued and dozens remained missing, with their fates unknown. Abdusattor Esoev, the UN International Organisation for Migration's (IOM) chief of mission for Yemen, told AFP that the ship was headed to Abyan governorate in southern Yemen, a frequent destination for boats smuggling African migrants hoping to reach the wealthy Gulf states. The UN migration agency said there were 157 people, of whom 76 had died and 32 had been rescued. Some of those rescued have been transferred to Yemen's Aden, near Abyan, a security official said. Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy See's secretary of state, said the Pope was 'deeply saddened by the devastating loss of life". Despite the civil war that has ravaged Yemen since 2014, the impoverished country has remained a key transit point for irregular migration, in particular from Ethiopia, which itself has been roiled by ethnic conflict. 'This route is predominantly controlled by smugglers and human-trafficking networks… Refugees and migrants have no other alternative but to hire their services," Ayla Bonfiglio, of the Mixed Migration Centre research and policy organisation, told AFP. 'Migrants are well aware of the risks, but with no legal pathways and families relying on remittances from Saudi Arabia or the Emirates, many feel they have no choice," she added. Last month, at least eight people died after smugglers forced 150 migrants off a boat in the Red Sea, according to the IOM. The vessel that sank off Abyan was carrying mostly Ethiopian migrants, according to the province's security directorate and an IOM source. On their way to the Gulf, migrants cross the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the narrow waterway at the mouth of the Red Sea that is a major route for international trade, as well as for migration and human trafficking. Upon reaching Yemen, the poorest country on the Arabian Peninsula, migrants frequently encounter additional threats to their safety, as tens and thousands become stranded there and suffer abuse and exploitation.
