Vijay Sethupathi's son Surya talks about his 1.5-year transformation for his acting debut in Phoenix.
"Before the movie started, I weighed around 120 kg. It took me one and a half years to reduce my weight. In the process of reducing my weight, I learned MMA, which is the core of the movie," said Surya.
The journey wasn't easy, especially in the early months. Surya admitted that the first six months were particularly challenging. He said that he had to cut down on sugar and oil, which was difficult for the debutant. Surya on landing his debut role
Surya also revealed how his casting in Phoenix happened almost by chance, thanks to a visit to the sets of Jawan, which starred his father.
"I always had the thought of becoming an actor, but I didn't know how to go about it. Then, one day, I went to meet my dad on the sets during the climax shoot of Jawan. That's when Anl Arasu sir saw me. He told my dad about Phoenix and said, 'I want to do a movie with Surya. Is that okay with you, sir?' My dad responded, 'That's his decision. Let him hear the story and decide'," Surya recalled.
After listening to the narration, Surya said yes, only three days later. The actor believes that the story and the director chose him.
Phoenix also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sampath Raj, and Devadarshini. Produced by AK Braveman Pictures, it is slated for a July 4 theatrical release.

Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana first look to be revealed today: Who plays whom, budget, release date revealed

Ramayana first look: Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, the first look of the mythological film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will be presented to the world on Thursday. Also starring Yash as Ravan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Laxman and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the film has been in the making for the last two years. So far, the makers have not released any footage from the film and the three-minute preview set to be released on July 3 will be the audience's introduction to the world of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Most of the cast members of the film have stayed quiet about their part in the film. However, Yash, who is also the producer of the film, previously spoke to The Hollywood Reporter India where he shared his interpretation of Ravan, and how he intends on playing the role of the antagonist of the epic. 'It's a very fascinating character. I wouldn't have done it for any other reason. In Ramayana, if you had asked me 'would you play any other character?' Probably not. For me, Ravan is the most exciting character to play as an actor so I really like the shades and the nuances of particular character. There's vast scope to present it in a very different way. As an actor, I am very excited. Hopefully, it's going to be a very unique approach to it,' he said. In June, Sunny also spoke about playing Hanuman in the film. He shared with Zoom, 'Nervousness and fear are always there, but that's the beauty of it because you have to find within you how will you take up the challenge.' He added, 'Ramayana has been made so many times, and when this film comes on the screen and the way all the actors are involved in it, I'm sure they'll do justice to the epic, and people will be satisfied and they will enjoy the film.' Arun Govil, who is best known for playing Lord Rama on the Doordarshan show Ramayan, will be playing the role of the Ram's father, Dashrath, in the film. It has been reported that Rakul Preet Singh will be seen as Surpanakha, and Vivek Oberoi will be seen playing Vidyutjihva, Surpanakha's husband. Actor Indira Krishnan will be seen playing Lord Ram's mother Kaushalya in the film. It has also been reported that Kajal Aggarwal will be seen as Mandodari, and Lara Dutta will play Kaikeyi in the film. At the recent wrap of the film's first part, Ranbir and Ravie were seen celebrating with each other. An earlier report by Bollywood Hungama suggested that the film is being made on a budget of Rs 835 crore, making it the most expensive Indian film to date. Previously, another film based on the epic, Adipurush, was made on a budget of Rs 500 crore. The film failed at the box office and was severely criticised for its visual effects and dialogues, among other things. That film starred Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. Ramayana will be a two-part film. The first part is scheduled to release on Diwali 2026 and the second part will release on Diwali 2027. The makers are yet to confirm the exact release dates, which will be revealed in the announcement video.

This season will mark the beginning of the new seasonal format, where every season will run for two months, with the mid-season refresh planned to be released in the second month. Along with new maps like Klynter and new team-up abilities, fans are already hyped up about Season 3. However, the most exciting addition of this season is yet to be explored. NetEase Games adds a much requested feature in Season 3 of Marvel Rivals The official YouTube channel of Marvel Rivals has recently hosted the Volumer 7 od Dev Vision, where the Creative Director Guanguyn Chen and other development team members of the game talked about the upcoming season, The Abyss Awakens. In this video, they confirmed that there will be a new feature called mix and match skins MVP animations, which fans have been wanting for a long time. Previously, players used to don the same skin in order to execute the MVP animation, the one which comes clubbed with that particular skin bundle. However, that same skin might not be suitable to wear in the whole match. Still, for the sake of using that animation, players had to equip that skin as that specific MVP animation can't be used with any other skin. However, as the new feature is confirmed, players don't need to worry anymore. After the arrival of Season 3, players will be able to wear any skin they want, and still, they will be able to execute the MVP animation associated with any skin bundle. Season 3 The Abyss Awakens | Dev Vision Vol. 07 | Marvel Rivals However, it seems the MVP animation will use the same skin as its bundle and the gameplay skin will be different. The final frame of the MVP animation is actually pre-rendered, and combining MVP animations with new skins would be a tough job for the developers. But if it comes out the other way around, then this feature will open a new dimension of customization in Marvel Rivals as it will make MVP animations of other skins more appealing, which actually don't have any. A detailed overview about this feature is yet to be disclosed by the developers, so the functionality of this feature is still unknown. This Tamil Actor Starred With Aishwarya Rai, Rajinikanth; Then Turned Taxi Driver After Flops

Last Updated: Mirza Abbas Ali's fall from superstardom to obscurity highlights the film industry's unpredictability and the resilience required to survive its highs and lows Popular South cinema actor Mirza Abbas Ali, once a superstar of the 90s, has faced significant highs and lows in his career. Known for his work alongside big stars like Aishwarya Rai and Rajinikanth, Abbas starred in many successful films during the early 90s. However, his career took a downturn, leading to financial struggles so severe that he couldn't afford rent. Abbas, who has acted in both South Indian cinema and Bollywood, made his Bollywood debut with ' Ansh: The Deadly Part '. Unfortunately, the film did not perform well, and Abbas even advised his fans against watching it, admitting it was not up to par. The early 2000s saw a string of flops for Abbas, which caused his career graph to plummet. Despite having worked with superstars like Aishwarya Rai and Rajinikanth, he quickly vanished from the acting scene. Quit Acting After Career Began To Decline Abbas became a well-known face in Tamil cinema with hits like 'Kadhal Desam', ' V.I.P. ', and ' Kandukondain Kandukondain '. Yet, as his career declined, he started taking on supporting roles before eventually disappearing from the industry altogether. He ultimately left films and moved abroad, settling in New Zealand, where he took up jobs as a mechanic and taxi driver to support his family. Struggled To Pay Rent In an old interview, Abbas recounted the hardships he faced, 'Initially, some of my films were successful, but then a series of flops left me without money to pay rent or even buy cigarettes. Out of self-respect, I initially resisted taking up other work, but eventually, I sought help from producer RB Chaudhary, who gave me a role in ' Pooveli '. However, I soon quit films as I no longer enjoyed it." Abbas's financial struggles were so dire that he had to use petrol station washrooms because he couldn't afford to use the facilities at construction sites. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he attempted to reconnect with fans through Zoom calls to offer some encouragement and support. 'I tried to motivate people by connecting with them over Zoom," he shared. First Published:
