FC Barcelona Confirm Nou Camp Reopening After Two Years Of Redevelopment
Barcelona are set to return to their traditional home base Nou Camp for a Joan Gamper Trophy match ahead of the 2025-26 La Liga season.
Barcelona have officially announced the reopening date of their iconic home stadium, Nou Camp. After two years of redevelopment, the revamped venue will host its first match on August 10, when the team takes part in the Joan Gamper Trophy, their traditional pre-season fixture.
Originally slated to be ready last year, the renovation project faced multiple delays. Although the stadium won't be fully completed by August, it will still welcome fans for the high-profile friendly.
In an official statement, the club said: 'Remaining works include the completion of the new third tier, the dual VIP ring, the roof installation, and the final touches to various interior spaces, as well as the urban development of the stadium's surrounding area."
The Joan Gamper Trophy serves as a curtain-raiser ahead of the new La Liga season, and this year it marks an emotional return to the club's spiritual home.
'During this period, the Club will strive to ensure the highest level of comfort for members, fans, and visitors to the Spotify Camp Nou, facilitating access and adapting services to offer the best possible experience."
'To celebrate this moment, FC Barcelona has launched an epic and emotional campaign under the slogan 'Tornem a casa, vibrem'. With this return, FC Barcelona takes a symbolic and emotional step into the future, reclaiming its home in a new era that will culminate with the complete inauguration of the new stadium."
Barcelona's opponents for the Joan Gamper Trophy fixture are yet to be confirmed but reports are that Serie A club Como could be invited. The Nou Camp will operate at a reduced capacity between 50,000 and 60,000 fans for the match. The capacity of the ground will increase up to 1,05,000 once the redevelopment project is completed.
The work has cost Barcelona £1.25billion since it started, but the returns are expected to make up for the expenses over time, with the ground anticipated to earn the club an extra £25million revenue per year. Ever since leaving Nou Camp, Barcelona have been playing their home games at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium located nearby.

Luis Enrique Braces for 'Emotional' Reunion with Messi In Club World Cup Last 16
PSG coach Luis Enrique anticipates an emotional Club World Cup match against Inter Miami, facing Lionel Messi, whom he coached at Barcelona. Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique acknowledged that Sunday's Club World Cup clash with Inter Miami will be an emotional occasion—for both him and the club—as he prepares to face Lionel Messi, a player he once coached at Barcelona. Messi joined PSG in 2021 after leaving Barça, where he played under Enrique during one of the club's most successful eras. Though the Argentine won two Ligue 1 titles in Paris, he left in 2023 without delivering the coveted Champions League trophy. That same summer, Enrique took charge of PSG and led them to their first-ever European title, defeating Inter Milan in a commanding final on May 31. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Enrique reflected on the upcoming reunion. 'I think the game in an emotional sense is special for me, without a doubt, for the club too and the players who have been here with Messi," he said. The PSG boss also highlighted the emotional significance of facing several other familiar faces: Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano—all of whom Enrique managed during Barcelona's historic treble-winning 2014–15 season. 'It's beautiful to see these players, who are more than just players for me. It will be special—before and after the game," he said ahead of the match at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. While PSG enter the match as favorites, Enrique stressed that Messi's presence—and the strength of the Inter Miami squad—will serve as motivation rather than intimidation. 'If we can't get the ball off them it won't look good for us, because Busquets is still the same. Lionel Messi with the ball is unique," Enrique said. 'Luis Suárez—you saw the last goal he scored… and on top of that, they have a coach like Mascherano. 'For us, it's very motivating. We won the Champions League recently, but we still have the hunger to show that we can improve and compete. There's no better stage than this marvellous stadium, facing a team that includes a man called Leo Messi—a revered figure not just for Barcelona fans, but for everyone who enjoys the game." No 'Slip-Ups' Enrique confirmed that PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé had returned to training this week, but warned he would not take any risks with the French international in Sunday's last-16 fixture. Enrique was also clear about the approach needed to limit Messi's impact, acknowledging the futility of relying on a single defender. 'Messi can dribble past any player," he said. 'If we want to stop Leo Messi, we don't rely on just one player, because then we are dead. We need the collective." PSG Preparing For 'Emotional' Reunion With Lionel Messi At Club World Cup
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said facing former player Lionel Messi will be an "emotional" reunion for both himself and the French club ahead of Sunday's Club World Cup clash against Inter Miami. Argentine great Messi joined PSG in 2021 from Barcelona, where Luis Enrique had coached him and several other current Inter Miami players. The forward departed in 2023, the same summer the Spaniard arrived at PSG, having won two Ligue 1 titles but failed to bring the French club the Champions League triumph they craved. Luis Enrique eventually led PSG to European success this season as they won the trophy for the first time by thrashing Inter Milan on May 31. "I think the game in an emotional sense is special for me, without a doubt, for the club too and the players who have been here with Messi," Luis Enrique told a news conference Saturday. The coach said he was also excited about facing Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Inter Miami boss Javier Mascherano, all of whom he coached at Barcelona as they won the treble in 2015. "It's beautiful to see these players, who are more than just players for me, it will be special before and after the game," he continued ahead of the match in Atlanta. Luis Enrique said Messi's presence would be a motivating factor for his PSG side, who are one of the leading favourites to win the competition. "If we can't get the ball off them it won't look good for us, because Busquets is still the same, Lionel Messi with the ball is unique," he said. "Luis Suarez, you saw the last goal he scored... and on top of that they have a coach like Mascherano... "For us it's very motivating. We won the Champions League recently, but for us we have a lot of hunger still to show we have room to improve, that we want to compete. "There's no better stage to compete than in this marvellous stadium, facing a team in which there is a man who is called Leo Messi, who is a revered figure not just for Barca fans, but people who enjoy him as a player." No 'slip-ups' Luis Enrique said star PSG forward Ousmane Dembele had trained this week but he would "take no risks" with the French winger for the last-16 clash at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. After Botafogo stunned PSG in the group stage and Inter Miami surprised with a 2-1 win over Porto, Luis Enrique called on his players to maintain their concentration. "When you play in these type of competitions, and I know it perfectly well from coaching the Spanish national team, you cannot slip up whatsoever," said Luis Enrique. "You cannot pause, you cannot be excessively confident, you can't do anything wrong because 90 minutes go by very quickly, and I think it's important that from the start we try and make our mark, impose our game and that's our objective." The coach said the way to try and shackle Messi was collectively, rather than individually. "Messi can dribble (past) any player," added Luis Enrique. "If we want to stop Leo Messi, we don't want only one player, because we are dead -- we need the collective."

Raphinha welcomes Nico Williams to Barcelona, hails winger as ‘player of the highest quality'
Barcelona captain and attacking mainstay Raphinha has heaped praise on Blaugrana's potential big buy, Nico Williams from Athletic Club (Athletic Bilbao), and called him 'player of the highest quality' despite the potential battle between the two for a starting XI spot. 'Any player who comes to join the club is welcome. I think that anyone who comes with the mentality of arriving, working and striving for the good of the team is very welcome,' said Rapinha as quoted by Mundo Deportivo. 'It is no coincidence that he is being considered to play with us at Barcelona and that he plays in the senior Spanish national team. He is a player of the highest quality. He has a lot of level, a lot of quality,' he added. Reportedly, Barcelona are closing in on a deal for Williams, an Athletic Club winger, with club president Joan Laporta confirming the team will pay Williams's €58m release clause. 'There's no room for sadness or depression about anything, with the arrival of one or another. As I said, any teammate who arrives intending to work hard to help the team will be very welcome, both by me and by the other players. That's the most important thing,' he shared. It'll also be interesting to see how the Blaugrana will line up, considering Raphinha's switch to the left-wing role. If Williams's move from Athletic happens, then it will increase manager Hansi Flick's options in attack, which could see Raphinha deployed in a more central role next season. Raphinha has excelled in the attacking triumvirate alongside Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, scoring 34 goals and contributing 22 assists in all competitions in 2024/25. Barcelona had a brilliant 2024-25 season, where they ended up winning the domestic treble under coach Hansi Flick in his first tenure. Besides winning their 28th La Liga title, Barca beat Real Madrid to win the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.
