EU threatens US with retaliatory measures over tariffs
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned on Saturday of the possibility of retaliatory measures against the United States over its imposition of new tariffs on European goods.
According to the Novosti news agency, Ursula von der Leyen said that "the European Union has threatened to impose countermeasures against the United States if a trade agreement is not reached between the two parties by August 1," following US President Donald Trump's decision to impose 30 percent tariffs on all EU imports.
Von der Leyen added, "We will take all necessary steps to protect the interests of the European Union, including proportionate countermeasures if necessary."
EU authorities hope to continue negotiations with the United States to reach a trade agreement by August 1 and have expressed their willingness to engage in dialogue, but have emphasized their determination to protect their economic interests if an agreement is not reached.
US President Donald Trump announced earlier on Saturday that the United States would impose a 30 percent tariff on European Union goods, effective August 1.
He added in a post on the Truth Social platform that if the European Union raises its tariffs on American goods, the United States will respond by raising its tariffs by the same percentage.
Amid trade tensions, the European Commission President indicated that the European Union will expand its partnerships with other countries, warning of the risks threatening key transatlantic supply chains due to tariffs.

Hodeida – Two women's rallies in Jabal Ras & Ad-Durayhimi in solidarity with Gaza
Hodeida - Saba: The Women's Cultural Authority in Al Hodeida Governorate organized two women's rallies on Friday in the districts of Jabal Ras and Ad-Durayhimi, in solidarity with Gaza and to express the unwavering stance of women in confronting the Zionist-American aggression against the Palestinian people. The rallies were held under the slogan, "We Continue to Support Gaza and Confront Zionist Violations Against the Ummah." Participants raised banners expressing solidarity with Palestinian women and the children of Gaza, who are facing horrific massacres and violations amid shameful international and Arab silence. They affirmed that Yemeni women will remain partners in the nation's decisive battle, no matter the challenges. Speeches delivered during the rallies emphasized that the American-Israeli aggression spares no one and that Yemeni women recognize their responsibility in supporting the choice of resistance, raising generations on the values of jihad and sacrifice, and maintaining a conscious connection to the holy sites and the central cause of the Ummah. The speeches condemned the official Arab silence, warning against normalization projects that pave the way for the desecration of the Ummah's sanctities and the entrenchment of Zionist influence. They stressed that enabling the enemy to dominate Arab decision-making constitutes religious, moral, and political betrayal. Participants praised the qualitative operations carried out by the Yemeni Armed Forces deep within enemy territory, considering them a practical fulfillment of their duty to the Palestinian people and a message from the free world that Gaza is not alone. In a statement, the Women's Authority renewed its pledge to continue raising awareness, mobilizing efforts, and enhancing women's role in the battle for liberation. It called on women of the Ummah to break free from silence and step into the arenas of action and sacrifice for the nation's causes.

Massive rallies in Marib under Slogan: "We continue to support Gaza & confront Zionist aggression against Ummah"
Marib - Saba: Marib province witnessed on Friday 17 massive marches and dozens of rallies under the slogan "We Continue to Support Gaza and Confront Zionist Aggression Against the Ummah." In the southern district, crowds marched in a massive rally at Al-Jubah Square, where participants chanted slogans condemning the ongoing massacres by the Zionist enemy against civilians in the Gaza Strip, backed by Western-American support and amid suspicious Arab inaction. In Sirwah district, marches took place in Sirwah Market Square, Habab, and Al-Mahjaza, with participants reaffirming Yemen's unwavering religious and national stance against the crimes and schemes of the Zionist-American enemy in the region, which seek to enforce complete domination over the peoples of the region. In the northern district, a massive rally at Al-Husun Square in Majzar emphasized Yemen's continued official and popular support for the Palestinian resistance and the ongoing operations of the Yemeni Armed Forces against the Zionist entity until the aggression on Gaza stops and the siege is lifted. In Harib Al-Qaramish district, rallies were held in Shuja', Bab Hara, Al-Hazm, Hara, and Al-Liwa squares, calling on the Arab and Islamic nations to act in solidarity with Gaza and halt the Zionist brutality carried out by the enemy in the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria. In Bidbdah district, two marches in Al-Tadamun and Halwa squares stressed the intensification of mobilization efforts, military readiness to confront enemies, and the economic boycott of American and Israeli products, as well as companies supporting the occupying entity. Separate rallies and vigils were also held in Qaniya, Al-Amud, Jabal Murad, Rahba, and Harib Al-Janah squares, where participants praised the operations of the Yemeni Armed Forces in support of the Palestinian people. They called for escalating specialized operations to deter the Zionist enemy and force it to halt its aggression on Gaza. A statement issued by the Marib rallies reaffirmed Yemen's unified official and popular stance with Gaza and all of Palestine—its people and resistance—in confronting the crimes of the Zionist enemy, which receives full American backing. The statement emphasized that Yemen's operations will continue until the aggression stops and the siege on Gaza is lifted, celebrating the success of recent naval military operations that achieved deterrence and officially sealed off the port of Umm Al-Rashrash, shattering any illusions of breaking Yemen's blockade. On the first anniversary of the martyrdom of the great jihadist leader Muhammad Al-Deif, commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, and his fellow martyrs in Palestine and across all fronts of jihad, dignity, and honor, the statement renewed the pledge to carry their banner and never abandon it, God willing, until victory is achieved. The statement called on the peoples of the Ummah to draw inspiration from the highest values of humanity, sacrifice, and devotion exemplified by these martyred leaders—urging complete devotion to God, adherence to His book, fear and hope in Him, arming themselves with awareness and insight.
