RSS wants to create caste-based, religiously divided society, says Speaker Appavu
During an informal chat with reporters, Mr. Appavu, after inaugurating an urban health centre at Chidambara Nagar near Thatchanallur here on Thursday, said the RSS had never accepted the ideas of secularism, socialism and egalitarian society and always advocated for a caste-based and religiously divided society with the 'upper caste' at the top of the administration.. Hence, RSS leaders were repeatedly stressing that the words secularism and socialism be removed from the Indian Constitution.
'While the Indian Constitution vociferously supports secularism, socialism and egalitarian society, the RSS works overtime to uproot it from the Constitution as this outfit sees these high ideals as the stumbling block for achieving its dream of creating caste-based, unequal and religiously divided society. Hence the Union Government is travelling towards this direction to realise its masters' dream, which is not good for the country's integrity and prosperity. Having realised this wickedness, the people of Tamil Nadu will never accept these evil designs,' Mr. Appavu said.
The Speaker also said the RSS and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were keen on the obliteration of English, the country's link language, by initially pushing forward Hindi and then replacing Hindi with Sanskrit later. 'It will also not be possible in Tamil Nadu.'
Terming the recent custodial death in Sivaganga district as 'unpardonable', Mr. Appavu said the Chief Minister had ensured the registration of a case against five policemen and their arrest since the brutal incident was against law and the people. 'The Chief Minister even went on to apologise to the family of the deceased, which shows his respect for high values.'
Asked about the information that Ajith was brutally thrashed on the instruction from an IAS officer, Mr. Appavu said: 'The probe is on to bring out the truth. If an IAS officer is found to be involved in this incident, the Chief Minister will not spare the officer also'.
On the ongoing internal squabbles in the PMK, the Speaker said they (party founder S. Ramadoss and his son Anbumani Ramadoss) would sort it out.

'Is Election Commission God?': Pappu Yadav's 'do-or-die battle' call as roll revision row heats up
NEW DELHI: , who is a Congress-leaning Independent Lok Sabha MP, made a call for the "do-or-die battle" over the 's (ECI) move to revise the electoral roll as part of its special intensive revision (SIR) ahead of the . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Labelling the poll body as "office of the ," the Purnia MP asked if the "Election Commission was God?" Pappu Yadav, who is a six-time MP, said he would lay his life for "the identity of Bihar and Bihari". "The commission is precisely the office of the RSS and should be stopped. The people are ready to end anything that threatens constitutional responsibility. Talks have been held with the Congress incharge regarding this... Is the Election Commission God?... There will be a battle across the state. And for the identity of Bihar and Bihari, if we have to sacrifice our lives, then we will do it," Pappu Yadav told news agency ANI. Earlier in the day, Congress alleged that the poll body's special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar was a "sinister exercise" to deprive lakhs of voters of their franchise and a clear effort to "destroy" the electoral system in the state. In a post on X, Congress general secretary in-charge organisation, K C Venugopal, said, "This government specialises in giving people hell. The SIR is a sinister exercise to deprive lakhs of voters of their franchise." "The unnecessary haste, and their absolute refusal to address genuine concerns raised by the Opposition, points to this being a clear effort to destroy the electoral system in Bihar," he said. "We will not let this go through. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now They must halt this ridiculous exercise immediately," Venugopal said. On Wednesday, leaders of several INDIA bloc parties met the EC over the SIR issue and raised concerns over its timing, alleging that over two crore voters of the state may be disenfranchised by this mammoth exercise being done just ahead of assembly elections. The Election Commission on Thursday said it has decoded the entire exercise to a group of opposition parties to assuage their fears. While the EC said that the revision, happening after 22 years, is in line with the Constitution and the Representation of the People Act, opposition parties claim the timing is suspiciously close to the assembly polls and could "skew the voter base". The opposition has maintained that a revision this close to elections casts doubt on the EC's intentions. However, contrary to their protests, opposition parties have gone all in. The RJD has deployed 47,143 BLAs, second only to BJP's 51,964. Congress has appointed 8,586, while Left outfits like CPI(ML), CPM, and CPI have sent in their own agents. On the NDA side, JDU, LJP, and RLSP have mobilised more than 30,000 BLAs in total.

Where Is Najeeb? Why Don't You Care?
Where is Najeeb Ahmed? When a student goes missing; you don't care. You don't set up a search party, you don't comment, you don't cry about it with your 56-inch wide chest and 5,600-word long speeches, you don't write a tweet, you don't discuss it in your big board rooms with people in power, you let people think that Najeeb Ahmed is a nobody; as if he never existed, as if he should never exist at all in the order of affairs. You don't call out the students who think like you, who beat students who don't think like you – with sticks and bottles and everything blunt and sharp. You don't say anything when a library is attacked. When book shelves fall on the heads of the students. When their head bleeds from the attacks on their minds which still await to be nourished and put to good use for the country; they might be preparing for their UPSC exams but now they cannot see clearly and have bruises all over their body and mind. You don't care when your police hit the students with lathis leaving them paralysed, blind in one eye and prone to asthma and respiratory illnesses. You don't care when they are dragged into police cars and shoved into buses as they can't breathe to save the trees which they are fighting for, to have a breathable future. You don't care when they fire burning gas at young bodies, crippling them for weeks until they never walk again and get out of the house to protest, to sit on the doors of justice asking to release their fellow comrades. You do this because you know you can do this; to weaken them; you do this to break their soul by breaking their bodies, one body at a time – one student at a time; one teacher at a time by raiding their houses, compromising their computers, by destroying their bookshelves and confiscating them as evidence. Evidence of their intellectual rigour, their passion, their love for humanity, their literature and their music. You take it all and use it against them. You don't care when they shoot writers, journalists and arrest English teachers who die in your jail cells waiting to meet their mothers at their funerals. We know you don't care and you never will. But somebody has to care – so that it is not their student or friend who disappears one day. Or they themselves. Where is Najeeb Ahmed? Maharashtra minister Rane objects to 'Hindus' being targeted for not speaking in Marathi
BJP leader and Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane has taken exception to MNS supporters allegedly beating up a 'Hindu man' for not speaking in Marathi, and asked if "those who wear skull caps" speak the language well. He was reacting to a viral video showing workers of the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena thrashing a shop-keeper in Bhayandar area on the outskirts of the state capital for allegedly refusing to speak in Marathi. "A Hindu man was beaten are poor Hindus being assaulted? If you have the courage, try going to Null Bazaar or Mohammad Ali Road and show your strength there," Rane said at the legislature complex on Thursday. "Do those with beards and skull caps in Mohammad Ali Road (area) speak pure Marathi? Do Javed Akhtar or Aamir Khan speak Marathi? You do not have the courage to make them speak in Marathi, but you choose to assault poor Hindus instead," the minister further said. Live Events The controversy over Hindi was an attempt to divide Hindus, Rane claimed. "This is a conspiracy to turn the country into an Islamic state. Through love jihad, land jihad and other tactics, attempts are being made to reduce the number of Hindus in Mumbai. This violence is part of that strategy. Why do you not go to Malvani and assault people there? Do they speak in pure Marathi?" the BJP leader said. The present government was elected by the Hindus and is rooted in Hindutva ideology , he said, adding, "If anyone dares to act in this manner, our government will also respond." Elsewhere, Rane's cabinet colleague Pratap Sarnaik, a leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, also took a swipe at the MNS, saying it does not have a monopoly over Marathi. "Does the MNS alone possess the right to fight for the Marathi language? If someone is taking law into their hands and targeting working-class individuals for political or financial gains, it will not be tolerated," Sarnaik said. "We also take pride in being Marathi and in our Hindutva identity. We will not tolerate such incidents. Traders should not be threatened. I had asked the police to take action, and they have done so," he said. The language issue came to the fore ahead of coming civic elections after the BJP-led government sought to introduce Hindi as a third language from Class 1 in state schools. The order triggered angry protests with allegations that Hindi was being imposed on students, and was eventually withdrawn. While the video of the shopkeeper being assaulted in Bhayandar circulated on social media, another viral video showed two persons being made to apologise to a man in the presence of Shiv Sena ( UBT ) leader Rajan Vichare for allegedly assaulting him, and one of them was slapped by the "victim". "Speak in Marathi since you have hit a Marathi person," a voice is heard telling one of the two men while he tries to say something to Vichare, a former MP from Thane.
