IU Indianapolis fires Paul Corsaro for his treatment of players
'His behavior did not meet the university's values and standards regarding the treatment of student athletes,' the university said in a statement.
Corsaro went 10-24 overall and 6-14 in the Horizon League in his only season with the Jaguars.
The 36-year-old Indianapolis native was considered an up-and-comer in the coaching ranks when he left the University of Indianapolis last spring after four seasons. He posted a 79-37 mark with the Greyhounds, topping the 20-win mark and making NCAA Division II Tournament runs in each of his final two seasons at his alma mater.
Corsaro was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2022-23.
He played both football and basketball in college. After graduating from Indianapolis in 2012, he joined the Greyhounds staff and worked there until 2017-18. Following two seasons as an assistant coach at Purdue Fort Wayne, he took the head coaching job at Indianapolis.
IU Indianapolis said it will conduct a national search for Corsaro's successor.

Jaguars' Travis Hunter Highest-Rated Rookie In 'Madden' In Over 10 Years
Travis Hunter might have gone No. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he'll be No. 1 among the rookies in "Madden NFL 26." The Jacksonville Jaguars' two-way star is the highest-rated rookie in "Madden NFL 26," earning an 84 overall rating for the game, EA Sports announced Wednesday. His rating is the highest for a rookie in the "Madden" series since Andrew Luck in "Madden NFL 13." The former Indianapolis Colts quarterback also had an 84 overall rating, while Reggie Bush had the highest overall rating ever for a rookie in the game at 87. Hunter will be featured as a two-way star in "Madden NFL 26," just as the Jaguars plan to use him in real life. Users will be able to play with Hunter at wide receiver and cornerback, with restrictions being lifted on the depth chart settings for him. Hunter will also have "some exclusive benefits" in the game, according to EA Sports. He's the first rookie in the "Madden" series to ever have custom abilities made for him, making it so that the impact from the "Wear & Tear" feature will be less draining on him than it would be for other players that users try to play with on both sides of the ball. Still, Hunter will feel the effects of the "Wear & Tear" feature if you try to play him on every snap. So far in training camp, Hunter has split time at both wide receiver and cornerback. However, he's spent each day exclusively playing one position rather than splitting time between the two. Hunter's ability to shine on both sides of the ball also made him one of the best players in college football at Colorado last season, and the winner of the Heisman Trophy. He had 1,258 receiving yards to go with 16 total touchdowns on offense, while he recorded four interceptions and only allowed one touchdown at cornerback. Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty, who was taken with the sixth overall pick, is the second-highest rated rookie, earning an 83 overall rating. New York Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter (81) and Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham (80) were the only other rookies to earn an overall rating of 80 or higher. New England Patriots offensive tackle Will Campbell (79), Atlanta Falcons edge rusher Jalon Walker (79), Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Kenneth Grant (78), Denver Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron (78), San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Mykel Williams (78) and Buffalo Bills cornerback Maxwell Hairston (78) round out the top 10 for the highest-rated rookie players in "Madden NFL 26." Gadsden County football coach Russell Ellington, eight players face one-year suspension
Gadsden County coach Russell Ellington and eight Jaguars players are facing a one-year suspension from the Florida High School Athletic Association for registration irregularities. Ellington revealed the possible suspensions in a letter posted to his X account on July 28, which also is the first day football teams in Florida began preseason practice. 'You may have heard the Florida High School Athletic Association issued preliminary findings of registration irregularities involving eight Gadsden County High School football athletes during the concurrent football season,' Ellington wrote. 'As a result, the association has recommended a one-year suspension of the players, and me.' Ellington said the school is appealing the recommendation and is hopeful it would be overturned 'because the allegation of irregular registration is not the result of actions taken by the student athletes, me, or Gadsden County High School officials.' Ellington did not name the eight players under investigation. The FHSAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment. However, according to published reports, including WCTV in Tallahassee, the FHSAA is banning Gadsden County from participating in the state series this season and is also fining the school $21,500. Ellington has been at Gadsden County for two seasons and guided the Jaguars to the Class 2A state championship game in 2024. He also was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Football Coach of the Year for Class 2A. Gadsden County went 12-2 last fall. The team went undefeated in Florida during the regular season with the lone loss came on the road at Coffee (Georgia). Before falling to national power Cocoa in the state championship game, the Jaguars reeled off nine consecutive double-digit wins. Gadsden County is expected to be one of the state this season and have several impact players, including senior linebacker Daylen Green (Arkansas commit), senior offensive lineman Jakobe Green (Florida State commit) and senior linebacker Lorenzo Barnes (USF commit).
