Netflix Will Livestream NASA Rocket Launches — Starting This Summer

Forbes10 hours ago
NASA+ live programming will stream ad-free on Netflix globally starting this summer. Artist's ... More concept.
The countdown is over. NASA announced earlier today that it will be providing its NASA+ programming service on Netflix. Rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, mission coverage and live views of Earth from the International Space Station will all form part of the content available the industry-leading subscription streaming service.
Although NASA stated that the move would begin 'starting this summer,' neither the agency nor Netflix provided a specific date.
However, NASA did confirm that the move would be global, stating that 'Netflix reaches a global audience of more than 700 million people.' Netflix had 300 million paid memberships in March 2025.
The news was previewed yesterday by Netflix on X (Twitter).
What Is NASA+?
NASA+ isn't new. It launched as a standalone, free streaming service in 2023 as an upgrade to NASA TV. It hosts content from active missions, research labs and the ISS, as well as archive footage and documentaries.
Nor is this an exclusive content deal. Although Netflix will provide a feed from NASA+, the service will remain available at no cost and ad-free via the NASA app and on the agency's website.

1958 Space Act
'The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience,' said Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+ at the agency's headquarters in Washington. 'Together, we're committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration – inspiring new generations – right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone.'
In a press release, NASA added that its goal with the Netflix deal was to 'bring the excitement of the agency's discoveries, inventions, and space exploration to people, wherever they are.'
What To Expect From NASA+
The main attraction for most Netflix users will be the chance to watch rocket launches from Cape Canaveral — typically SpaceX Falcon 9 launches taking astronauts to the ISS, as well as the return of crew members via parachute. Viewers will also get real-time science briefings, behind-the-scenes mission prep and live broadcasts from astronauts on the ISS.
It's not clear when NASA+ will debut on Netflix, but the next rocket launch is scheduled for 3:32 p.m. EDT on July 3, when Roscosmos plans to launch an ISS Progress 92 cargo capsule from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
Wishing you clear skies and wide eyes.

BTS agency confirms superstars' 2026 album, tour

BTS agency HYBE confirmed Wednesday that the K-pop megastars would release a new album and go on tour in 2026, with the group's livestream announcement of their return attracting more than seven million views. The seven-member group had been on a self-described hiatus since 2022 while they undertook their mandatory military service -- required of all men under 30 in South Korea due to tensions with the nuclear-armed North. Now discharged from service, the septet "will travel to the United States in July to begin preparations for the new album and tour all together", HYBE said in a statement. BTS announced their official comeback during a live broadcast on Tuesday, the first livestream with all seven in nearly three years. The livestream attracted more than 7.3 million real-time views -- a record for the group, according to the agency. HYBE said BTS "plan to release their new album in 2026 and embark on a large-scale world tour". Group member RM said during the livestream that the new album "is officially set to be released next spring." "Starting next spring, we'll of course be going on tour, so please look forward to seeing us all around the globe," he added. Their comeback album would be their first in four years since "Proof", which was the best-selling album of 2022 in South Korea, with nearly 3.5 million copies sold. Before their military service, BTS generated more than 5.5 trillion won ($4 billion) in yearly economic impact, according to the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute. That accounts for roughly 0.2 percent of South Korea's total GDP, according to official data. BTS holds the record as the most-streamed group on Spotify, and became the first K-pop act to top both the Billboard 200 and the Billboard Artist 100 charts in the United States. There had been debate over whether BTS should be granted exemptions from military service -- sometimes granted to Olympic medallists and classical artists who win top international awards -- but pop stars do not qualify under South Korean laws. With the lack of public consensus on the matter, the members enlisted individually, beginning in late 2022. kjk/ceb/dhw

Why ‘Jerry Maguire' perfected the player-agent dynamic

Yahoo Sports NFL analyst Nate Tice and ESPN's Mina Kimes break down the 1996 movie starring Tom Cruise and Cuba Gooding Jr. - and how the film was spot on in regards to the important relationship between star athlete and representative. Hear the full conversation on 'Football 301' - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts , Spotify , YouTube or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript 6 is something I did rewatch, uh, 3 years ago, not that long ago, and that is Jerry Maguire. Advertisement First of all, the performances are really what make it. I mean, I think ityou don't want it won Cuba Gooding Jr., you see why he won the Oscar for. It's a really incredible performance. It's a really nuanced performance as well. The relationship between him and his wife, and their dealings with the agent and the way they talk about Gary, his contracts and injuries, and itI, I found again, upon rewatching it, someone now who lives in this world finds that to be very accurate. And, you know, it's funny because I was like watching with my husband who's not really into football and sort of the business of football, and he was asking me like, would it actually happen as well? Advertisement I was like, actually, yeah, like the way they're talking about his contract. And whether or not he should roll the dice or take a lower deal, and what it means. And I was like, this is actually pretty accurate. And, um, so I think it's just nice, beyond the drama of it, and it'sit's at heart a romantic comedy, of course, but it is nice to see the business of football and being a player I thought represented pretty accurately. Even just the agency politics is really thatI thought was like, as I watched it as an adult, obviously, I, I probably watched it as a kid, but it was like one of those, like, whatever, and then, but as an adult I was like, oh wow, that's actually kind of real, like as far as how that kind of unfolds, and no, that's a great point, too, because the even just talking about like the player-agent dynamics, everyone always thinks, oh yeah, they're always on the same page, too, like everyone thinks, oh, they're always in lockstep, and people fight with their agents way more than people realize, and you know, and the whole dynamic of the agent works for the player or the person, you know, not even just including athletes here. Advertisement That works for it, but that's also a dynamic because it's, I need you, but I don't need you, you know, and that can lead to the frustration incentives align. Agent want them to maximize the money or take the risk? And of course he is his only client, that's the case's president, and I think the way the agent, when Jerry goes out on his own, separate from the Cuba Gooding Jr. part, and he, um. Uh, uh, tries to get the number one overall draft pick. I can't remember the name of the quarterback, uh, and they lie to his face and end up going with J. Moore's character; that's all super stuff like that happens all the time.

Ava Max Rings In July 4th Early With New Single ‘Wet, Hot American Dream'

Ava Max Summer is officially in full swing, and pop singer Ava Max is wasting no time in celebrating the weather warming up as the release of her third studio album Don't Click Play looms. With the 4th of July being right around the corner, it's fitting for her latest single to be titled 'Wet, Hot American Dream.' 'Wet, Hot American Dream," like previous Don't Click Play singles 'Lost Your Faith' and 'Lovin' Myself,' was produced by PinkSlip, who was behind Katseye's recent smash hit 'Gnarly.' 'Wet, Hot American Dream," similar to much of Max's catalog, is an upbeat pop track that would fit in as well at the pool as it does at the club. 'Feels like the summer, hundred degrees / I need a drink, someone pour me up a sex on the beach / You're on vacation from out of town / I wanna put you in my pocket, let me show you around," she sings on the track. "Tell me all your dirty secrets, all your fantasies / I wanna be your blue jean, white tee, wet, hot American dream / I'm not like other cowgirls / Unless you want me to be / I wanna be your blue jean, white tee, wеt, hot American dream.' When reflecting on the creative process behind her new album, Max admitted that she took some time to consider what she wanted it to sound like, ultimately deciding that simply opting for a cohesive pop project wasn't enough. '[I] had time to reset and figure out what I really wanted for this next album. I didn't want to just put an album together and put it out," she told Audacy in December. "[It] has slower songs, some pop, rock, [and] country records that the fans have never heard from me. And a couple of records that I think are the best records I've ever made in my entire life, which I'm very excited about that for people to hear.' Don't Click Play is out Aug. 22. The Don't Click Play Tour kicks off Sept. 3 in Los Angeles and wraps up Nov. 20 in Lisbon.
