Matěj Kovář's move to PSV awaits Manchester United's approval
The matter shouldn't prevent Kovář from joining the Dutch champions. As reported by Kicker yesterday, Kovář was in Eindhoven to complete his medical. A €5m sale with €2m in add-ons has been agreed upon by both clubs.

The English Red Devils have little reason not to waive their matching rights as they themselves pocketed €5m from Kovář's sale to Leverkusen, also securing a re-sale clause as part of the deal.
Plettenberg insinuates that United will cooperate. If the German transfer expert is correct, the deal should be confirmed tomorrow.
The only potential stumbling block concerns the fact that Holland's De Teelegraaf claims that Leverkusen are attempting to loan, not sell, Kovar.
If this report proves true, then United may wish to review their options in order to ensure they receive proper compensation under the re-sale clause.

Jorge Jesus on Al Nassr appointment: ‘Without Cristano Ronaldo's invitation, I wouldn't be there'
Jorge Jesus has said he would not have been appointed as new Al Nassr head coach without Cristiano Ronaldo's invitation. Portuguese coach Jesus, 70, has replaced Stefano Pioli as Al Nassr coach following last season's third-place Saudi Pro League (SPL) finish. Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January 2023 and has scored 99 goals in 111 first-team appearances, but has not yet won the SPL title nor tasted success in the Asian Champions League. Advertisement Jesus, who departed the club's Riyadh rivals Al Hilal in May, has now said that Ronaldo was influential in his arrival at the club. 'Without his invitation, I wouldn't be there,' Jesus said, in quotes carried by A Bola. 'Ronaldo is a player who has always won everything wherever he's played, but not yet in Saudi Arabia. I'll see if I can help him this year. 'We speak the same language, everything will be easy. I couldn't refuse the challenge Cristiano gave me.' It's official: ✍️Mr. Jorge Jesus is the new Head Coach of @AlNassrFC 💛 Welcome, Mister! 🧠 — AlNassr FC (@AlNassrFC_EN) July 14, 2025 Jesus, who dramatically left Benfica in 2015 to join their Lisbon rivals Sporting CP, has had two stints at Al Hilal but is now joining their city rivals. 'I love being in Saudi Arabia; it's the country of the future, in football and beyond,' he added. 'I am delighted to be returning. I've always been very happy. I've always won, and now I'm going to try to do it again.' The Athletic reported in March that Jesus was a leading contender to become Brazil head coach alongside Carlo Ancelotti, who assumed the role after leaving Real Madrid in May. ()

Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey attracting interest from Nottingham Forest
Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey is of interest to Nottingham Forest. Forest's interest in Ramsey comes with Tottenham Hotspur bidding for their attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. The Athletic previously reported that Tottenham pushed to get Ramsey last summer but could not complete a deal. Advertisement The 24-year-old is a Villa academy graduate, representing pure bookable profit for the West Midlands club if he is sold. While Ramsey's salary is manageable, a sale would further help Villa in their battle to reduce their wage bill below 70 per cent of overall turnover, complying with UEFA's guidelines and, in July, Villa were fined by UEFA for breaching its financial rules. At the start of the summer, Villa's wage bill stood in the mid-eighties, though have been gradually trimming this figure since. However, Ramsey would serve as 'club-trained', which Villa need when registering players in this season's squad for their Europa League campaign. It remains to be seen as to whether Villa would sanction a sale, with Unai Emery a firm advocate of the midfielder's ability and the club wanting to move on other players, such as Alex Moreno, Leander Dendoncker and Leon Bailey. Ramsey made his league debut in September 2020 as a 19-year-old and has made 167 senior appearances for Villa. Last season, the Englishman played 45 games across all competitions. He registered one goal and five assists over 29 appearances in the Premier League, having struggled with injuries. The Athletic reported on July 10 that Forest midfielder Gibbs-White was set for a medical at Tottenham, in line to follow wingers Anthony Elanga and Ramon Sosa leaving the club this summer. Analysis by Nottingham Forest correspondent Paul Taylor Forest's need to bolster their attacking arsenal was already increased by the £52m sale of Elanga to Newcastle. Although it is Gibbs-White who Ramsey would be more of a replacement for. It remains to be seen whether Gibbs-White will complete a move to London, after Forest were upset by the manner of Tottenham's £60m bid for their most influential player. Advertisement But the versatile attacking player, who can play wide on the left or in the number 10 role that Gibbs-White has made his own, would perfectly fit Forest's recruitment model, as a relatively young player who would still improve. Ramsey was on the radar of England manager Thomas Tuchel last season and playing regular football at Forest could aid his international ambitions. The fact that he can play in more than one position would also be an important factor for head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, who values such attributes in his players. Forest have already bolstered their options in the final third with the addition of Igor Jesus from Botafogo, while they remain keen on Brentford's Yoane Wissa. But Ramsey could also be an astute addition, if the club can get a deal over the line.

Newcastle insist Alexander Isak not for sale amid Liverpool interest in star man
Liverpool have not given up hope of prising striker Alexander Isak away from Newcastle, despite the Magpies' insistence he is not for sale. A report on Tuesday suggested the Reds are prepared to pay £120million for the 25-year-old Sweden international, who has been a huge hit at St James' Park since his £63million arrival from Real Sociedad during the summer of 2022. Advertisement The PA news agency understands there has been no formal contact between the two clubs over a player who is the subject of long-standing interest from Anfield. However, sources on Merseyside have indicated Isak is among a series of options being considered this summer as the Reds look to bolster their attacking options in the wake of the death of Diogo Jota and the possible departures of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa. The frontman, who is currently at a pre-season training camp in Austria with his team-mates, still has three years remaining on his contract on Tyneside and the Magpies, who are trying to tie him to a new deal, remain adamant he is going nowhere. Advertisement It is understood they have put a value on him of around £150million in an attempt to ward off potential suitors. Indeed, sources in the north east have insisted the club's ongoing pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, who has also been linked with Liverpool, is no indication they are seeking a replacement for the Swede, but rather a new team-mate. Newcastle's majority owners, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, have the financial clout to resist any approach should they remain steadfast in their determination to hang on to a player who is understood not to be agitating for a move. But in the age of profit and sustainability rules – head coach Eddie Howe was forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh last summer to avoid a points deduction – a formal bid which would all but double their money inside three years might at least cause them to pause for thought. Neither club has commented on the situation, which will prompt frenzied speculation on the banks of both the Mersey and the Tyne. Advertisement Isak, who has also been repeatedly linked with Arsenal, has been one of the flag-bearers for Newcastle's return to prominence under their new owners. His goals last season helped to fire the club into the Champions League for the second time in three years, and it was his strike at Wembley in March that effectively secured a 2-1 Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool which ended the Magpies' 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy. Meanwhile, Liverpool have told Bayern Munich Luis Diaz is not for sale after rejecting a £59million bid. PA understands the Bundesliga champions' offer of 67.5million euros (£58.6m) was immediately dismissed, in keeping with the club's stance which saw them rebuff an approach from Barcelona earlier in the summer. Advertisement Diaz is in the last two years of his contract and, while talks have not progressed over a new deal, privately Liverpool insist he remains an important player and interested clubs are being told that. There is also a long-standing interest from the Saudi Pro League in the 28-year-old Colombia international. Liverpool have rejected a £59million bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz (Mike Egerton/PA) Al-Hilal's failed 100m euros (£87m) bid for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who is two years older, is viewed by some as a benchmark valuation for an elite attacker in the domestic and global market, but regardless there remains no appetite to sell. Only a few weeks ago Diaz hinted at uncertainty over his future by claiming his representatives were openly discussing his options. Advertisement 'We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs, and that's normal given the transfer market that's opening,' he said last month. 'We're trying to arrange what's best for us.'
