Seahawks legend Shaun Alexander wakes up with 'GMFB'
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it's how new wide receiver DK Metcalf will handle being the top dog -- and maybe the only real threat at outside receiver. Metcalf has always been part of a deep group of wide receivers with the Seattle Seahawks, splitting targets with Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba the last two seasons. With Pittsburgh right now, he looks like he's the whole show, as the Steelers appear to once again be set to enter the season with just one solid option at outside receiver. Veteran Robert Woods, special teamer Ben Skowronek and undrafted rookie Roc Taylor appear to be the best options to help ease the pressure on Metcalf at this point -- not exactly a threatening list. So how will Metcalf handle the pressure? Alan breaks it down. #steelers #herewego #nfl CONNECT WITH STEELERS NOW: Steelers Now: https://steelersnow.com SN on Twitter: https://twitter.com/pghsteelersnow SN on FB: https://facebook.com/steelersnow SN on Insta: https://www.instagram.com/pghsteelersnow/

Celtics trade pitch finds ideal Kristaps Porzingis replacement by moving Simons
The Boston Celtics are still looking for ways to shed salary, and that could come in a few different ways. If Brad Stevens could also do that in a way to improve the rest of his roster, it's possible that things could look great for the Celtics in the short and long term. When recently looking for a few trade ideas around for Anfernee Simons, Matt Moore of FanSided proposed a few intriguing ones. Perhaps his most intriguing, however, was a deal with the Chicago Bulls for Nikola Vucevic and Ayo Dosunmu. MORE: Boston Celtics get: Nikola Vucevic, Ayo Dosunmu Chicago Bulls get: Anfernee Simons, Xavier Tillman 'The Bulls have a logjam of guards, so adding Simons is a little curious. But think of this way. In adding Simons, they can leverage him against Coby White, who is also on an expiring deal. The player who comes out on top gets extended. 'That, along with the Giddey extension, sets their direction for the long-term in the backcourt while Matas Buzelis develops... The Celtics shave off another $1.4 million off their cap space, while continuing to clean the books for 2026, and add a dogged defender in Dosunmu who fits their system better than Simons. Think of what Dosunmu will learn as Derrick White's understudy,' he wrote. Vucevic would be an interesting piece for the Celtics, as he has a somewhat similar skill set to Kristaps Porzingis. While Porzingis is much better, and tough to disagree with, Vucevic can also make shots from beyond the arc, so in that sense, they have some similarities. Dosunmu could also be a decent piece, and perhaps someone who could run the second unit, depending on what the Celtics want to do.

Report: Packers RB Emanuel Wilson avoids serious knee injury
Green Bay Packers running back Emanuel Wilson avoided a serious knee injury at Friday's practice and shouldn't miss much time, according to reporting from Bill Huber of Wilson, the team's backup running back behind Josh Jacobs last season, went down awkwardly while attempting to catch a pass during a team period on Friday. Despite initial concerns of a major injury, it appears Wilson avoided a worst-case scenario and will eventually return during training camp. Huber described the injury as a "tweak" and reported there is "no damage" inside the knee. The Packers are already without running back MarShawn Lloyd, who injured his groin during the team's first padded practice of the week and is expected to miss time into next week. Wilson rushed 103 times for 502 yards and four touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 48 yards and another touchdown across 17 games last season. The Packers also have veteran Chris Brooks, rookies Jalen White and Amir Johnson and recent addition Israel Abanikanda at running back behind Jacobs entering the team's Family Night practice at Lambeau Field on Saturday. The Packers open the preseason next Saturday at Lambeau Field against the New York Jets. Breaking down the Steelers picks in a new 7-round mock draft
The folks over at Pro Football Sports Network ran a full seven-round mock draft via their simulator, and we are going to break down the picks for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We appreciate the work that goes into a mock draft like this and we appreciate them thinking outside the box for the Steelers in the first round. First round - WR Jordyn Tyson - Arizona State After four quarterbacks go off the board in the Top 10 picks, the Steelers pivot here and go for the top receiver in the draft instead. Tyson is absolutely elite and a bargain this late in the round. He's one of the best route-runners of the last five years and impossible to guard one-on-one. Second round - QB Fernando Mendoza - Indiana The calculated risk pays off for the Steelers as Indiana's Fernando Mendoza is still on the board in the second round. By the time the draft gets here, there's a real chance Mendoza is long gone but for now, we will take this as a huge value pick. Third round - CB Chandler Rivers - Duke Assuming Darius Slay doesn't re-sign, adding Rivers here makes a lot of sense. He's got a nose for the football and has a very high ceiling. Third round - G DJ Campbell - Texas We look for Spencer Anderson to replace Isaac Seumalo should he move on after the season, but Campbell is a great option to be in as the top reserve guard on either side. Fourth round - OT Trey Zuhn - Texas A&M Zuhn has an NFL-caliber frame and length, excellent athleticism and lots of room to grow. Fifth round - DT Chris McClellan - Missouri McClellan is a prototypical 3-4 defensive lineman with the build the Steelers look for in a guy who can line up inside and outside. Sixth round - RB Kanye Udoh - Arizona State Udoh heads into the season with a ton of hype as he transferred to ASU from Army. It's an ideal circumstance for Udoh to showcase his skills, although he's not going to be a feature back. Seventh round - TE Tanner Koziol - Houston Crazy frame at 6-foot-7 and a surprisingly good athlete for all that length. Nice developmental prospect.
