Seth McLaughlin circled as Bengals UDFA most likely to make final 53
Ohio State center Seth McLaughlin was easily the biggest name for the Cincinnati Bengals in undrafted free agency this offseason.
It shouldn't come as a shock, then, to think that McLaughlin has the best shot at the final 53-man roster this summer, either.
Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski picked McLaughlin as the UDFA most likely to make the 53 while pointing out his injury woes:
"Unfortunately, McLaughlin also suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon, which could hamper his participation in training camp. Still, the Cincinnati Bengals should try to sneak McLaughlin onto the roster somehow, because he could potentially replace Ted Karras in the lineup."

The Rimington Trophy winner is a solid prospect, but it might be a little early to suggest he'll get the better of Ted Karras right now.
But much of the 53 projection really comes down to health. The Bengals were more than happy to get a local prospect at a good value and improve depth. Behind Karras, another fan-favorite prospect in 2024 seventh-rounder Matt Lee remains in the fray for the long-term job, too.

Bengals' legendary draft picks make best-ever lists

The Cincinnati Bengals don't often come up in national praise, although the tides continue to shift during the Joe Burrow era, at least. There are some big exceptions, though. When it comes time to look at some of the biggest hits in franchise history, well, the Bengals have some best-ever candidates. While running down the best draft picks ever at every pick, ESPN's Ben Solak singled out the Bengals in the No. 55 slot for a guy named Andrew Whitworth: 'Whitworth played 239 games over 16 seasons (wow!), and he needed all 16 of those seasons to get his ring with the Rams. Whit worked his way into a dominant back half of his career, making his first Pro Bowl at 31 and first All-Pro team at 34. The Bengals, who drafted him, will appreciate him for his 11 seasons of quality play, and the Rams enjoyed his strong sunset.' RELATED: Cincinnati Bengals' 53-man roster projection following 2025 offseason Despite the messy exit from Cincinnati due to ineptitude on the part of the Bengals at the time, Whitworth is one of the best players in franchise history and all parties certainly deserve the nod here. Not far down the list from Whitworth? A guy named Ken Anderson at No. 67: 'A 16-year vet of the Bengals, Anderson's 1981 season won him an MVP and took Cincinnati to its first-ever Super Bowl. I strived to avoid overweighting quarterbacks in this exercise, but even without a positional value bump, Anderson still clears the value of Alvin Kamara, also taken at No. 67 overall and one of the best third-round picks ever.' Not a bad duo when thinking about all-time Bengals picks in the top 100 of drafts. There's still plenty of time for some of the modern guys like Burrow to start making their case for much more competitive slots higher up the all-time order, too. Cowboys Trade For Trey Hendrickson Rumors Updated with Empty Connections

Cowboys Trade For Trey Hendrickson Rumors Updated with Empty Connections originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - NFL reigning sacks leader Trey Hendrickson wants to leave the Cincinnati Bengals. That is there problem. Advertisement The Dallas Cowboys have around $32 million under the salary cap. Is that their solution? It's right around July 4, the slowest time of the year for "news" in the NFL, with rosters set and training camps still weeks away. Add it all together, and lots of purported insiders and analysts are throwing "Hendrickson" and "Cowboys" together in headlines to see it it sticks. They use words like "urged" or "proposed" or "blockbuster" or even "connected." There's lots of Hendrickson to Cowboys keyword smoke. But absolutely no fire. The latest to join the fray is a site called Last Word on Sports. Their supposed reason for writing about the potential blockbuster trade of Hendrickson to Dallas? Advertisement "The Dallas Cowboys have been stacking up on talent defensively ever since they hired new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus," LWOS writes. "After signing Jack Sanborn and trading for Kenneth Murray Jr., they have some type of life following Demarcus Lawrence's departure. The hope is that they can extend Micah Parsons, but it would be interesting to see if Dallas could one day get Hendrickson to boost them to a well-rounded defensive line." "Interesting'' and "journalism'' are not the same thing. We've checked with the Cowboys on this. They recognize that this is no more than some fan-run sites playing Fantasy Football. Hendrickson led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024. He wants a new contract, and might hold out of training camp looking for a hefty raise. The Bengals aren't biting (yet), and gave him permission to seek a trade. Advertisement But the truth? Hendrickson will likely cost $30 million a year. The Cowboys are currently negotiating a new contract with Parsons. They're not going to dump their entire salary cap on Hendrickson. ... and they are not in the end going to employ a pair of pass-rushers - awesome as a Micah/Trey combo sounds - at a cost of $70 million APY. The Cowboys report for training camp July 21 in Oxnard, California. ... where we hope a Micah deal quiets the ongoing empty media game. Bengals' Zac Taylor drags Joe Burrow down in QB-coach NFL rankings

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is a top-five player at his position. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, however, is not a top-five coach in the NFL right now. So says new rankings from Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame, which aims to list the best quarterback-head coach duos in the NFL. Burrow and Taylor land just inside the top 10 at No. 9 overall: 'The Bengals might not have much defense, but they employ a good coach and a top-five quarterback. Burrow, the former No. 1 pick, had his best season in 2024, throwing for league-bests with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns to help Cincinnati stay in playoff contention until the final day. With Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins signed long-term, expect more fireworks for years to come.' RELATED: Cincinnati Bengals' 53-man roster projection following 2025 offseason The problem, as one should expect, is Taylor. Burrow is fourth in his respective rankings, while Taylor is 16th. It's a fair assessment, at least, as the debate continues as to whether Taylor should be on the hot seat and just how much leash the coaching staff should have on the goodwill of the recent Super Bowl appearance. For now, the Bengals will be more than happy to charge forward with a tandem that lands in the top 10 alongside the likes of Kansas City, no matter how lopsided the scale.
