Some unlucky phone owners will be plagued by dozens of these dodgy calls every single week.
But there's a little-known
It's called Call Blocking & Identification, but it's invisible on your phone – at least until you download the right app.
Once you download a call ID app, the feature will then show up in your settings.

There are loads of call ID apps out there.
They maintain giant databases of phone numbers that are known to be linked to spam or scam operations.
So once you've got the app and the feature switched on, your calls will be screened to see if there's a match with a dodgy database.
That way, you can avoid having to put up with non-stop spam calls.

HOW TO TURN IT ON
First, you'll need to go to the official Apple App Store and download some call ID apps.
Some popular options are Truecaller and Whoscall, but there are loads out there.

And the more you have installed, the greater your chance of catching a dodgy number.
Once you've downloaded them, you can go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification.
This setting will only appear if you have at least one call ID apps installed.
Chose the option to Silence Junk Callers (which works based on your carrier) and then activate any Call Identification apps that you've installed.

TRY SILENCING UNKNOWN CALLERS
Here's another trick that's worth trying...
You can actually set your iPhone up to silence all phone calls from unknown callers.
If you turn the setting on, unknown callers will be sent straight to voicemail.
Just go to Settings > Apps > Phone > Calls > Silence Unknown Callers and toggle it on.
Also, if you've got iOS 17 or later (go to Settings > General > Software Update to check) then you can read transcriptions of your voicemail so you don't have to listen to them.
And they should show up in real-time as the voicemail is being left.

It's called Call Screening, and it's a new trick due out in the upcoming

A future iOS update will introduce a Call Screening feature that uses a robot to vet your calls for you
Once it's out, go to Settings > General > Software Update to claim the new
features

Then when that's installed, your phone will use a virtual AI robot to automatically screen your calls.
It will ask the person's name and reason for calling – all using a robot voice – and then write out the answer for you in real-time on your screen.
Once that appears, you can decide whether to answer, or instead send it to voicemail if you think it's a scam.

Nvidia set to become world's most valuable company in history
Nvidia was on track to become the most valuable company in history today, with the chipmaker's market capitalisation reaching $3.92 trillion as Wall Street doubled down on optimism about AI. Shares of the leading designer of high-end AI chips were up 2.2% at $160.6 in morning trading, giving the company a higher market capitalisation than Apple's record closing value of $3.915 trillion on December 26, 2024. Nvidia's newest chips have made gains in training the largest artificial-intelligence models, fueling demand for products by the Santa Clara, California, company. Microsoft is currently the second-most valuable company on Wall Street, with a market capitalisation of $3.7 trillion as its shares rose 1.5% to $498.5. Apple rose 0.8%, giving it a market value of $3.19 trillion, in third place. A race among Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Alphabet and Tesla to build AI data centers and dominate the emerging technology has fueled insatiable demand for Nvidia's high-end processors. "When the first company crossed a trillion dollars, it was amazing. And now you're talking four trillion, which is just incredible. It tells you that there's this huge rush with AI spending and everybody's chasing it right now," said Joe Saluzzi, co-manager of trading at Themis Trading. The stock market value of Nvidia, whose core technology was developed to power video games, has increased nearly eight-fold over the past four years, from $500 billion in 2021. 'I've never lost luggage with Apple Air tags available at cheap price for Amazon Prime Day'
Bluetooth trackers, the minuscule tech devices that allow you to monitor the whereabouts of your possessions, whether it's suitcases, handbags, wallets, or passports, are becoming increasingly popular. Apple's well-liked AirTag has seen a price drop thanks to an early Amazon Prime Day discount - it's a product I always recommend to my friends and family, having used it on trips to France, New York, Italy, and Botswana. Apple's AirTag utilises the Apple Find My Network, enabling users to track its movements. Normally priced at €40.54 for one, it's currently available for €32.42 on Amazon. This early 2025 Prime Day discount makes it more affordable than on Apple's own website, reports the Mirror. The trackable device is straightforward to set up for iOS users. Once the AirTag is activated, simply bring it close to your iPhone or iPad and a 'connect' notification will appear. Then assign a name to it (which is what you'll be tracking) and register it with your Apple ID. I did this back in 2022, and since using an AirTag for travel, I've never misplaced my luggage. The AirTag emits a personal network that can be detected by other nearby AirTag users. It will send its location to these users who can then share the location with you, anonymously. Apple aficionados may already be familiar with the 'Find My' app, and the AirTag is tracked in a similar manner to how you'd locate a misplaced phone during the 'Find My iPhone' era. With the Find My app, I can instantly see where my bags are and when they were last at that location - a feature I find particularly useful when boarding a plane, as it allows me to check if my luggage has been loaded. However, AirTags do have a drawback for many travellers and mobile users, as they are exclusive to iOS, leaving Android users out in the cold. This is where competing devices like the Tile tag and select models from the Chipolo brand can prove beneficial. Chipolo, Tile and Samsung alternatives The Tile by Life360 is available for purchase on Amazon for €40.53. A slight uptick compared to the currently discounted AirTag. Like the AirTag, it also tracks items it's attached to via an app, but instead of immediately seeing the tracker's location upon opening the app (as with the AirTag), you have to select 'location history'. I've previously put the Tile tracker head-to-head with the AirTag while jetting off on holiday, and it does provide a slightly more accurate location on the map, offering a view of nearby shops and attractions that iOS lacks. Another alternative is Chipolo. The Chipolo Card Spot, which is only compatible with iPhones, is currently reduced to €22 and offers a slimmer option that can easily fit into purses and wallets. During a recent getaway, I took the opportunity to trial Chipolo's CARD Spot. Its slender design, akin to a bank card, is ideal for tucking into a wallet, passport, or ID, much like the Tile by Life360 or Eufy SmartTrack Card. However, I chose to pop it in my suitcase pocket for tracking during my flight. There's a snag, though, as it relies solely on Apple's Find My network, not its own app. Retailing at €24.32 in the sale, the CARD Spot offers features that distinguish it from the AirTag and Tile pack. But, if you're an Android user, this gadget won't be suitable due to its lack of compatibility.
