French cops shrug & claim ‘it's difficult' as they stand & watch migrant family almost drown in bid to board small boat

The Sun11-06-2025
A FAMILY almost drowned today as they struggled to board a migrant boat — while ten French cops watched from the shore and shrugged: 'It's difficult.'.
The mum, dad and young children were among a group of asylum seekers who tried but failed to wade out to the dinghy in time.

Fighting their way through currents, they returned in silence to the beach in Gravelines, around 15 miles east of Calais.
The family, believed to be from Eritrea, finally recovered enough to declare they would try again to clamber on to the estimated £1,200-a-spot 'taxi' to Britain.
Just feet away were the cops, watching with binoculars. They wore riot helmets and some carried shields and pepper spray.
Asked why they would not intervene when it was clearly so perilous, one officer simply told The Sun: 'It's difficult.'
The boat had been launched just before 5am further up the coast, and arrived to pick up the migrants.
A waiting crowd then ran out from the sand dunes.
French law enforcement have long said it is too risky to act once the boat is in the water — meaning the officers merely watched as the danger unfolded before missing the chance to arrest one of the smugglers.
The Sun saw the boat turn up.
First a large group of men scrambled aboard, followed by women and families with children.
One man appeared barely able to keep his head above water, as he desperately reached from the sea towards the dinghy.

Others held on to each other as they fought to keep their kids out of the surf.
One cop kept an eye on the inflatable dinghy while four others stood chatting behind him.
Another began filming the incident on his phone, while a pal inhaled from a vape.
At one stage it appeared the boat was overloaded, with its engine either broken or not powerful enough.
But it eventually set off, leaving a group of around ten people without a place.
It momentarily paused, giving the desperate migrants a glimmer of hope, but by then the water was already too deep.
MAKESHIFT CAMP
A suspected smuggler who had steered the boat leapt out and made it to shore — leaving the passengers to negotiate the treacherous crossing alone.
He took the group who had missed out back to their makeshift camp, but the police had already left the scene.
He became aggressive when approached by The Sun.
The family who came close to drowning stayed silent when asked how they were and why they were prepared to take young children on the crossing.
They also did not respond when asked if they realised how dangerous the crossing was.
But asked if they would try again, a boy believed to be eight or under heartbreakingly admitted 'Yes'.

Meanwhile another small boat was spotted setting off further down the coast, trailed by a French warship.
The two dinghies carried an estimated total of 150 migrants.
Photographs from Dover later showed many in life jackets being brought ashore after being intercepted by a UK Border Force patrol.
It is unclear if these were the same migrants we saw, or others who set off elsewhere from the France.
More than 15,000 people have illegally crossed the Channel this year, figures compiled by the Tories showed. This breaks last year's record of 13,489 arrivals in the first six months.
There have also been ten migrant deaths in the Channel this year.
Britain is paying France £476million for a deal which is supposed to see border commanders in Calais prevent crossings. But police routinely refuse to do anything once migrants are in the sea.
The Sun on Sunday last week told how French police union boss Fabien Vanhemelryck had been branded a hypocrite.
'HYPOCRITE' UNION BOSS
It emerged he had called migrants 'scum' and a 'pain' — yet was leading the charge against officers having to intervene.
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP slammed a 'total loss of border control'.
He added: '2025 is the worst year ever for small boat crossings so far. While traffickers and criminal gangs rake in millions, Labour Ministers stand in Westminster rehearsing soundbites.'
The Home Office said: 'We have returned nearly 30,000 people with no right to be here and have driven up illegal working arrests by 42 per cent.
'We know more needs to be done with the French to build upon the 10,000 crossing attempts that we have stopped this year, and we are strengthening our cooperation to do this.'
They added of the Tory plan to process asylum seekers in a third country: 'The Rwanda plan was not a deterrent. It did not lead to one person being forcibly removed and cost the taxpayer £700million.'

Revealed: the gang bosses and money movers sanctioned over small boats

A company in China that sells small boats for Channel migrant crossings between France and the UK is among a list of organisations and individuals sanctioned by the UK. The Foreign Office has named and shamed 25 individuals and entities as part of the first wave of sanctions targeting key figures in the people smuggling gangs that have ferried more than 170,000 migrants to the UK in small boats since 2018. They will now face having any UK assets frozen and be banned from travelling to the UK, similar to how other sanction regimes work, such as those targeting Russian oligarchs. Individuals named on the list include Alen Basil, a former police translator who went on to lead a large people smuggling network in Serbia. He is accused of terrorising refugees with the aid of corrupt policemen. Basil was subsequently found to be living in a house in Serbia worth more than €1 million, bought with money extorted from countless desperate migrants. Another sanctioned is Bledar Lala, an Albanian who is in control of the 'Belgium operations' of an organised criminal group that smuggles migrants from Belgium across the Channel. Another is Muhammed Khadir Pirot, one of the 'middlemen' responsible for transferring cash paid by migrants through the ancient money transfer system known as hawala, which is used by people smugglers as a way of taking payments to minimise the risk of being caught. • What I saw at the Channel smuggler trial that exposed their tactics Two other individuals accused of operating hawala are Mariwan Jamal, who handles payments to people smugglers from migrants in Iraq, and Rafiq Shaqlaway, who is involved as an advisor to migrants looking to pay smugglers operating routes into Europe via Turkey. The Chinese company sanctioned, Weihai Yamar Outdoors Product Co, is accused by the Foreign Office of explicitly advertising small boats on an online marketplace for the purpose of people smuggling. Its website sells the same type of lightweight rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) that are used by people smugglers, in which migrants are packed and sent across the Channel from northern France to England. It offers a 'Just in Time' service that promises products to 'arrive or be replenished exactly when needed in the production process'. There are seven individuals on the sanctions list linked to Kurdish gangs, which dominate the people smuggling trade for cross-Channel migration. They include Goran Assad Jalal, who formed part of an organised crime group that stowed migrants in refrigerated lorries, crossing from France into the UK on at least ten occasions between January and March 2019, and Hemin Ali Salih, who also helped smuggle migrants into the UK in the backs of lorries. There is also Dedawan Dazey, a people smuggler who runs safe houses for migrants in Northern France before they are smuggled to the United Kingdom. Roman Ranyaye, an Iraqi people smuggler responsible for the smuggling of migrants from Asia to Europe, is also on the list. Azad Khoshnaw, Nuzad Khoshnaw and Nihad Mohsin Xoshnaw are named for equipping gangs in northern France with outboard motors, inflatable boats and other maritime equipment for use in people smuggling to the UK. Kazawi Gang, a people smuggling network that controls illegal migration routes from north Africa into the EU and is known to deal out harsh punishments to migrants who are unable to pay, has been sanctioned. So too has the Tetwani Gang, known as one of the Balkans' most violent people-smuggling gangs, members are reported to hold migrants for ransom and sexually abuse women unable to pay their fees. David Lammy, the foreign secretary, said it was a 'landmark moment in the government's work to tackle organised immigration crime [and] reduce irregular migration to the UK'. 'From Europe to Asia we are taking the fight to the people smugglers who enable irregular migration, targeting them wherever they are in the world and making them pay for their actions. 'My message to the gangs who callously risk vulnerable lives for profit is this: we know who you are, and we will work with our partners around the world to hold you to account.' • Trevor Phillips: Tackling the small boats crisis begins at home The measures aim to target organised crime gangs wherever they are in the world and disrupt their flow of cash, including freezing bank accounts, property and other assets, to hinder their activities. It will be illegal for UK businesses and banks to deal with anyone named on the list. The move follows legislation being introduced under the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill to ramp up enforcement powers for police forces and partners to investigate and prosecute people smugglers.

Tour de France prankster who invaded track LAID OUT in enormous crash after being tackled by police

Joshua Hall, Sports Reporter Published: Invalid Date, POLICE and security were forced to tackle a 'prankster' who invaded the track at the Tour de France, just moments before the stage's conclusion. The end of stage 17 almost ended in calamity when a spectator leapt over the boardings with his bike and tried to ride across the finish line. 11 11 11 11 The unknown individual was dressed in full gear so as to look like a team rider, but was immediately spotted by onlookers. The man was wearing a Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale jersey. Images released of the incident show that the man managed to cross the finish line before he was tackled by a police offer and fell off his bike and to the ground. He was then quickly removed from the track in order to clear a pathway for the fast-approaching leaders who were due to follow soon after. SunSport have contacted the Tour de France for comment. It's not the first time that there have been issues on the track at this year's Tour either. Security . The track-invader sprinted down the race course with his hands in the air just 25 metres from the finish line of the stage last Wednesday, with riders cycling past as it happened. 11 11 The protestor was wearing a t-shirt that read: "Israel out of the Tour." He also held a keffiyeh, a black-and-white checkered headdress and pro-Palestine symbol. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos team car CRASHES into fan and sends them flying in air in shocking scenes at Tour de France The individual was tackled, thrust against the boardings and hauled off the road by security. Other fan incidents at this year's Tour de France have included an Ineos team car hitting into a spectator that stepped onto the road during the 14th stage of the race. Fortunately today's incident didn't cause any crashes. However, pouring rain in the final 30km of the 60.4km stage from Bollene to Valence did cause a crash of its own. With just 1km left to go a mass crash took out Tim Merlier and Biniam Girmay, opening the door for Jonathan Milan to claim his second stage victory of this year's Tour. Speaking after the win, Milan said: "This is a really fantastic team victory and I have to thank them from the bottom of my heart. "I survived with the help of my team-mates. Without this, I would not be here. They delivered me in the best position [for the finish]." 11 11 11

Cops ESCORTING lefties IN to Epping to battle angry locals protesting over migrant hotel proves two tier policing exists

JUST when you thought our police forces couldn't get any more inept and ludicrous, along comes Ben-Julian Harrington. As you've probably seen, there has been a week of protests in Epping about the presence there of a hotel stuffed full of asylum seekers. 6 6 One of the migrants has been up in court charged with sexually assaulting a child. Locals say they don't feel safe in their little village any more. They are sick to the back teeth of it. And so they protested, as is their right. However, the whole thing turned very nasty when a bunch of deluded morons from Stand Up To Racism arrived to oppose the views of the locals. A battle took place, likely instigated by the lefties. A battle took place, instigated by the lefties. But it's now been revealed that the Stand Up to Racism rabble were escorted to the hotel where the demonstration was taking place. By the police. At first the coppers lied and said they hadn't escorted the lefties. Then, when footage was revealed of the coppers marching alongside the Stand Up To Racism shower, they fessed up. It is hard to imagine a more stupid action by the old bill. An action which also clearly showed a partisan approach by the police. They were on the side of the lefties. Nigel Farage has described the decision to escort the dunderheads as 'absolutely disgraceful'. He has also called for the Chief Constable of Essex to resign. The Chief Constable of Essex is the aforementioned Ben-Julian Harrington. This is the dimwit responsible for this dangerous, atrocious decision. His first reaction to events was to refuse to resign. Despite the fact that his force facilitated serious disorder on the streets of Epping. And enraged the locals who had been making their points peacefully. Police swarm 4-star London hotel set to house asylum seekers as furious protesters gather outside It is hard to credit, isn't it? They chaperoned people from outside the area into the trouble zone, seemingly to make things much, much worse. And in doing so immediately conveyed the impression that they had taken sides in the dispute. Can you imagine the coppers chaperoning Jews to a march being held by the Hamas groupies, for example? It just wouldn't happen. Ben-Julian Harrington has denied that his force showed a partisan approach. But the evidence suggests that the reverse is the truth of the matter. He should of course resign. And the people of Epping should be given an official apology for this incredible lapse in policing standards. Because this all plays very easily into the notion — surely by now a fact — that we have two-tier policing in this country. Shout hatred about Jewish people while marching in London in your stupid keffiyeh and the police will look on indulgently. Tweet something a bit nasty about setting fire to migrant hotels and you'll be banged up for 30 months. Demonstrate about the enormous number of migrants living for nowt in hotels up and down the country and the coppers will brand you far right and send in the heavies to break up the demo. But if you're on the other side of the argument, they'll actually give you a police escort and show you where the action is taking place. What happened in Epping will infuriate millions of people a long way from the borders of Essex. It is evidence once again that the authorities are not on the side of ordinary people. The police have become the politically correct upholders of injustice. NO ONE GETS OK TO STAY 6 ANGELA RAYNER has warned that we might be in for a summer of rioting. This follows a week of disturbances outside a hotel for migrants in Epping, Essex, and some bother in the Norfolk town of Diss. The Deputy PM has suggested this 'threatens social cohesion'. Too right, Ange. But what are you going to do about it? Nothing whatsoever is the answer. And then when the trouble does flare up, just blame it on the 'far-right'. It's not the far right, Angela. It's the voice of the country. We have had enough. Never mind what stupid international laws we break. Anybody who comes here illegally should be sent back. All of them. No exceptions. And no matter how grim their country of origin. MORE than 100 people have died of starvation in Gaza, say Palestinian officials. Mass starvation is a real threat. And yet Israel continues its policy of destruction. Gradually the country is losing all the friends it had in the west. I am a huge supporter of the Middle East 's only proper democracy. And yes, Hamas should return the remaining hostages. But enough is enough. You don't win wars by starving children. TOUR DE FARCE SO here's what happened when Holly Passmore returned from a short trip to Israel. A few days later the plod came knocking at her door. They asked her why she had been to Israel. She told them to mind their own business. Then the coppers came back with somebody from the Government's totally useless Prevent anti- terror team. They tried to cross examine her again. Incredible. Israel is not a terror state. Going to Israel – which many people do every year – does not make you a terrorist. It makes you a TOURIST. When are the police going to get real and sort out crimes that actually matter to people? IT'S LAST CURTAIN FOR OZ IT'S very sad to hear that Ozzy Osbourne has kicked the bucket. But honestly, how the hell did he reach 76? It's remarkable when you consider the legendary tales of excess. Having been the dark lord of heavy metal in the 1970s, he ended up a kind of national institution. Not bad going for a bloke who once sang: 'Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope?', and who bit the head off a bat – and, reputedly, a dove. But he came across in later years as a rather loveable old Brummie. Truth is, no matter how seriously some of the fans took it, heavy metal has always had a big dose of pantomime in it. And Black Sabbath were probably more pantomime than most. RIP Ozzy. THE Government is to lower the voting age to include 16 and 17-year-olds. It says it is doing this to be more democratic. But it's really doing it because that age group is so dense they all vote Labour or Green. In other words, it is gerrymandering. If it was down to me, I'd raise the voting age to 25. And the age at which you can drive a car too, come to that. Two places we don't want 16-year-olds – in the polling booth and behind a steering wheel. SPOT OF LUNACY I'VE seen some hideous football strips in my time. Dulwich Hamlet's pink and black outfit for a start. Or there's Coventry City 's brown strip from the late 1970s. Or Arsenal 's away kit from two seasons ago that made the players resemble zebras with jaundice. But you'd have to go a long way to beat Forest Green's kit this season. It's kinda lime leopard print. The fans hate it. The only person who seems to like it is club owner and eco-loon Dale Vince. He reckons the shirts are eco-friendly. Probably made from chewed up and spat out bars of nougat. TAKE PRIDE IN LIONESSES FOR SEEING SENSE 6 WOW, you have to say this about the Lionesses. They are nothing if not tenacious. Twice now they've been down and out. And then come back from the dead. They're showing a bit of character politically, too. They are now refusing to do that stupid, demeaning gesture of taking the knee. It is astonishing that this ludicrous act of virtue- signalling is still being performed by football teams. We long ago dropped any pretence that Black Lives Matter was anything other than a thoroughly nasty organisation. So why continue with the gesture that made the group famous? It makes no sense. And, as the Lionesses have said themselves, it does absolutely nothing to combat racism.
