John Cena Quickly Defeats R-Truth At WWE Saturday Night's Main Event
R-Truth finally got his chance to face his 'childhood hero' John Cena at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025, but it didn't end well for the former 24/7 Champion.
When John Cena announced his retirement tour last year, hardly anyone had Cena vs. R-Truth on their bingo card of potential matches for Cena on his final run as a WWE star. But a joke started by Truth years ago all led to this: Cena vs. Truth in an unlikely battle between two of WWE's longest-tenured superstars.
Inside the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Truth's improbable match against his idol ended in quick fashion as Cena blasted Truth with a low blow behind the referee's back and nailed him with an Attitude Adjustment. One, two, three. It was over almost as quickly as it started.
Truth, one of WWE's most beloved stars, unsurprisingly had the Tampa crowd firmly behind him even though Tampa is Cena's adopted hometown. Another shocker: Truth nearly eeked out a win with an AA of his own. Then, Cena kicked out and quickly rebounded with a cheap shot and AA that continued Cena's improbable heel run.
With the WWE Universe largely in his corner, Truth was a sentimental favorite heading into WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. But of course, a past-his-prime comedic superstar wasn't going to be the one to end Cena's record-breaking 17th world title reign, no matter how bad Cena's run as a heel has been thus far.
Sure, Cena continues to be mostly booed after his unlikely heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber back in March. Are those jeers, however, a result of Cena being a good villain or the fans hating a character that simply hasn't clicked?
Cena has promised time and time again in his repetitive promos that he is back to 'ruin' wrestling. 'The Champ' hasn't exactly done that yet, however, and as Cena has struggled to get a grasp on his heel gimmick, WWE already began planting seeds at Backlash earlier this month hinting at Cena turning back to the babyface side.
In the long term, Cena could and should end his career as a beloved fan favorite because, well, this heel shtick simply isn't cutting it. But at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, the creative took another step forward with heel Cena, this time with the Undisputed Champion once again using an underhanded tactic to secure the victory.
Indeed, that was the second time in just a few weeks that Cena made quick work of Truth. The first came in memorable fashion at the Backlash post-show press conference, where Cena sent Truth crashing through a table with a massive Attitude Adjustment finisher. Ironically enough, Cena beat Truth the same way at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, only this time without a table involved.
It was the exact type of cheap victory fans expected of Cena, who is widely expected to resume his feud with Cody Rhodes and likely drop the WWE title back to 'The American Nightmare' in the not-so-distant future. At this stage of his career as time is running out, Cena really doesn't need to be involved in the world title picture, and in fact, losing that title could be what propels him back to being a fan favorite.
At WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in Tampa, the time wasn't right for Cena to lose. Of course, neither was the opponent.
There is, however, no shortage of potential rivals for Cena to ultimately drop his title to on a major pay-per-view stage. Whether that's Rhodes, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns or a rising star, Cena should be on borrowed time as world champion, and WWE should make a genuine effort to book something more compelling for Cena going forward.
A one-off match with Truth was relatively harmless, but with WWE Saturday Night Main event in the rearview mirror, WWE's next step should be to book Cena in a rivalry that truly matters.

Fox Sees Q4 Profit Rise on Fox News, Tubi Results
Fox Corp. said high ratings at Fox News Channel and growing advertiser interest at its Tubi streaming service bolstered performance in its fiscal fourth quarter, with the company's focus on live programming, sports and news shielding it from some of the challenges its rivals are facing in an era when more consumers are using on-demand broadband for more of their video entertaiment. The owner of the Fox broadcast network and Fox Sports said revenue in the period rose 6%, or $195 million, to $3.29 billion, largely on the strength of advertiser interest in Tubi and Fox News. Ad revenues rose 7% during the period, Fox said, while affiliate revenue rose 3%. More from Variety Fox Corp. Fox said its fourth quarter net income came to $717 million, or $1.57 per share, compared with $319 million, or $.68 per share, in the year-earlier period. Excluding items, Fox reported adjusted earnings of $581 million, or $1.27 per share. While Disney, NBCUniversal and others have put many of their resources toward building out new streaming venues, Fox has maintained a hold in the linear world, still focused on drawing large, simultaneous audiences to everything from IndyCar racing to Greg Gutfeld's 10 p.m. program on Fox News Channel each weekday night. To be sure, Fox has launched streaming outlets, including Tubi and Fox Nation, but they are largely seen as complementary to the company's linear outlets — not a substitute for them. Those dynamics may be set to change. Fox intends to unveil a new streaming outlet, Fox One, in the next few weeks. The service will make its linear sports and news offerings — as well as other content — available via streaming, though Murdoch has said the company's intent is to court audiences who do not already have subscriptions to cable or satellite services and otherwise might not watch Fox programming. Revenue from Fox's cable networks rose 7%, or $94 million,. to $1.53 billion, owing to a $20 million hike in affiliate fees and a $50 million increase in advertising. Fox said it also saw $24 million in revenue from other sources, including Fox Nation subscriptions. Revenue from traditional TV operations rose 6%, or $92 million, to $1.71 billion. Fox said ad revenue rose $21 million, citing 'continued digital growth' at Tubi. Affiliate fees rose $29 million during the period. 'My Heart Sank': Here's What Twiggy Herself Has Said About That Viral 1967 Interview Where 'Cruel' Woody Allen Tried To Humiliate Her
A 58-year-old interview is going viral after people were left impressed by the expert way that British supermodel Twiggy reacted to director Woody Allen's attempt to embarrass her. Twiggy, who would have been just 17 years old at the time, is being lauded for how she handled the potentially awkward situation, with then-31-year-old Woody seemingly belittling her intelligence during the uncomfortable conversation. Related: Woody kicked off the 1967 interview by asking Twiggy her thoughts on 'serious matters,' and when she asks what he means by that, he replies: 'I don't know, who's your favorite philosopher?' Twiggy can't hide her shock at the question, and she laughs awkwardly before answering: 'I haven't got one, I have no idea.' She then curiously asks: 'Who's yours?' 'Oh, I like them all,' Woody stutters in response, but Twiggy refuses to let him get away that easily. 'Who?' she asks again, and Woody sheepishly replies: 'All your basic philosophers.' 'Who?' Twiggy repeats, Woody once again stumbles over his words as he says: 'Just all of them.' Related: 'I don't know their names though,' Twiggy confesses, with a serious look on her face. 'What are their names?' Twiggy previously revealed that this interview took place during her first-ever trip to New York, and that she wanted to run off and 'burst into tears' when Woody first asked the question. "There was one person who wasn't so nice — a young comic called Woody Allen, and he was to interview me for a documentary," she told Glamour in 2009. "His first question was: 'Who's your favorite philosopher?' My heart sank. I wanted to run off and burst into tears. I didn't know any philosophers. And he probably knew I didn't.' 'When I said so, he replied: 'Oh, come on, everyone has a favorite philosopher.' It was such a cruel thing to do to a young girl," she continued. Twiggy also revealed that Woody left the set and refused to continue with the interview after she turned the tables on him. Related: "I was desperate and trying not to cry, but I turned the tables on him and asked him to come up with some names — but he couldn't think of any either!' Twiggy recalled. 'Then he said to me: 'I suppose you've read Dickens,' thinking I hadn't. So I said: 'Yeah, I read him at school.' In the end, he said: 'Oh, I can't interview her,' and left the stage." And in a 2025 interview with the Guardian, Twiggy said: 'He was trying to make me look stupid. My heart sank. I remember looking at him, pleading with my eyes for him to stop.' 'If I was the age he was there, in my 30s, I would never have behaved like that towards someone who was only 17,' she added. The interview clip resurfaced on X on Sunday and quickly went viral, racking up over four million views and thousands of likes and retweets as other users praised Twiggy's reaction. One quote-tweet that has been liked more than 92,000 times reads: 'She was 17, a perfectly acceptable age to not know any philosophers but a very impressive age to embarrass a 31 year old with his own bullshit.' 'I love how the look in her eye goes from bashful to, 'oh, I'm going for the kill now. Game on,'' somebody else noted. 'The funniest part about this is you'd think the obvious thing to do if you plan to ask a question to humiliate someone is to know the answer yourself, but the thought never even crossed his mind,' another wrote. And one more concluded: ''What are your thoughts on serious matters?' is the most fake intellectual question of all time like… which one???'
