India Gazette04-07-2025
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], July 4 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday stated that the best place to establish a memorial for Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao was the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasia.
Speaking at the unveiling of the warrior's statue in Pune, Shah stated that Bajira had the traits of a good soldier.
'He has done incredible work for the country and for our independence... The best example of an individual who had the qualities of a good soldier was Peshwa Bajirao... In 21 years, he fought 41 wars, and no one can break that record...' Shah said while addressing the people at the unveiling ceremony.
He further stated that if the legacy of Shivaji Maharaj had not been taken forward by Peshwa Bajirao, the country's original character would have been lost.
'If the legacy continued by Shivaji Maharaj wasn't taken forward by Peshwa Bajirao, the country's original character would have been lost. He fought not just for our country but also for our 'Swaraj', Shah further stated.
He further stated that it was the responsibility of 140 crore Indians to take forward a vision of the country that Bajirao had.
'It is the responsibility of the 140 crore Indians to take forward a vision that Peshwa Bajirao had for the country, and we are doing it. One of the best examples is our Operation Sindoor...' he further added.

NDA outrage more meaningful if support on Manipur violence too: Dimple Yadav on cleric's remark

Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Monday said the NDA's outrage over a cleric's derogatory comments against her would be more meaningful had similar solidarity been shown during incidents like the violence in Manipur. The cleric, Maulana Sajid Rashid, reportedly made a misogynistic comment about Yadav who was wearing a sari at a meeting in a mosque and compared her to another woman SP MP, Iqra Hasan, who had covered her head. The comment led to widespread condemnation on social media and in political circles, including from BJP's Bansuri Swaraj and Congress' Renuka Chowdhury. NDA MPs also held a protest outside Parliament in protest. 'It's good that action is being taken now…But it would have been better if similar protests and support had been visible when horrifying incidents like the one in Manipur came to light through footage on social media. Back then, if people had stood together the way they are now over the Operation Sindoor issue, it would have shown genuine concern,' Yadav said.

P Chidambaram Responds To Controversy Over 'Evidence' Remarks On Pahalgam Terror Attack

Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram has addressed the political storm surrounding his recent comments on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. Chidambaram, in an interview, questioned why the attackers have not been apprehended or their identities revealed, asking, 'Why have you not apprehended them? Why have you not even identified them?' This led to accusations by the BJP, notably Amit Malviya, who claimed that Chidambaram and the Congress were giving a "clean chit" to Pakistan. Responding to the controversy on social media, Chidambaram criticized what he called the 'worst kind of troll'—those who distort interviews by sharing only selective clips. He stated that such actions misrepresent his position and spread misinformation. He also noted the lack of comprehensive official information about the case, highlighting that details have been released only piecemeal by various officials, while there has been silence from top ministers. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), meanwhile, has arrested two local men alleged to have assisted the terrorists and maintains that the attackers were Pakistani nationals, although their names have not yet been released. Chidambaram continues to challenge the narrative, suggesting that the possibility of 'homegrown terrorists' should not be dismissed without clear evidence and transparency from the authorities. Chidambaram is scheduled to participate in the upcoming parliamentary debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, where these issues are expected to be discussed in detail.
