50% scholarships: Registration opens for Dubai's distinguished students programme
The initiative provides 415 scholarship seats at 28 private schools for high-achieving Emirati students, offering a 50 per cent tuition fee scholarship for those in Grade 1 to Grade 10 at schools rated Good or better.
The initiative, launched in 2024 to enhance collaboration between the public and private sectors in providing high-quality educational opportunities for outstanding Emirati students in Dubai, aligns with the Education 33 strategy and reinforces the city's commitment to academic excellence and investing in the future of its youth.
More participating schools
Building on the success of its inaugural year, the programme now offers families greater choice in curriculum, location, and tuition fees. Participating schools that have signed agreements to support the scholarship programme in its second year include six rated Outstanding, 14 rated Very Good, and eight rated Good. These schools provide diverse curricula, including UK, US, IB, and UK/IB and US/IB combinations, ensuring that Emirati students have access to education choices that align with their aspirations and future goals.
The scholarship
The scholarship programme supports the Education 33 strategy's goal of nurturing Dubai's future leaders by empowering Emiratis with high-quality education. Participating schools also benefit from a more enriched learning community by welcoming Emirati students, while also playing a crucial role in improving educational outcomes.
Applications for the 2025-26 academic year will be open from February 24 to March 10, 2025. The scholarship is available to Emirati students with a family book issued by the emirate of Dubai. The programme covers 50 per cent of tuition fees for students from Grade 1 or Year 2 until Grade 10 or Year 11 who are either newly or currently enrolled in public or private schools in the UAE. Students currently enrolled in the participating schools are not eligible for the scholarship.
Eligibility criteria
Eligible students must have an average grade of 90 per cent or above in the US or Ministry of Education curriculum, a score of at least 5 in the IB curriculum, or a B-grade average for the British curriculum. Applicants must also successfully pass assessments and interviews conducted by the schools' evaluation committees.
Emirati families can submit their children's scholarship applications through the KHDA website. More details about the programme, eligibility criteria, and the application process are also available on the KHDA website.

Arabian Post Staff -Dubai Dubai and Abu Dhabi have emerged as epicentres of a pioneering surge in electric air taxi trials, with two leading US firms—Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation—making significant strides toward establishing urban air mobility networks in the Emirates. Both pilots mark landmark achievements in eVTOL technology, underscoring the UAE's ambition to lead the field by the mid-2020s. Joby Aviation achieved a milestone in Dubai by completing its first manned transition flights. The aircraft executed full vertical take‑off, horizontal cruising and vertical landing sequences, signalling readiness for commercial operations as early as 2026. With a range reaching 160 km and cruise speeds up to 320 km/h, these flights demonstrate capability to transform journeys such as those between Dubai International Airport and Palm Jumeirah—cutting travel time from 45 minutes by road to around 12 minutes by air. Joby's entry follows a six-year exclusivity agreement with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, aligned with infrastructure build-out including a vertiport at DXB. This move aligns with Dubai's strategic Education 33 and broader Dubai Economic Agenda D33, designed to enhance its status as a global education hub. The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad is renowned for its Business and Management programme, currently ranked 27th globally by the QS World University Rankings by subject. The American University of Beirut holds a position of 237th in the overall QS World University Rankings. Fakeeh College for Medical Sciences brings specialised strength in health and medical education to Dubai's portfolio. The strategy also aims to see international students making up 50 per cent of Dubai's higher education population by 2033, contributing an estimated AED 5.6 billion to the sector's GDP. Dubai's higher education ecosystem already includes 41 private international providers—37 of which are branch campuses—including the University of Manchester Dubai and University of Birmingham Dubai, whose home institutions rank 35th and 76th respectively in QS 2026. The emirate recorded a 20 per cent rise in total private university enrolment for 2024–25, with international students growing by 29 per cent to reach over 42,000 across more than 700 programmes. The initiative supports Dubai's ambition to position itself among the world's top ten cities for university education by 2033. Dubai International Academic City, the emirate's dedicated higher education zone, accommodates around 27,500 students across 27 colleges and three innovation centres, offering over 500 programmes. Many of the new branch campuses are expected to be located within DIAC or Dubai Knowledge Park, reinforcing the emirate's capacity for transnational education.
