WTC 2025-27 Points Table: Australia beat West Indies 3-0 to lead World Test Championship standings; England second after winning Lord's Test
The WTC 2023-25 finalists have a spotless record in this cycle until now. The Pat Cummins-led Australia have 36 points and 100 PCT (points percentage) after winning all three Tests against West Indies. Sitting second with 24 points and 66.67 PCT is Ben Stokes' England.
England beat India in the third Test by 22 runs at Lord's on Monday to get a crucial 2-1 lead in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This win also gave them 12 points, which pulled them up to second place. Sri Lanka remain on 66.67 PCT after winning the two-match Test series 1-0 against Bangladesh at home. Sri Lanka won one and drew one to gain 16 points from two matches.
With their second loss in three Tests, Shubman Gill-led India slipped to fourth place. India's PCT has also been reduced to 33.33 per cent as they fail to chase down a modest 193-run total at Lord's Test. Bangladesh find themselves in fifth place with four points and 16.67 PCT from two matches.
West Indies, who had their chances against Australia in all three Tests but squandered those to get a clean sweep in the home series 3-0, have yet to open their account in the WTC this cycle. West Indies' batting has disappointed the team a lot after their bowling, led by Shamar Joseph, Justin Greaves, Alzarri Joseph, and Jayden Seales stepped up.
New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa are yet to play any matches in this WTC cycle. Defending World Test Champion South Africa beat Zimbabwe 2-0 in the recently concluded Test match series, but since Zimbabwe is not part of the current WTC cycle, the series was not counted in for the standings.

Morkel hails 'natural leader' Siraj after Indian pacers fight back at The Oval on Day 4: 'He gives the team that spark'
India bowling coach Morne Morkel was all praise for senior pacer Mohammed Siraj, who struck twice during England's chase of the 3740run target at The Oval to move to the top of the wicket-takers' list for the series. read more India pacer Mohammed Siraj moved to the top of the wicket-takers' list for the ongoing series after dismissing England captain Ollie Pope on Day 4 of the fifth Test at The Oval. Reuters India bowling coach Morne Morkel heaped praise on Mohammed Siraj for his consistency in the tour of England, in which the senior pacer is set to finish as the leading wicket-taker at the end of the fifth and final Test at The Oval. Siraj had dismissed England opener Zak Crawley at the stroke of stumps on Saturday to leave England at 50/1 in their chase of 374, and trapped stand-in captain Ollie Pope LBW on Day 4 to collect his 20th wicket of the series, which took him past England's Josh Tongue to the top of the wicket-takers' list. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD South African pace legend Morkel heaped praise on Siraj after a , adding that the 30-year-old pacer from Hyderabad was finally getting the recognition that he deserves. 'Siraj has been outstanding. He's a natural leader - doesn't say much, but his actions drive the group. I'm really pleased he's getting the recognition. Whether it's an extra spell or lifting the crowd when things go flat, he gives the team that spark,' Morkel told reporters after stumps on the penultimate day. 'He just said, 'I want to play this match, I want to win it for the team.' That's the kind of attitude that wins Tests,' the 40-year-old further revealed on the topic of Siraj's workload in the five-Test series. Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the fifth Test as part of his workload management, is fourth on the wicket-takers' list with 14 scalps while Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna have collected 13 each, sitting at the fifth and sixth spots respectively. With India needing four wickets to pull off a series-leveling victory in London, Siraj is set to finish as the most successful bowler in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'Can't afford to throw in the towel' The penultimate day of the final Test witnessed one of the most dramatic days of cricket across the series, setting up a thrilling conclusion on the final day even if the match is likely to conclude before lunch on Monday. And Morkel, for one, felt that India could not afford to slip up heading into the final day of the series. 'The series had moments like that – up and down. We managed to break the partnership. Unfortunately, rain came in and we will come tomorrow. 'You can't afford to throw in the towel. Key was to break that partnership. Just create a bit of pressure,' Morkel added. Also Read | Brook and Root's zen-like batting, Indian pace fight back sets up fitting denouement to dramatic Test series India were firmly on top after Prasidh and Siraj dismissed Ben Duckett (54) and Ollie Pope (27) respectively, reducing England to 106/3. The in-form Harry Brook would then be handed a lifeline on 19 after a thick top-edge off a short ball from Prasidh carried the ball to long leg, where Siraj would collect the catch – only to step on the boundary cushion with his back foot, resulting in agony from joy for the bowler in a couple of seconds. Brook and Root would then go on to bring up their centuries and forge a mammoth 195-run stand that took England to 301/3, at which point the hosts appeared set for another successful 370-plus chase against India. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Indian pacers, however, refused to give up. Brook was eventually caught by Siraj off Akash's bowling shortly before tea while Prasidh struck twice shortly after tea, dismissing Jacob Bethell and Root in successive overs, leaving India needing four – or three, if an injured Chris Woakes fails to bat – wickets to win. England were 339/6 in 76.2 overs when bad light followed by a spell of heavy rain ensured all five matches in the Test series went into the final day.

5th Test: Rain Brings Early End To Riveting Day Four, Sets Stage For Thrilling Finish
Bad light and subsequent rain forced an early end to play on Day Four of the fifth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval on Sunday. With the stage set for a thrilling day five, England need 35 more runs to win, while India requires four wickets for a miraculous victory. Rain forcing the match to go into the fifth day means every Test of the ongoing riveting five-match series has now gone into the last day. England looked all set to complete the chase of 374 on day four, thanks to Joe Root hitting his 39th Test century off 137 balls, and paid a fitting tribute to Graham Thorpe. While Root eventually made 105 off 152 balls, Harry Brook hit a stunning 111 off 98 balls – his tenth hundred in the longer format and was given a reprieve on 19 by Mohammed Siraj. Just when it felt that victory was inevitable for England, Root and Jacob Bethell fell to Prasidh Krishna as overcast conditions meant India found seam movement and made life difficult for Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton – unbeaten on two and zero respectively. Before India could bring more twists to the game, the rain gods intervened and brought a premature end to the day's play. With Chris Woakes, with his left arm in a sling, pacing up and down in the dressing room in his Test whites, another fascinating day five finish looms large to decide the scoreline of this closely-fought Test series. The final session began with a slight delay due to rain. But once it went away, Root brought up his 39th Test century off 137 balls. From the other end, Jacob Bethell struggled for fluency despite advancing to drive Akash Deep past cover for four, and his stay ended when he went for a big heave, but bottom-edged to his stumps off Prasidh Krishna. Suddenly, things began to grow tighter as Prasidh had Jamie Smith inside-edging to his pads, before beating him on the outside edge. From the other end, Siraj hit Smith and Root on pads with his nip-backers, before India burnt a review when Prasidh hit Root on pads. But India found some hope as Prasidh struck again by having Root edge behind to Dhruv Jurel, who dived to his right to take a good low catch and dismiss the batter for 105. With Smith and Jamie Overton struggling to find gaps, India were well on top before bad light and then heavy rain forced players to go off the field and push the series decider to day five.

‘Mohammed Siraj was the first guy to say, ‘I want to play this Test match, want to win it for the team': Bowling coach Morne Morkel praises pacer's attitude
India's bowling coach Morne Morkel has singled out Mohammed Siraj's attitude for the success the pacer has enjoyed in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Siraj, who is the leading wicket-taker in the series with 20, came up with another inspired performance on Day 4, when England were threatening to seal the series. His ability to relentlessly keep up the intensity was there to see again at the Oval, where the series is now headed for a fitting climax on Day 5. Speaking at the close of play, Morkel was all praise for Siraj. 'I said it earlier in the Test series, I'm very happy for Siraj that he's getting the recognition. He's a guy in that changing room who will lead the way, he's a natural leader. Although vocally he doesn't speak a lot, I think he leads a lot with his actions. In this series, he's done it with the ball at times when we've needed somebody to put his hand up and create something. Even if it was bowling an extra two to three overs or creating an opportunity for us, he's been that guy. He's put in the effort, and it's just nice to see the rewards and today again at the back end, stepping up, getting the support behind the team to lift us in the crucial moments, it's those sort of smart plays that you need, and for me, Siraj has just been outstanding,' Morkel said. While Prasidh Krishna walked away with the wickets of Ben Duckett and centurion Joe Root to inject life into the game, Siraj had played a role in both the dismissals with his spell at the other end. After dismissing Zak Crawley off the last ball of the previous evening, he removed Ollie Pope to give an opening. And in the final session, was constantly in the ears of Prasidh and Akash Deep. Despite sending down more overs than anyone in the series, Siraj still delivered long spells with the old ball before bad light and rain brought an end to the proceedings on Day 4, with India needing four wickets and England 35 runs. Mohammed Siraj lands a killer blow 💥 He sends the set English captain back to the pavilion 👋#SonySportsNetwork #ENGvIND #NayaIndia #DhaakadIndia #TeamIndia #ExtraaaInnings | @mdsirajofficial — Sony Sports Network (@SonySportsNetwk) August 3, 2025 In a series where India have been able to play Jasprit Bumrah in only three Tests, Siraj has taken the lead mantle whenever his senior pro isn't available. It was evident at the Oval as well. 'I think he just enjoys that opportunity when it's given to him and he said it yesterday, he just loves playing for India and putting the shirt on and performing. That's what you want from a fast bowler — an important series, five Tests, a guy that's always willing to take the ball and a guy who's always putting his hand up to say, 'listen, I want to do it for the team'.' Morkel said. While India have been rotating the rest of the pace pack, Siraj has been an exception to this. Morkel, though, did admit that before the Oval Test, he had conversations with the 31-year-old about where he stood physically. 'Even before the start of the Test, there was conversations with him just to check in how he was feeling mentally and how he was feeling physically because of the amount of overs. But he was the first guy to say, 'listen, I want to play this Test match, I want to win it for the team'. So not just the bowling front but it's the attitude for me that is great and, you've got a guy with an attitude like that, he's willing to run in all day, I'm not surprised, that's why he's got the numbers,' Morkel said. Siraj, the only pacer across both sides to play all 5 matches, has now bowled 181.2 overs (1088 deliveries), the most in the series – two more than Chris Woakes.
