An escaped pet lion chased a woman and two children down a busy street in Pakistan's Lahore, police said on Friday, with dramatic footage showing the big cat leaping a wall before pouncing on them. Advertisement CCTV footage released by the police showed the lion jumping the barrier around its home and pursuing a woman carrying her shopping on Thursday night. The lion jumped on her back, knocking her to the ground, the footage showed. A police report quoted the father as saying the lion then turned to his five-year-old and seven-year-old children, and clawed their arms and faces. All three were taken to hospital but were not in a critical condition. Hong Kong police arrest woman, 21, in connection with HK$3.7 million fake official scams
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested in Hong Kong over her suspected involvement in eight phone scams impersonating officials, which resulted in losses of HK$3.7 million (US$471,343). The force said on Friday that the woman was apprehended in Ngau Tau Kok two days ago on suspicion of obtaining property by deception after a fake police warrant card was found in her possession. She is currently being held for questioning. According to police, the suspect was believed to have been involved in eight scam cases in June by posing as officials. Victims, aged between 24 and 42, suffered losses ranging from HK$320,000 to more than HK$2.8 million – HK$3.7 million in total. 'After searching her residence, police discovered seven confidentiality agreements ... Investigations suggest the arrested woman might have been lured into preparing these confidentiality agreements and handling illicit funds for the scam syndicate in exchange for payment,' the force said. It also said that it had been closely monitoring scams, in which fraudsters pose as officials.

Mexican ex-world champion boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr arrested by US immigration
Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr has been arrested by US immigration officers and faces deportation from the United States, the US Department of Homeland Security said Thursday. Chavez, a former world champion and the son of legendary Mexican fighter Julio Cesar Chavez, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Los Angeles on Wednesday after authorities determined that he was in the country illegally, Homeland Security said in a statement. Homeland Security, which oversees ICE, said the 39-year-old fighter has 'an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organised crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition and explosives'. The Mexican public prosecutor's office said in a statement later on Thursday that Mexico had issued an arrest warrant for Chavez in 2023 'for organised crime and arms trafficking'. US authorities informed Mexico that they have begun the procedure to send him home, it added. Homeland Security said Chavez is believed to have ties to the Sinaloa cartel, one of six Mexican drug trafficking groups designated as terrorist organisations by the United States.
