Yankees fan claims he was hit by falling piece of concrete at Dodger Stadium: report
The Athletic first reported the incident on Saturday.
Ricardo Aquino of Mexico City was watching his favorite team lead during a rematch of Game 5 of the 2024 World Series when he was suddenly struck in the back with what appeared to be a piece of debris from above.
"He's in some pain, but all it was, was the hit. He's not bleeding, but he's in some pain," Alvaro Baeza told The Athletic, translating the outlet's interview with Aquino.
According to the report, Aquino was sitting in section 10 – an area between home plate and first base. The piece of concrete fell on him during the third inning.
The Athletic's Brendan Kuty shared photos on X showing the size of the debris that reportedly hit Aquino and the area of the stadium from where he claims it fell.
Witnesses sitting around Aquino corroborated his account to the outlet.
"We're spending a lot of money up here," one person said. "We should at least be safe."
The Dodgers did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment, but told The Athletic in a statement, "We are aware of the report. We cannot say anything more until we have all of the information, which we are currently gathering."
The Dodgers host the Yankees again on Saturday night at 7:15 p.m.

Lagway among college football's top-tier QBs, per The Athletic
Expectations are high for Florida quarterback DJ Lagway as he enters his sophomore season, but could the Gators really have one of the best signal callers in all of college football? The Athletic's Grace Raynor may have answered that question while seeking clarification on her greater concern, whether the SEC features the best quarterbacks in the sport or not. A tier list of the nation's quarterbacks released earlier in the month prompted Raynor's deep dive. The SEC has five Tier 1 quarterbacks, more than double the number of those in the ACC and Big 12 conferences. An ACC quarterback, Clemson's Cade Klubnik, tops the list, but four SEC quarterbacks follow, finishing with Lagway at No. 5. Arch Manning is separated from the rest of the pack at No. 10, but he's still considered a Tier 1 quarterback. It's a blowout win for the SEC, but everyone has to live up to those expectations. Raynor poses the question: "Can 5-star recruits turn potential into reality?" Two of the highest-profile names at the position haven't played all that much. Lagway started just seven games last year, and Manning is finally set to take over the Texas offense after spending two years as Quinn Ewers' backup. If both live up to the hype, they could battle for a Heisman at some point. "Lagway, who flashed immense potential in an inconsistent debut season, may have coach Billy Napier's fate in his hands," she adds. The other Tier 1 quarterbacks on The Athletic's list are already proven. Arkansas and LSU are returning Heisman-caliber starters in Garret Nussmeier and LaNorris Sellers, respectively. Oklahoma picked up John Mateer, who wowed everyone at Washington State as a dual threat. "(Lagway) started the second half of the season, and though he made his share of freshman mistakes, he showed why he was so highly regarded, capping the year with a 300-yard performance and bowl game MVP honors," reads the tier list report from Sam Khan Jr. and Antonio Morales. "He displayed elite arm talent, good mobility and poise beyond that of a typical true freshman. His size and strength helped him keep plays alive. With Lagway behind center, the future is bright in Gainesville." Yes, Lagway is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the game, but there's an asterisk next to that distinction that the Nussmeier and Sellers types don't have. A lower-body injury could slow his start, and public opinion moves fast. A lot is riding on Lagway's performance this year, but most seem to believe that he'll live up to the task. Canada Names National Development Team Roster For Summer Series
For the second straight summer, Hockey Canada will lean on youth at the August 13-16 Summer Series against USA with their national development team roster. Canada named a 23-player roster for the three-game series against USA's Collegiate Select roster including 12 members of their national development team roster from last season that won silver at the 2024 Women's Euro Hockey Tour's Six Nations tournament. 'We are excited to return to the international stage with a strong group of athletes who bring both experience and fresh energy to our development team,' said national development team head coach Alison Domenico. 'It is an honour to be back behind the bench, and our staff is eager to continue guiding our talented athletes as they take the next steps in their growth within our program.' Among the returnees to their roster are captain Jocelyn Amos, Tova Henderson, Jordan Baxter, Avi Adam, Claire Murdoch, Hailey MacLeod, Ava Murphy, Ashley Messier, Emma Pais, Madeline Palumbo, Sarah Paul, Sara Swiderski, and Emma Venusio. Adding to their national team experience are a large group of U-18 national team players including Mackenze Alexander, Eloise Caron, Hannah Clark, Piper Grober, Makayla Watson, and Alyssa Regalado, who all played in the NCAA last season. Canada also named five players who will make their NCAA debuts this season including goaltender Rhyah Stewart, and forwards Maxine Cimeroni, Sienna D'Alessandro, Sara Manness, and Stryker Zablocki. Gleyber Torres: Detroit Tigers trade for Eugenio Suárez would be 'really, really good'
Detroit Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres wants to be teammates with Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suárez for the remainder of the 2025 season. It could happen within a couple of days. The Tigers are one of many teams interested in acquiring Suárez from the Diamondbacks before the MLB trade deadline, set for 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31. Other teams in the mix include the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies and Seattle Mariners. "If he comes here at some point, it's going to be awesome," said Torres, a former teammates of Suárez with Team Venezuela in the World Baseball Classic. "He treats people the right way. He's easy to talk to. He always wants to help the players. It would be a really, really good addition for us." LET'S MAKE A DEAL: Eugenio Suárez trade rumors: What Tigers could give up to get him from Diamondbacks Suárez, a 12-year MLB veteran, is hitting .248 with 36 home runs, an MLB-leading 87 RBIs, 29 walks (6.7% walk rate) and 116 strikeouts (26.8% strikeout rate) across 105 games. He becomes a free agent after the 2025 season, just like Torres. In December 2024, Torres signed a one-year, $15 million contract with the Tigers. Meanwhile, Suárez is completing an eight-year, $79 million contract extension that he signed in March 2018. "I think he's a better person than player," said Torres, an eight-year MLB veteran. "I have a really good relationship with him. He is a humble guy, an awesome person. I've known him for many years. Our relationship is really good." Suárez has said he wants to play for the Tigers. The Tigers signed Suárez out of Venezuela for a $10,000 bonus during the 2008 international signing period. He made his MLB debut with the Tigers in 2014. After 85 games, the Tigers traded Suárez to the Reds. "To finish where everything started, it would be cool," Suárez said in mid-July at the All-Star Game. "It would mean a lot to me." The Tigers have a 62-46 record to control a nine-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the American League Central — trailing only the Toronto Blue Jays by 1½ games for the AL's best record. Inside the clubhouse, the players are focused on helping lead the franchise to its first World Series win since 1984. "Whatever good players come into our team to help and bring us to the postseason and a championship, I think it's the best deal," Torres said.
