Vipin Raghuvanshi, brother of Raja Raghuvanshi, reached Indore Crime Branch police station as called by the Shillong SIT for questioning in connection with the case on Monday.
After that he spoke to ANI and highlighted his appeal in relation to the probe of the case, noting that the motive of the murder was yet to be known.
"I will apply for the Narco examination of the accused and I will appeal to the High Court (Meghalaya) for the same because the motive of the crime is yet to be known as to why Raja was murdered. Therefore, I will appeal before the High Court for a Narco test. Today, Shillong police called me for interrogation regarding the offerings (jewellery and ornaments) which we made during the wedding of Raja and Sonam. I have submitted all the photos of the jewellery which we offered," Raghuvanshi told ANI.
"I have told them that Sonam took all the jewellery with her from here. I have no idea about how much jewellery they (police) have received. I have no information in relation to whether all the ornaments were found or not. They have not shown me anything that they found although I have sent all the photos which we offered. Now, they will match what they found or not so far," he added.
He further emphasised that he was satisfied by the investigation of the Shillong police and there was not any doubt in their probe or working.
So far, 8 accused have been arrested in connection with the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a newlywed who had gone to Meghalaya on his honeymoon.
Those arrested include his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and four others: Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand.

UP: Sandalwood tree worth lakhs stolen from KGMU Vice-Chancellor's official residence in Lucknow

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 1 (ANI): A sandalwood tree worth lakhs of rupees was stolen from the official residence of the King George's Medical University (KGMU) Vice-Chancellor in Lucknow, despite security arrangements in place. KGMU spokesperson KK Singh said the 50-year-old tree was cut down and taken away by thieves. The residence, located within the campus, is currently unoccupied. An FIR has been lodged, and CCTV footage has been handed over to the police. The incident is also being investigated under the Forest Act. Speaking to ANI, KK Singh said, 'The Vice-Chancellor's residence is inside our campus, but he currently lives in his private house in Nirala Nagar. So, the campus house is vacant, though guards and basic staff stay there. A few days ago, we found out that a very old sandalwood tree at the residence was cut down, and the wood was stolen. It's shocking because the building is considered secure and has guards. We have collected CCTV footage and handed it over to the police. The tree was about 50 years old and worth lakhs. We've also informed the Forest Department, as sandalwood trees are protected under the Forest Act. We were told that this type of wood cannot be sold legally, and its value is set by the government.' Meanwhile, in a separate incident, one person who was accused of a robbery case worth Rs 1.5 crore was injured in an encounter with the police in Ghaziabad's Kavi Nagar, as per the information by Ghaziabad ACP Bhaskar Verma. The incident was reported from the intervening night of June 29 and 30, when, during a check at the Diamond Tiraha, the police monitored a four-wheeler approaching suspiciously towards them. While the police were trying to stop the car, it collided with a tree. The accused tried to flee from the incident spot and started firing at the police officials. However, in self-defence firing from the police officials, the accused got injured. (ANI)

"This kind of behaviour is not in line with BJP's ideology": Aparajita Sarangi condemns assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation official

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], July 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Monday condemned the assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, the Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). Sarangi said that such behaviour goes against the BJP's values and added that the law would take its own course. In a Facebook post, Sarangi wrote, 'We are proud of the ideology of Bharatiya Janata Party. This kind of behaviour is certainly not in line with the philosophy/ideology of the Party.' 'I condemn this behaviour towards a Government Officer on Duty. The Law will take its course,' the post further said. Meanwhile, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) also raised questions over the law and order situation in Odisha after reports that a group of people allegedly attacked the Additional Commissioner inside his office. The BJD alleged that the attack took place in the presence of BJP corporator Jeevan Raut and pointed to defeated BJP MLA candidate Jagannath Pradhan as the mastermind. In a post on X, the BJD wrote, 'The law and order situation in the state is in disarray, the double-engine government of Odisha is failing miserably. A group of 6/7 goon-like individuals entered the BMC office and brutally attacked the Additional Commissioner. This incident occurred in the presence of BJP corporator Jeevan Raut. It is alleged that the defeated BJP MLA candidate Jagannath Pradhan was behind this incident.' The BJD further criticised the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home Department portfolio, for the rise in what it described as 'goondaism and terror' in the state. 'This clearly shows that anarchy in the state has crossed all limits. Goondaism and terror have become daily occurrences. The Chief Minister, who keeps the Home Department under his control, should clarify why such a situation is arising in the state. Is entering a government office, dragging and brutally attacking a government official also an achievement of the BJP government?' the post reads. (ANI)
