"This kind of behaviour is not in line with BJP's ideology": Aparajita Sarangi condemns assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation official
Sarangi said that such behaviour goes against the BJP's values and added that the law would take its own course.
In a Facebook post, Sarangi wrote, 'We are proud of the ideology of Bharatiya Janata Party. This kind of behaviour is certainly not in line with the philosophy/ideology of the Party.'
'I condemn this behaviour towards a Government Officer on Duty. The Law will take its course,' the post further said.
Meanwhile, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) also raised questions over the law and order situation in Odisha after reports that a group of people allegedly attacked the Additional Commissioner inside his office.
The BJD alleged that the attack took place in the presence of BJP corporator Jeevan Raut and pointed to defeated BJP MLA candidate Jagannath Pradhan as the mastermind.
In a post on X, the BJD wrote, 'The law and order situation in the state is in disarray, the double-engine government of Odisha is failing miserably. A group of 6/7 goon-like individuals entered the BMC office and brutally attacked the Additional Commissioner. This incident occurred in the presence of BJP corporator Jeevan Raut. It is alleged that the defeated BJP MLA candidate Jagannath Pradhan was behind this incident.'

The BJD further criticised the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home Department portfolio, for the rise in what it described as 'goondaism and terror' in the state.
'This clearly shows that anarchy in the state has crossed all limits. Goondaism and terror have become daily occurrences. The Chief Minister, who keeps the Home Department under his control, should clarify why such a situation is arising in the state. Is entering a government office, dragging and brutally attacking a government official also an achievement of the BJP government?' the post reads. (ANI)

Tripura Chief Minister To Expand Cabinet Tomorrow: Report
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha would expand his council of ministers on July 3, sources said on Wednesday. Sources said that on the advice of the Chief Minister, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu would administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new minister at the Raj Bhavan. One probable name -- Kishore Barman -- is doing the rounds about the possible minister. BJP MLA Barman was elected in the 2023 Assembly polls from Nalchar constituency in Sepahijala district. As per the constitutional mandate, the size of the council of ministers is 12, including the Chief Minister. One ministerial berth has been lying vacant. The sources said that at least five BJP MLAs are the contenders for the ministerial berths. On March 8, 2023, the BJP and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) coalition government led by Saha came to power for the second consecutive term. The Tipra Motha Party (TMP), headed by former royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, contested the 2023 Assembly polls separately but in March last year, after signing a tripartite agreement with the Centre and the Tripura government, joined the BJP-IPFT coalition government, adding a new twist to Tripura politics. Accordingly, two TMP MLAs -- Animesh Debbarma and Brishaketu Debbarma -- were inducted into the ministry. The IPFT currently has one minister -- Sukla Charan Noatia -- in the 11-member council of the ministry. The BJP-IPFT alliance had retained power in Tripura by winning 33 seats in the 60-member Assembly. The TMP, which contested the Assembly elections in 2023 for the first time, won 13 seats of the 42 seats it contested, emerging as the second largest party after the BJP. The CPI-M won 11 seats in the elections while the Congress bagged three. The CPI-M-led Left Front and the Congress had a seat-sharing arrangement for the elections. The TMP became a political force in April 2021 after it wrested power in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. The politically important TTAADC has jurisdiction over two-thirds of Tripura's 10,491 sq km area, and is home to over 1,21,6000 people, of which around 84 per cent are tribals.

Speeding SUV crashes into house injuring residents
Lucknow: A speeding SUV, allegedly with a BJP block chief sticker and an Uttarakhand number plate, rammed into a house in Santguru Ravidas Nagar late Tuesday leaving two residents injured and triggering a political row. The vehicle ploughed through a shop front and boundary wall around 1:50 am, crashing into the living quarters of Vijay and his wife, Gyanmati. The couple's shop and household items were severely damaged while Vijay and their son, Deepak, suffered minor injuries. The vehicle also hit and injured one of its passengers, but the remaining three occupants, including a woman, fled the scene, said police. The incident took place under the Hazratganj police station limits. SHO Vikram Singh said an FIR was registered based on a written complaint from Gyanmati. The vehicle was seized, and legal action is underway under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 125(b) (causing damage), and 324(5) (causing hurt by dangerous means). "Four people, including the driver, have been booked," he added. Police also recovered liquor bottles and other intoxicants from the SUV. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was being driven recklessly at high speed. "There were three men and a woman inside the vehicle. All appeared intoxicated. One remained inside the vehicle with injuries while others managed to escape," a senior officer at the scene said. The Congress party accused the BJP of promoting a culture of impunity. "Beer bottles on the dashboard, drunk BJP men fleeing after wrecking a house—this is the true face of the ruling party," the UP Congress posted on X.

Jaishankar said India's diplomatic approach has largely maintained the same response to terror attacks abroad as it does for those on its own soil. 'In that respect honestly, we have been much more consistent and principled,' he added. Jaishankar emphasised the importance of pushing for a more unified global response to terrorism. 'Many of them are not doing it or not doing it sufficiently enough, and part of diplomacy is to exhort them, encourage them, persuade them, motivate them to do that,' he said. 'That is why it's important to speak up, and to carry them with us to the best possibility,' he added. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Jaishankar, referring to Operation Sindoor post Pakistan-backed Pahalagam terror attack, said India has sent an unambiguous message that it will not tolerate terrorism in any form. #WATCH | Washington, DC | EAM Dr S Jaishankar says, "...What we have communicated very clearly is we mean it when we say there is zero tolerance for you look back at the Prime Minister's address to the nation after the cessation of firing on the 10th of May, there… — ANI (@ANI) July 2, 2025 '…What we have communicated very clearly is we mean it when we say there is zero tolerance for terrorism…If you look back at the Prime Minister's address to the nation after the cessation of firing on the 10th of May, there were some very clear messages which came out of that…It's really for the terrorist groupings and for their sponsors to absorb and reflect on those messages,' said Jaishankar. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Rejecting the idea of publicly outlining India's next steps, Jaishankar said, 'I don't think we are going to spell out — if this happens, we will do that. No government does that.' Jaishankar said at the Quad foreign ministers' meeting he told his partners that India had the right to defend itself against terrorist activities and hold the perpetrators accountable. 'With each of my counterparts, I have shared with them the sense that the nature of the terrorists challenge, the fact that we have confronted it over multiple decades and that we are very resolved today to respond to it very firmly and we have the right to defend ourselves,' he said. #WATCH | Washington, DC | EAM Dr S Jaishankar says, "...With each of my counterparts, I have shared with them the sense that the nature of the terrorists challenge, the fact that we have confronted it over multiple decades and that we are very resolved today to respond to it very… — ANI (@ANI) July 2, 2025 STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'The perpetrators of terrorism must be held accountable, they must be brought to justice and that's important because we have to communicate to the world that what we did on 7th May, the objective of Operation Sindoor is that if there are terrorist attacks, we will act against the perpetrators, the supporters, the enablers. That message was conveyed with great clarity,' he added. Jaishankar further said the issue of US President Donald Trump brokering the ceasefire between India and Pakistan did not come up at the meeting, although he maintained that a truce was decided in the meeting between the DGMOs of two countries. When you have a broadband set of people who speak with one voice abroad, it conveys a strong message of national unity. It underlines a certain seriousness about responding to terrorism… You saw the political pluralism of India come together on an important issue and send a strong unified message and I think that was something really great and it's something which quite apart from being a minister, honestly, as a person, as an Indian citizen, I applaud that,' said the external affairs minister. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD India launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India struck several terror hideouts and eliminated more than 100 terrorists. Earlier today, the foreign ministers of all Quad countries unequivocally condemned the April 22's ghastly terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. 'We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and extend our heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery to all those injured. We call for the perpetrators, organisers, and financiers of this reprehensible act to be brought to justice without any delay and urge all UN member States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant UNSCRs, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard,' the statement said.
