Tech jobs lead salary charts: Freshers get up to Rs 28,600 per month; Hyderabad, Chennai emerge new pay hotspots

The high compensation is being driven largely by strong demand for digital and AI-linked roles.
Manufacturing and telecom are also seeing robust salary expansion. Entry-level pay in these sectors ranges from Rs 28,100 to Rs 28,300, while those with five to eight years' experience earn between Rs 67,700 and Rs 68,200, the survey showed, ET reported.
The report, based on responses from 1,311 employers and 2,531 employees, found that monthly salaries for entry-level jobs across roles like software development and HR engineering typically fall in the Rs 25,000–Rs 30,500 range.
Product and project management roles offer the highest average pay, with those in the 5–8 year experience bracket taking home up to Rs 85,500 per month. Notably, UI/UX designers are closing the gap with software developers in terms of compensation, with senior-level designers earning up to Rs 65,000 a month.
Smaller cities offer better value
Indeed's city-wise analysis suggests a shift in India's compensation geography, with Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad emerging as new hotspots for salary growth—outpacing India's average annual increase of 15%.
These Tier-2 cities are now offering competitive pay while also delivering better cost-of-living value.
'Salary dynamics are shifting, and employees are increasingly prioritising cities where compensation aligns with both cost of living and career potential,' said Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India. 'Our data shows that growth is no longer confined to just the biggest metros, opportunity is becoming more distributed.'

Despite rising pay levels, affordability remains a concern for many. The survey found that 69% of employees feel their income isn't keeping pace with their city's cost of living. This sentiment was particularly strong in expensive metros like Delhi (96%), Mumbai (95%), Pune (94%), and Bengaluru (93%).
By contrast, cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata were perceived to offer a better earnings-to-expense balance, making them attractive for career moves.

However, tracking payments to intermediaries could unlock vital leads. 'If we go after the digital enablers, piracy can be stopped at its source,' Raj Kumar said. Legal pushback begins In a proactive legal move, a production house recently approached the Hyderabad commercial court ahead of a film's release on June 2, seeking to restrain rogue websites from uploading pirated versions. The court issued an interim order, barring all respondents from hosting, streaming, or communicating the film until July 25. The next hearing is scheduled for the same date. 'The public must also do its part. Watching pirated films may seem harmless, but it directly hurts the industry,' said KL Damodar Prasad, secretary, TFCC. Second-hand car prices in Delhi drop due to restrictions on end-of-life vehicles, says trade body
Prices of second-hand cars in the national capital have witnessed a sharp fall in recent days, with traders reporting a decline of 40 to 50 per cent, the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) said on Friday. CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal said the market for overage vehicles in Delhi has been severely affected, with nearly 60 lakh vehicles impacted by the sudden downturn. He attributed the price crash to restrictions related to End-of-Life (EOL) vehicles, which have crossed the permissible age limit for operation in Delhi. Goyal, who is also an automobile businessman, claimed that traders are being forced to sell cars at significantly lower prices. "In the last five days, the prices of second-hand cars have dropped by 40 to 50 per cent. Businessmen in Delhi are now compelled to sell vehicles at one-fourth of their original price," he said. He said that second-hand cars from Delhi are usually sold in Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. However, the demand from outside states is now accompanied by aggressive bargaining. "Luxury used cars that earlier fetched Rs six to seven lakh are now being sold for barely Rs four to five lakh. Buyers from other states are aware of the challenges faced by Delhi-based traders and are negotiating accordingly," Goyal said. He further added that over 1,000 traders in areas like Karol Bagh, Preet Vihar, Pitampura, and Moti Nagar are involved in the business of selling second-hand vehicles. Car dealers have also raised concerns over difficulties in obtaining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Transport Department, which is required to sell used vehicles in other states. Earlier, the process was relatively smooth, but now traders say they are facing delays and complications. The Delhi government had banned fuel for end-of-life vehicles -- 10 years or older for diesel vehicles and 15 years or older for petrol vehicles -- that are deregistered and not allowed to ply on the roads from July 1, following a court order. However, on Thursday, the government requested the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to put the ban on hold with immediate effect, arguing that the fuel ban on overage vehicles is not feasible due to technological challenges.

Uttarakhand tops NITI Aayog's Sustainable Development Goals index 2023-24: CM Dhami
Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], July 5 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday said that the state has secured the first position in the country in the 2023-24 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) index released by NITI Aayog. Addressing a public gathering in Haridwar, CM Dhami said, 'I am pleased to inform you that, in the 2023-24 index of the Government of India's NITI Aayog, Uttarakhand has ranked first in the entire country in achieving the goals of sustainable development.' Highlighting the state's progress, Dhami credited the achievement to Uttarakhand's balanced growth approach; he said, 'It's because both the speed and direction of our growth are moving forward in a balanced manner. Along with this, we have also surpassed the national average by reducing the unemployment rate by 4.4%...' During the 'Vikas Sankalp Parv' event held in Haridwar, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 107 projects, which are expected to cost around Rs 550 crore, a release said. CM also visited the stalls set up by various departments on this occasion and was overwhelmed by the immense love and affection received from people in the programme. Chief Minister further said, 'Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is moving on the path of progress with clear policy, determination and public welfare decisions. Dhami informed that, considering the seriousness of the issue, Amit Shah has assured that the Centre's emergency relief agencies, the NDRF and ITBP, are being deployed promptly to ensure that the Char Dham Yatra is not disrupted and that devotees face no inconvenience during their travel.
