From Business Visa To Gokarna Cave: How Russian Woman And Her Children Ended Up Rescued
A Russian woman and her two daughters were rescued from a cave on Gokarna Hill in Karnataka. The intriguing journey of Nina Kutin, a Russian woman, and her two young daughters led them from a business visa in India to an unexpected residence in a cave on Gokarna Hill, from which police recently rescued them. The family is believed to have been living in the natural shelter near Ramatirtha for four to five days before their discovery by patrolling officers. Kutin's initial arrival in India was in October 2016 on a business visa, during which she worked for a private company in Goa until April 2017. Despite her visa expiring, she did not return to Russia, opting instead to travel to Nepal before making her way back to Goa, where she had resided for the past year. Approximately a week ago, Kutin arrived in Gokarna with her children. Drawn by the area's natural beauty and having previously noted the cave's location, she chose to make it their home. The Gokarna Police, led by Inspector Sridhar, discovered the family during routine patrols and, noting the dangerous conditions, including a recent landslide in the area, promptly rescued them. Following their rescue, the Russian national and her children were initially provided shelter at a local NGO in Karwar. They are now at a women's care center and are slated for transfer to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Bengaluru on Monday for further immigration procedures. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Viral Video Shows Leopard Standing Upright While Hunting, Leaves Netizens Amazed
Last Updated: The video shows the leopard standing on two legs, like humans, while hunting an impala. A video of a leopard standing on its hind legs is going viral online. The short clip, filmed in Kruger National Park, South Africa, has left the internet amazed. Shared by Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan, the footage shows the leopard standing upright on two legs—a rare and unusual posture for big cats—as it appears to be looking for potential prey in the tall grass. 'That leopard is looking at his food by standing on two legs. Leopards are one of the most versatile creatures on Earth. From Kruger," Kaswan wrote while sharing the video. The video was also shared on the Facebook page 'Latest Sightings – Kruger'. According to the Facebook post, the leopard was hunting an impala when it was caught on camera. 'While this leopard was ambushing some impala, it suddenly sat up on its hind legs to get a better view. Then, making the scene even more unusual, it stood entirely upright on its back legs, exactly like a human, for an even better view! It looked so comfortable doing this that it must do this all the time," the post read. The viral video also sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with netizens both amazed by the leopard's behaviour and sharing humorous takes on its unusual stance. 'Don't be surprised if they stand and walk like humans after 5,000 more years," one social media user jokingly said. 'Preserve and create an environment for animals to co-exist with humans. Neither should interfere in each other's matters, as humanely as possible," wrote another. view comments First Published: July 13, 2025, 10:10 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
