JI allowed to stage ‘Balochistan March' protest outside LPC
A key outcome of the talks was the decision to initiate formal negotiations between a high-powered federal government committee and JI Balochistan Chief Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman over the demands of the march.
The announcement was made at a joint press conference addressed by JI Naib Ameer Liaqat Baloch and Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb.
They were joined by JI Secretary General Ameerul Azeem, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Punjab Ministers Salman Rafique and Sohail Bhatti, JI Punjab Central Emir Javed Kasuri, and Lahore Emir Ziauddin Ansari.
Liaqat Baloch stated that JI and the people of Punjab stand in solidarity with the people of Balochistan and would not compromise on their constitutional rights. He called for a political solution to national issues and a comprehensive national dialogue.
Maryam Aurangzeb announced that the federal dialogue committee will comprise ministers Mohsin Naqvi, Jam Kamal, Atta Tarar, PM's Adviser Rana Sanaullah, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, the Federal Interior Secretary, and the Special Secretary.
The committee will engage in direct talks with a delegation led by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman in Islamabad with the Punjab government acting as a facilitator.
She expressed Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif's support for the legitimate demands of the Baloch people and thanked JI leadership including Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Liaqat Baloch, Ameerul Azeem, and Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman for their cooperation.
Aurangzeb also apologized for the difficulties faced by marchers upon entering Punjab and assured dignified treatment for all participants.
Hidayat-ur-Rehman outlined the key demands of the march, which include peace in Balochistan, fair access to provincial resources, legalization of cross-border trade, an end to harassment in the name of security, and the release of Dr Mahrang Baloch and other detainees. He expressed optimism that the federal government would respond positively to these democratic and constitutional demands.
JI Secretary General Ameerul Azeem reaffirmed the party's unwavering support for the people of Balochistan and emphasized that granting their rights is essential for lasting peace.

Govt creating visa hurdles to IK's sons: PTI
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday accused the government of deliberately obstructing the visa process for former prime minister Imran Khan's sons, who intend to travel to Pakistan to visit their father, currently imprisoned. Talking to journalists, PTI spokesman Sheikh Waqas Akram said the sons of Imran Khan — Suleman and Kasim — are Pakistani nationals holding National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs), and should be legally allowed to enter the country. The party alleged that the authorities have not responded to the visa applications submitted to the Pakistan High Commission in London. Akram said both applications had been filed and assigned tracking numbers, but claimed that officials cited the need for clearance from Islamabad and the Ministry of Interior, followed by a lack of response. 'IK's sons submit visa applications' 'The Ministry of Interior has stated that visa issuance falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ambassador,' he said, adding that this contradicted official statements that no applications had been received. PTI also released NICOP details for both sons. Kasim's NICOP expired in 2021 and is currently under renewal, while Suleman's document remains valid until 2030. The party called on the government to facilitate their entry rather than delay it, describing the obstruction as politically motivated. Separately, PTI condemned what it described as a crackdown on party members and the closure of motorways ahead of its planned nationwide protest on August 5. The Punjab government said the restrictions were related to the visit of the Iranian president. PTI has called for mass demonstrations to demand judicial independence, media freedom, and the release of its leader. IK's son says only Trump can make a difference
LONDON: Kasim Khan, the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has said that US President Donald Trump is the only world leader who can make a difference in his father's case and help secure his release. Kasim Khan and his brother Suleman Khan gave an exclusive interview to British journalist Piers Morgan. During the interview, Kasim Khan stated that he had also met Trump's close aide Richard Grenell, who has been active on social media for Imran Khan's release, to discuss cases against his father. It may be recalled that 26-year-old Kasim and 28-year-old Sulaiman publicly spoke out for the first time against their father's imprisonment in May this year. Responding to questions, Kasim Khan said, 'We know that our father and President Trump had a cordial relationship in the past. When both were in power, they had great conversations and both respected each other.' He further said that if Trump issues a statement or contacts the Pakistani establishment at some level, it could play a significant role in Imran Khan's release. Kasim Khan said it has been three years since he last met his father, adding he has not spoken to him for the past four months.
