WI vs AUS: Australia will aim to wrap up the three-match series when they face West Indies in the second Test starting Thursday, July 3, at the National Cricket Stadium in Grenada. The visitors are riding high after a stunning comeback win in the first Test in Barbados.
Aussies Stage Comeback in Series Opener
In the first Test, Australia found themselves on the back foot after being dismissed for just 180 in the first innings. However, the bowlers responded strongly, limiting the West Indies to 190. Travis Head then anchored the second innings with a composed half-century, helping Australia set a challenging target of 301 runs. The West Indies, led by Roston Chase, faltered under pressure. Their batting collapsed dramatically, losing all 10 wickets in just 34 overs for 141 runs. Josh Hazlewood was the standout bowler, picking up seven wickets across both innings, including a five-wicket haul in the second.
Steve Smith Returns to Boost Australia
Australia will be strengthened by the return of veteran batter Steve Smith, who missed the opening Test due to a finger injury sustained during the World Test Championship final. Smith will replace Josh Inglis in the playing XI and is expected to provide stability to the batting order in what are expected to be testing conditions.

Jamie Smith Breaks Kapil Dev's Record Of Fastest Century In India-England Tests

Last Updated: After coming out to bat at No. 7 for England in the first innings of the 2nd Test, Jamie Smith completed his century in 80 balls. Wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith entered his name in the history books on Friday (July 4) by scoring the fastest century in a Test match played between India and England. After coming out to bat at No. 7 for England in the first session of the third day's play of the ongoing second Test at Edgbaston, Smith smacked Indian bowlers to all corners of the ground and completed his maiden Test century against India in just 80 balls. He crossed the 100-run mark by hammering Ravindra Jadeja for a four on the third ball of the 47th over of England's first innings. Before Smith, the record of scoring the fastest Test century in the India-England Test was held by Kapil Dev. Kapil completed his century in just 86 balls against England at Green Park Stadium in 1982. The previous record of scoring the fastest Test century by an English batter against India was in the name of Ben Duckett. Duckett completed his century in 88 balls against India at Nirajan Shah Stadium in Rajkot last year. Fastest century in Tests for England against India The overall record of scoring the fastest century in Test cricket against Team India is in the name of former Australian opener David Warner. Warner needed just 69 balls to complete his century against India during the Test match played at WACA in Perth from January 13 to 15 in 2012. Warner is followed by AB de Villiers of South Africa, who crossed the 100-run mark in 75 balls during the December 2010 Test played at SuperSport Park in Centurion. Pakistan's Shahid Afridi completed his century in 78 balls against India at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in January 2006. Fastest century in Tests vs India Smith's 80-ball century against India in Birmingham on Friday is the joint third-fastest by an English batter in the five-day format of the game. The overall record for scoring the fastest century in Test cricket is in the name of former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum. In the first innings of his farewell Test, which was played against Australia in Christchurch in February 2016, McCullum completed his century in just 54 balls. Ishan Kishan Takes Off Gloves, Bowls Off-Spin And Leg-Spin For County Team In Same Over

Out-of-sorts Indian wicket-keeper batter, Ishan Kishan, was surprisingly seen bowling for his County side, Nottinghamshire. In the same over, Ishan bowled both off-spin and leg-spin, with some of the deliveries looking extremely ordinary. Ishan, who is a character that likes to enjoy himself, be it while wicket-keeping, batting, or fielding, had a smile on his face while he was bowling. Some of his deliveries, however, also left the commentators struggling to control their laughter. Ishan started the over by bowling off-spin, but later shifted to leg-spin. Ishan Kishan bowling in County Cricket #IshanKishan — Ayush (@AyushCricket32) July 2, 2025 Fair to say that Kishan's off-spin bowling was far more under control than leg-spin. Ishan was roped in by Nottinghamshire as Kyle Verreynne 's replacement while the World Test Championship-winning South African is away playing a two-Test series in Zimbabwe. He will be eligible for selection for the upcoming Championship fixtures against Yorkshire at Trent Bridge and Somerset in Taunton. "I'm feeling very excited to get my first taste of playing county cricket in England, and it will be a great chance to showcase my skills. I want to make sure I am the best cricketer I can be, and playing in English conditions will really help me to learn new skills. "Trent Bridge is such a famous ground that is well-known in India and around the world, and I am really excited that I will be playing there," said Kishan. At present, Ishan isn't in the scheme of things as far as Test cricket is concerned. The wicket-keeper batter hasn't played for India in any format since November 2023.

Mohammed Siraj Becomes 1st Bowler In The World To...

Last Updated: Stokes came out to bat at No. 6 for England in the first innings of the ongoing 2nd India Test at Edgbaston but failed to open his account. Ben Stokes came out to bat at No. 6 for England in the first innings of the ongoing second Test against India at Edgbaston but failed to score any runs. He, in fact, was sent back to the pavilion by Mohammed Siraj on the first ball he faced. The golden duck on Friday (July 4) was Stokes' first first-ball dismissal in Test cricket. Since making his Test debut for the English team against Australia at Adelaide Oval on December 5, 2013, Stokes has failed to open his account 16 times in 202 innings of 113 Tests, but Friday was the first time he got out for a first-ball duck in Tests. Siraj, who is leading India's bowling attack in the Birmingham Test in the absence of world No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah, dismissed Joe Root for 22 runs on the third ball of the 22nd over of England's first innings and on the next ball removed Stokes. Both Root and Stokes were caught behind by Rishabh Pant. England had high expectations from Root and Stokes on Friday, but both failed to make any significant contribution with the bat. In the first two days of the ongoing second Test, India's Test captain Shubman Gill made headlines for his super show with the bat. Gill, after coming out to bat at No. 4 for Wednesday (July 2), scored 269 runs from 387 balls. He hammered 30 fours and 3 sixes during his stay at the crease and helped India post a total of 587 runs in the first innings. The 269-run knock in the first innings helped Gill become the first Indian captain to score a double century in SENA countries, and he also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of the highest score by an Indian batter in SENA countries. During the 2004 Sydney Test between India and Australia, Tendulkar remained unbeaten on 241 runs in the first innings. During his 269-run knock, Gill also broke Virat Kohli's record of highest score (254 vs. South Africa in October 2019) by an Indian captain in Test cricket. For India, apart from Gill, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja impressed with their batting in the first innings. While Jaiswal scored 87 runs from 107 balls, Jadeja smacked 89 runs from 137 balls and added 203 runs for the sixth wicket with Gill.
