Patna: Union minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA govt in Bihar, expressing anguish over the deteriorating law and order situation and questioning the administration's ability to control crime.
"I feel sad that I am supporting such a govt where crime has gone unbridled. If action is not taken soon, the people of Bihar may have to face serious consequences," Chirag told reporters in Patna.
W
arning of worse to come, he said, "There has been a series of incidents of murder, rape and robbery. This is a very worrying situation. If the situation remains like this, a more horrific scenario may arise in the coming days."
"Some people say the crime incidents are taking place out of a political conspiracy in an election year to defame the state govt, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the govt and the administration to control it," the LJP (RV) leader said.
While acknowledging CM
Nitish Kumar
's past achievements, Chirag made it clear that silence in the face of ongoing crimes was not an option. "There is no doubt that CM Nitish Kumar brought Bihar back on track from jungle raj and improved law and order.

But being a part of the NDA and supporting the govt does not mean I keep my eyes shut to the incidents of crime," he said.
Chirag's sharp criticism came in the wake of the horrific rape of a woman home guard aspirant inside an ambulance in Gaya, an incident that has drawn widespread outrage and further fuelled concerns over policing. "Such incidents prove that the administration has completely failed," he said.
"It seems the police and administration have bowed down to the criminals.
Either the police have failed to stop crime or there is an attempt to cover everything up," he said.
Reacting to Chirag's remarks, JD(U) chief spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar said, "PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah have faith in CM Nitish Kumar. The people of Bihar have the same faith even today. The mind can be disturbed; there is no cure for it. But there is no doubt about the rule of law in Bihar. The public is at peace," Neeraj said.
Chirag's repeated attacks on the administration despite being a key NDA ally have raised eyebrows in political circles, especially with the state gearing up for the assembly elections.

Ministers getting ‘picture perfect'for their show of strength in UP

Lucknow: Senior ministers from the state these days have developed a penchant for showing their strength through pictures and videos of events and meetings. Most of these visuals are leaked as they are not sent through official channels. Whether the event is political or apolitical, the message of the show of strength is loud and clear. The latest such show of strength came from the minister of jail, Dara Singh Chauhan. The occasion was his birthday celebration at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan on Friday. The event, named 'Sankalp Diwas', was largely attended by members of Dara Singh's caste members – Nonia Chauhans. However, the chief guests for the event were the two deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with BJP UP chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary. It was purely the choice of Chauhan as to who would attend the event, but there were discussions around who all were not invited. The trio came together at the event and urged those present to "repeat 2017 results in 2027 Assembly polls". This line that caught the attention of political observers was also part of the caption of the photographs shared after the meeting of Keshav Maurya with Union home minister Amit Shah on July 8. Maurya's meeting with Shah was followed by his meeting with defence minister Rajnath Singh on July 9 and UP governor Anandiben Patel on July 11. After Maurya, pictures of Brajesh Pathak meeting Shah on July 17 also went viral. While Dara Singh Chauhan's event was a show of strength with politics of symbolism at its core, at least three different videos involving energy minister AK Sharma are being seen as his desperate bid not only to put his house (energy and urban development departments) in order but also send a message to officials and people in political circles of his proximity to New Delhi. Visibly fed up with people confronting him about the poor situation in the power department during his visits to various places, Sharma, in a leaked video, is seen going harsh on officials for being paper tigers rather than looking at the reality at ground level. In another video, he is seen warning officials. "While Lord Ram prayed for three days, I explained it for three years, but now, that time is over. If the officers think that the minister does not have the power to transfer or suspend, they should understand that if I use sudarshan chakra like Lord Krishna did, no one — from Delhi to Rashtrapati Bhavan — will be able to save you," Sharma warned the officials. A few days back, even former MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh made a visit to 5 Kalidas Marg, the official residence of CM Yogi Adityanath. His meeting with the CM was held after a gap of 31 months, he claimed. The next day, Keshav Maurya hosted Brij Bhushan's son Prateek Bhushan at his official 7 Kalidas Marg residence. More than the pictures and videos, their timing has intrigued political pundits. Senior journalist Ratan Mani Lal said that such posturing has begun as it's well-known that there would be changes in the organisation and the ministries, both in the Centre and the state. "Since these leaders have smelled the forthcoming changes, they are leaving no stone unturned to present their case before the senior leaders and the community they represent," he said.

Focus On Drugs-Free India, Ensure Better Coordination: Amit Shah To Agencies

Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Eighth National Security Strategies Conference (NSSC) in New Delhi, marking the conclusion of the two-day meet on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Paying tribute to those who were killed in action in that conflict, the home minister also saluted the efforts of the armed forces and the Border Security Force during Operation Sindoor, calling it a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. The home minister said Operation Sindoor had sent a strong and clear message to the world about India's uncompromising stand against terror. "PM Modi, with his strong political will, once again demonstrated India's firm stance and resolve on the issue of national security," he said. He pointed out that India's economy is in the fourth position globally and, with its emergence as a key player in new and emerging technologies, green energy, and innovation, the security challenges before the nation would also multiply in the years to come. 'Security, Alertness, Coordination' In view of the evolving threats, the home minister called for better coordination among central and state agencies. He directed the formation of homogenous teams to develop, implement, and monitor security strategies effectively. He also stressed the importance of involving young police officers in each state to brainstorm and offer innovative solutions to national challenges. Referring to the three new criminal laws that recently came into force, the minister said the same seriousness with which Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) and situations in the Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir were tackled must be shown in ensuring the effective implementation of these laws and in the fight against narcotics. He asked Directors General of Police across states to focus on the next three years as a mission period for a 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' (Drugs-Free India) and emphasised the need for going after drug cartels, securing the extradition of narco-offenders, and adopt a top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach in anti-narcotics efforts. Push For Real-Time Data Sharing Mr Shah called for establishing a reliable ecosystem for real-time data sharing and directed all agencies to integrate databases like NATGRID (National Intelligence Grid), NIDAAN (National Integrated Database on Arrested Narco Offenders), iMoT (Integrated Monitoring of Terrorism) and CBI's fugitive database into their day-to-day operations. He instructed that these tools be made a core part of all police training programmes to ensure better tech-driven enforcement on the ground. Highlighting the role of police stations as the first point of intelligence gathering, he called for a platform to enable real-time information sharing up to the station level. Maritime Security Mr Shah also stressed the need for all-round development in LWE-affected areas and urged police forces to coordinate with state administrations to ensure the timely implementation of over 300 central and state schemes at the grassroots level. On maritime security, the home minister flagged concerns over infiltration and smuggling along India's long coastal borders and emphasised the capacity building of state police forces to secure smaller seaports and prevent illegal activity. 'Excellence And Competition' Calling the internal security situation dynamic due to India's complex geopolitical neighbourhood, the home minister said the motto of " Suraksha, Sajagta, Samanvay" (Security, Alertness, Coordination) must become the guiding principle of all agencies. He urged the police leadership to strive for excellence, protect the life, property and dignity of every citizen, and nurture healthy competition in addressing internal security challenges. Mr Shah said the next five to ten years would be critical for India's security and development, and underlined that the Modi government has already resolved numerous issues scattered across states. He ended his address with a call for habitual alertness and a security-first mindset, saying these must now become an integral part of India's policing framework.
