All official work only in Hindi: Haryana Edu Min

Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda's directions to his department to conduct all official work and formal communications in Hindi have become a talking point in government circles. While Danda has issued these orders, the officials in his department are struggling to implement them. The problem is finding the right words in Hindi. This announcement follows a directive from the Directorate of Higher Education issued on June 10. 'Even I don't know English, and 90% of the people in Haryana don't understand it either. I have ordered all work in the education department to be done in Hindi,' the minister said recently.
Haryana engineer's dressing down over dress
He shorted the power supply over a pair of shorts and paid a price for it. Executive Engineer Harish Goel of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, posted in Yamunanagar, was denied entry to a popular club in Ambala Cantonment because he was wearing shorts. The club's rules prohibit them. Peeved, he snapped the power supply to the club. Shailender Khanna, the president of Central Phoenix Club, submitted a complaint to Haryana Power and Energy Minister Anil Vij. He is also the MLA from Ambala Cantonment. Vij recommended Goel's suspension, saying such behaviour from a public servant was unacceptable
Rijiju's dress-and-dance in Himachal Pradesh
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju spent a memorable three days travelling to remote tribal areas in Lahaul and Spiti of Himachal Pradesh. He donned the traditional dress and even took part in the 'Nati' dance with the locals. BJP MP from Mandi, actor Kangana Ranaut, and local Congress MLA Anuradha Rana joined him. In a series of posts, Rijiju wrote on X, 'Love and affection of Spiti Valley is mesmerising! Launched various projects at Kaza, furthering the vision of PM @narendramodi ji to develop the border areas!' In another post, he wrote, 'We joined (sic) with Kinnauri folk songs & dances!'

After 20 years, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray to share stage for 'victory rally'

After nearly two decades, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray to share stage in Mumbai to celebrate Maharashtra government's rollback of Hindi in primary schools; Congress, Sharad Pawar to skip event New Delhi After nearly 20 years of political estrangement, Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray will come together on Saturday for a joint "mega victory gathering" in Mumbai. The event will celebrate the Maharashtra government's decision to roll back the contentious three-language policy that mandated Hindi as a compulsory subject in primary schools, news agency PTI reported. This rare show of unity between the cousins, known for championing the cause of Marathi pride and language, comes just ahead of the upcoming local body elections, including the crucial polls for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). From estrangement to alliance Their joint appearance on Saturday will take place at the NSCI Dome in Worli, a stronghold of Aaditya Thackeray, Uddhav's son and a prominent leader of the Sena (UBT). The celebration, although branded as apolitical, carries significant political undertones. Both parties have instructed their cadres not to display flags, banners, or party symbols. Still, the event is being closely watched, as both the Sena (UBT) and MNS are struggling to regain electoral ground after poor performances in the 2024 state assembly elections. The Sena (UBT) won 20 seats, while the MNS failed to secure any. Protests, violence, and victory The celebration follows a series of protests led by both parties opposing the state government's April 16 decision to make Hindi compulsory for classes 1 to 5 in Marathi and English medium schools. The backlash led to an amended order on June 17, which made Hindi optional, and the complete withdrawal of the earlier orders on June 29. The same day, Sena (UBT) and MNS leaders burned copies of the government order and announced a protest march. Claiming moral victory after the government's rollback, they decided to convert the protest into a celebration instead. However, the lead-up to the rally has not been without controversy. MNS workers were recently seen assaulting a street vendor for not speaking Marathi, while two people were publicly made to apologise in the presence of Sena (UBT) leader Rajan Vichare, PTI reported. Allies absent, but others join in Although the Congress party supports the anti-Hindi imposition stand, it will not participate in the event. State Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal confirmed their absence. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar will also skip the function, citing prior engagements, though senior leaders like Supriya Sule or Jitendra Awhad may represent the party, PTI reported. Both parties have invited activists, writers, artists, and other political outfits to join the gathering. A day before the event, Sena (UBT) and MNS workers jointly distributed sweets and waved party flags in Thane. Large posters of Uddhav and Raj were put up across the city, while the Koli community held a special prayer at the Aai Ekvira Temple in Thane, praying for continued unity between the Thackeray cousins. Kiren Rijiju, Pema Khandu attend Dalai Lama birthday celebrations; visit amid India-China war of words over spiritual leader's 'successor'

NEW DELHI: Union minister and Arunachal Pradesh chief minister attended the birthday celebrations of the 14th Dalai Lama in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamshala on Saturday, days after the Tibetan spiritual leader's about a succession plan prompted a war of words between China and India. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Dalai Lama will turn 90 on Sunday. He resides at the Tsuglagkhang, the main Tibetan temple in Dharamshala. Rijiju's visit to greet the spiritual leader comes a day after China asked India to handle Tibet-related issues with "caution," saying this could affect efforts to improve bilateral relations. These remarks by a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson followed Rijiju's statement that the Dalai Lama's "reincarnation" should be decided "according to his own wishes." The Union minister's statement was in response to the Chinese asserting earlier this week that the selection process for the spiritual leader's successor should be through a process "approved" by Beijing. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday that India did not have "any position" on the process of selecting the next Dalai Lama. "We have seen reports about His Holiness the Dalai Lama's statement on the continuation of the Dalai Lama institution. The Government of India does not take any position or speak on matters concerning beliefs and practices of faith and religion. The government has always upheld freedom of religion for all in India and will continue to do so," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters at a media briefing in New Delhi. The current Dalai Lama recently said that his successor would be chosen by the India-based Gaden Phodrang Trust — a non-profit organisation he set up — and not by any other authority. This statement was seen as a message to China.

IAS Smita Sabharwal's class 12th marksheet goes viral, she scored highest marks in..., got grade A in..., her pass percentage was...

There is a growing interest in India's civil services, such as IAS, IPS, and IFS. These jobs were once viewed as merely government jobs, but they are now celebrated symbols of power, prestige, and purpose. The Civil Services Examination (CSE) has been conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India since 1926 and is considered one of the toughest exams in India. The exam serves as the gateway to top government positions like IAS, IPS, IFS, and more, attracting thousands of aspirants every year. There are several civil servants who have gained recognition as well as respect for their work and contributions. One such officer is IAS Smita Sabharwal. Dubbed the 'People's Officer', this designation came to Smita not just because of her transparent administration, effective governance, and people-friendly schemes, but she strategically leveraged technology and social media to offer changes and innovations to create efficiencies for public service. Smita cracked the 2000 UPSC CSE examination at 23 and obtained an All India Rank(AIR) of 4 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. If media reports are to be believed, Smita cracked the UPSC exam in her second attempt. While her educational qualification is concerned, Smita Sabharwal completed her schooling at St. Ann's High School in Secunderabad, Telangana. In 1995, she took her Class 12th Examination under the Indian School Certificate (ISC) board through Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, receiving a Grade A in SUPW & Community Service. Her subjects were English, Hindi, Economics, Structure of Commerce, and Principles of Accounts – a varied and titaniacally engineered mix that helped to lay the foundations from which she would go on to succeed in the civil services.
