EastEnders icon returns to Albert Square next week - and it's bad news for Kat

Daily Mirror2 days ago
It's been an exciting week for Kat Slater this week, as she took over as landlady of the Queen Vic - but her bubble may be burst with a huge bombshell dropping next week
It's been a huge week in EastEnders for Kat Slater - as she learnt she'd be the new landlady of the Vic after a surprise last minute shake-up during the auction.

Kat was left elated as her family are 'back where they belong' but her bubble may be burst next week as her relationship problems continue when Alfie returns to the Square. However, he refuses to tell her where he's actually been.

Viewers (and Stacey Slater) know that Alfie left for Barcelona to find his step-daughter Zoe Slater. It came after she fled from Stacey's London flat after a close run-in with her estranged mother, Kat. However, Kat is still unaware of any of this, as Alfie told her he was off to Australia to see his brother Spencer.

It didn't take long for Kat to work out this was a lie, after numerous phone calls to Spencer, with Alfie never able to come to the phone. Spoilers for next week reveal that Alfie will be making his return to the Square - but Kat's left fuming over her husband's lies.
On Monday night (July 21) we saw a clip of a frantic Alfie ringing from Barcelona, telling Stacey he hadn't yet found Zoe.

He then said the people that Zoe owed were asking for hard cash to cover Zoe's debts. He said he needed 50,000 Euros - as Stacey told Alfie she'd received £100,000 from Martin's life insurance.
What she failed to mention was that the money was going to be lent to Kat for a deposit for the Vic. Stacey later told Kat she couldn't lend her the money anymore, but after words of wisdom from Jean, Stacey had a change of heart - and Kat was victorious in taking over the Vic.

Spoilers for next week reveal that Alfie will return to the Square, but it's not a happy reunion with Kat as she tears into him for lying about where he's been.
Kat's under the impression that Alfie went to help his daughter Cherry, who he shares with Hayley Slater, after Stacey confirmed Jean's theory in a bid to cover up where he really was. Alfie promises to never lie to her again, but Kat has heard this promise many times before.
Of course, Stacey is the only one who knows the truth, but her mind is elsewhere next week as she celebrates Martin Fowler's birthday with her kids months on from his death.

It's not only the Slaters facing family trouble next week as there's concern for Patrick Trueman, as his fiancé Yolande is left worrying that her partner is gambling ahead of their wedding. He doesn't listen, proceeding to keep things a secret and when he wins big on the horses he convinces Howie Danes to hide it from Yolande.
Trouble for Patrick comes following the announcement of his son Anthony Trueman's return. With Anthony being Kat's ex - could that also bring trouble for Kat?
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

But he watched on as the men's side lost the last two European Championship finals. And he was in the crowd when his side Aston Villa were hammered 4-0 by Arsenal in the 2015 FA Cup final. To date, the Lionesses' Wembley win is the only final William has seen in which the side he was backing has won — making him their lucky charm. The prince, who is currently on holiday, will jet to Basel, Switzerland, for Sunday's clash, the palace announced yesterday. It comes after the Lionesses won in extra-time against Italy on Tuesday, thanks to striker Chloe Kelly's penalty winner. The team looked to be heading out of the tournament as they trailed 0-1, before 19-year-old Michelle Agyemang's goal in the 96th minute. The game attracted 10.2million viewers — making it the most-watched TV show of 2025 so far. William and Kate posted online: 'Brilliant performance @Lionesses! One game from glory!' Minutes after the win, the King shared a victory message. 'Good luck, England. 'May you roar to victory once more. Charles R.' There is no confirmation if Wills will be joined by Kate or any of their three children. Princes George and Louis are both big football fans, but William recently confessed Charlotte is 'getting there'. FA patron Wills cheered on Lioness Beth Mead, when she was awarded the golden boot and player of the tournament at Euro 2022. But although he watched their last tournament success, he missed their World Cup defeat to Spain two years ago.

First look pictures as Kat Slater launches new EastEnders era in The Queen Vic

New EastEnders pictures reveal the dawn of a new era on Albert Square, as Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) takes over as landlady of The Queen Vic. As viewers of the BBC soap have seen, the Slater clan decided to play a practical joke on Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), when he announced his decision to buy the famed boozer. Pretending she'd won £100k on a scratchcard, Stacey (Lacey Turner) took great joy in seeing him squirm. Unfortunately, the prospect of having that amount of cash in her pocket seemed out of the question. That was, until, a man from an insurance company arrived to tell her that her ex-husband Martin (James Bye) had left the same amount of money in his policy. She wanted to secure her family's financial future by making an investment – and hoped that Kat would accept her offer of stepping back behind the bar. Unfortunately, as the auction began, Kat's husband Alfie (Shane Richie) dropped the bombshell to Stacey that he needed €50,000 to ensure he could bring his estranged step-daughter Zoe (Michelle Ryan) back to Walford. Between 1985 and 1991, the pub was owned by fictional brewery Luxford & Copley, with the following in charge: 1985-88, 2005: Den Watts Den Watts 1988-90: Frank Butcher Frank Butcher 1990-91: Eddie Royle Sharon Watts, Phil Mitchell and brother Grant then bought the famed boozer, and it has been in private ownership ever since. She rushed to tell Kat the good news, and in a bid to stall the auctioneer from slamming his hammer, Jean set off the fire alarm to send everyone out into The Square. As the winning bid – placed by a ruthless developer who planned to redevelop The Vic into flats – was about to be accepted, Kat told current owner Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) that she could match the offer. More Trending In yesterday's instalment, Linda began to pack her bags and looked around her home in reflection of both good and bad times. She knew it was the right decision to make. Kat promised her that she'd keep her late husband Mick's (Danny Dyer) West Ham scarf on display as a fitting tribute, and as the new images show, it's still proudly wrapped around the bottles of whiskey. Looking down over Kat's shoulder is a picture of Peggy Mitchell, who is undoubtedly the most iconic landlady ever to grace the building. Cain consumed with grief in Emmerdale as he devastates Moira with cruel move

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) hurt Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) in tonight's episode of Emmerdale, following a major development about Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) killer. Yesterday, DS Walsh told Cain and Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) that Owen Michaels (Simon Haines) had confessed to killing Nate. Understandably, the news knocked them both. Not only did they have to try and deal with the fact Nate's murderer had been found, but they also had to try and come to terms with the fact a complete stranger was responsible for his death. We know of course, that none of this is true. Last Friday, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) found Owen unconscious in his house. With knowledge that Cain and Tracy were desperate for closure, John left Owen to die and then wrote a note on his laptop, saying that he killed Nate. He believed that it would help Cain and Tracy with moving forward – but it just made things even worse. At Butlers Farm, Moira found Cain at the table. It was early morning, but Cain had been sat there for ages after struggling to sleep. Playing on his mind was the fact he will now never get a chance to confront Owen about Nate's murder. Moira attempted to make Cain feel better by reminding him that she knows exactly what it's like to lose a child. Unfortunately, a grieving Cain told Moira that the aftermath of Holly Barton's death isn't the same as Nate's, because she 'did that to herself'. Ouch. Cain spent the day consumed with negative emotion over the lack of closure regarding Nate. As John's guilt increased, Cain attempted to learn more about the sort of person Owen was from Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson). Liam had been visiting Owen as his doctor, but refused to tell Cain anything that would breach patient confidentiality. This left Cain incredibly annoyed and it led to him grabbing his best friend. Sent away from the pub, Cain took himself off for a walk to clear his head. He ended up back at Butlers Farm where he found Moira feeding some cows. More Trending Cain apologised to Moira and they hugged, with Moira being understanding of the situation Cain is currently in. As he left, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) arrived. Topic of conversation turned to Owen and when Moira mentioned him planting Nate's phone in Frankie's playhouse, Robert was astounded. He found it incredibly odd that Owen would risk getting caught by heading to the place Nate lived – and will soon get very close indeed to the truth about Nate.
