EastEnders reveals first look at Kat Slater as Queen Vic landlady after 12 years

EastEnders have revealed first look images of Kat Slater behind the bar in the Queen Vic as she returns to the pub as landlady after Linda and Elaine made an emotional exit EastEnders have revealed first look pictures of Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) back behind the bar at the Queen Vic for the first time in 12 years. ‌ In the new images, Kat can be seen smiling behind the bar with two West Ham scarfs behind her - which appear to be a nod to her husband, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). ‌ It's a special place for the couple, who ran the pub together from 2010 - 2013, when the Carters took over. It's also the place they first met in 2002, when Kat worked as a barmaid, while Alfie managed the establishment. ‌ Fans were over the moon when it was announced during EastEnders that Kat would be taking over as landlady - but it wasn't looking likely as she failed to even turn up to the auction. The original plan was to loan £100k from Stacey - who had received the lump sum from Martin's life insurance. ‌ However, just as they were about to head to the auction, Stacey received a worrying phone call from Alfie Moon saying he urgently needed 50,000 Euros which Zoe owed people in Barcelona. Stacey then told Kat she couldn't lend her the deposit after all, but later had a change of heart after some words of wisdom from Jean. As Ian Beale and a developer battled it out in the auction, a frantic Jean set the fire alarm off, meaning everyone had to be evacuated. Linda then announced she'd be selling the pub to Kat, who had turned up in her dressing gown. Kat was over the moon, as Linda told her to "fill it with love". The move in is set to be imminent as Elaine will be residing at Kat's flat until they find a more permanent place to live, with Kat and the kids moving back to their old home. ‌ Alfie however still has no idea yet that Kat has bought the pub - and Kat still has no idea that her husband is over in Barcelona helping out her estranged daughter Zoe. It was an emotional moment for Linda Carter on Tuesday night as she left the pub she had lived in since 2013. ‌ She said a tearful goodbye to the establishment, Tracey and her mum Elaine as she hopped into a black cab for a well deserved break on a cruise. However, fans don't have to fear as Linda hasn't left the soap for good and will be back after an extended break. She hasn't fully left the Vic either, as in an adorable moment, Kat told her she'd leave the picture of Mick on the wall to remember him by. EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders fans left in tears as Linda Carter says goodbye in 'end of an era'

EastEnders fans were left feeling tearful watching last night's episode, as Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) left the Queen Vic pub. Linda chose to put the boozer up for auction as she became ready to start a new chapter in her life. The Carter family has lived in the pub since 2013 and have faced a multitude of dramatic ordeals since then. In recent years, Linda has dealt with Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) getting lost at sea, murdering Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), covering up his death with The Six and earlier this year, the pub exploded as a result of Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) crashing his car into the side of the building. And that's not even the half of it! It's no surprise that Linda wants to start again. In the instalment that aired last night, she handed the keys over to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), who became the new owner as a result of Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) gaining access to Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance. To get her head around the change, Linda decided to temporarily leave Walford. Having been handed tickets for a cruise from mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), she packed her belongings and waved goodbye to Albert Square. The scenes marked a massive end of an era, and fans of the BBC One soap were incredibly moved watching Linda depart. Taking to social media platform X, this fan said: 'Truly the end of an era, just glad that this time it's a decision that's been made on her terms and she's been allowed to say a proper goodbye to the old place and that next chapter of linda carter is going to be sublime, i can feel it #eastenders.' This audience member reflected on the 12 years Linda lived in the pub and wrote: 'Twelve PHENOMENAL years of having Linda Carter as landlady has come to an end. Kellie has been a powerhouse since joining the show and embodied the landlady role to perfection. 'Going to miss Linda front and centre in the Vic but excited to see what she moves onto next.' Another wrote: 'Still blows my mind that Linda first took over the pub nearly 12 (!!!) years ago, where has the time gone #EastEnders.' EastEnders fans 'in tears' as Linda Carter makes emotional exit after revealing huge secret

EastEnders aired an emotional exit for Linda Carter today as she said goodbye to the Vic, but not before dropping a huge bombshell - and fans predict trouble ahead... It was an emotional episode of EastEnders tonight as Linda Carter said goodbye to the Vic and to Albert Square - for a while. Despite knowing she'd be back - fans were still left in tears. ‌ The Carters and Knights have officially ended their reign as landlords of the beloved pub, with Kat Slater set to return as landlady. In tonight's episode, the family finished off packing up and Linda and her children headed off for a well deserved break on a cruise, while Elaine remains in Walford. ‌ It marks the end of an era and a fresh start for the family, as Elaine persuaded Linda to tell Oscar that Annie was his half sister. Linda was reluctant to tell Oscar, adamant she didn't want Max to know. However, a cheeky Oscar didn't look like he was willing to keep the secret as he responded: "And miss his face when he finds out?" ‌ However, later on in the episode, Linda was seen begging Lauren to ask Oscar not to tell Max - as Lauren reassured her that none of them have a relationship with their father. Lauren then had another chat with Oscar, and as Linda got ready to hop into a black cab, Lauren reassured her: "It's OK, he's not going to say anything, are you?" "No," Oscar responded. "No-one wants my dad back round here." Linda thanked Oscar and proceeded to say a teary goodbye to Tracey and her mum Elaine. ‌ Fans were left in tears, as one wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Tracy & Linda's goodbye hug. I'm not crying you are," posted one fan, as another said: "Trying to cope with not seeing Linda for several weeks now that she's gone on her cruise. I'm going to miss her so bloody much." A third emotional fan penned: "It's official, Linda has left the Vic and has gone on holiday for weeks now. Her goodbye to Trace and Elaine saying she's proud of her. I'm so emotional." ‌ Others were convinced that there'd be trouble waiting for Linda upon her been revealed that Max Branning (Jake Wood) will be making a return later this year, and fans think he'll be back in the Square waiting for Linda upon her return. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter during the episode, one fan penned: "Why do I get the feeling that Max will be back on the Square by the time she comes back to Walford. Linda took a massive risk telling Oscar about Annie - I just hope Max's return doesn't trigger another relapse as Linda has done so well to stay sober." Another said: "We know Max is on his way back to Walford - but could this be what brings Max back to the Square. I hope Oscar doesn't say anything," as a third agreed: "Linda's definitely gonna return from her holiday to see that Max is back in Walford, can't wait."

EastEnders icon returns to Albert Square next week - and it's bad news for Kat

It's been an exciting week for Kat Slater this week, as she took over as landlady of the Queen Vic - but her bubble may be burst with a huge bombshell dropping next week It's been a huge week in EastEnders for Kat Slater - as she learnt she'd be the new landlady of the Vic after a surprise last minute shake-up during the auction. ‌ Kat was left elated as her family are 'back where they belong' but her bubble may be burst next week as her relationship problems continue when Alfie returns to the Square. However, he refuses to tell her where he's actually been. ‌ Viewers (and Stacey Slater) know that Alfie left for Barcelona to find his step-daughter Zoe Slater. It came after she fled from Stacey's London flat after a close run-in with her estranged mother, Kat. However, Kat is still unaware of any of this, as Alfie told her he was off to Australia to see his brother Spencer. ‌ It didn't take long for Kat to work out this was a lie, after numerous phone calls to Spencer, with Alfie never able to come to the phone. Spoilers for next week reveal that Alfie will be making his return to the Square - but Kat's left fuming over her husband's lies. On Monday night (July 21) we saw a clip of a frantic Alfie ringing from Barcelona, telling Stacey he hadn't yet found Zoe. ‌ He then said the people that Zoe owed were asking for hard cash to cover Zoe's debts. He said he needed 50,000 Euros - as Stacey told Alfie she'd received £100,000 from Martin's life insurance. What she failed to mention was that the money was going to be lent to Kat for a deposit for the Vic. Stacey later told Kat she couldn't lend her the money anymore, but after words of wisdom from Jean, Stacey had a change of heart - and Kat was victorious in taking over the Vic. ‌ Spoilers for next week reveal that Alfie will return to the Square, but it's not a happy reunion with Kat as she tears into him for lying about where he's been. Kat's under the impression that Alfie went to help his daughter Cherry, who he shares with Hayley Slater, after Stacey confirmed Jean's theory in a bid to cover up where he really was. Alfie promises to never lie to her again, but Kat has heard this promise many times before. Of course, Stacey is the only one who knows the truth, but her mind is elsewhere next week as she celebrates Martin Fowler's birthday with her kids months on from his death. ‌ It's not only the Slaters facing family trouble next week as there's concern for Patrick Trueman, as his fiancé Yolande is left worrying that her partner is gambling ahead of their wedding. He doesn't listen, proceeding to keep things a secret and when he wins big on the horses he convinces Howie Danes to hide it from Yolande. Trouble for Patrick comes following the announcement of his son Anthony Trueman's return. With Anthony being Kat's ex - could that also bring trouble for Kat? EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
