Not Ishan Kishan, Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper N Jagadeesan gets India call-up as Rishabh Pant's cover against England
The Indian vice-captain, who was grimacing in pain, retired hurt for 37 and was immediately taken for scans. Following Pant's injury, media reports stated Ishan Kishan is likely to be added in the squad as cover. However, a recent TOI report stated Kishan, who played for India A against England Lions, suffered an ankle injury and won't be available.
'Jagadeesan got a call in the afternoon from the BCCI, informing him about his selection in the Indian team for the Test tour of England. He is simply waiting for his visa at this point of time. All other formalities have been cleared,' a source was quoted as saying by the media outlet.
"Jagadeesan was very happy following his selection in the squad. However, he is simply going through his normal routine at this point of time. Jagadeesan came for his regular practice session after getting the news update and went through the drills," the source added.
Meanwhile, Pant came out to bat hobbling on Day 2 after he was cleared to take the field by the BCCI medical team. "Rishabh Pant, who sustained an injury to his right foot on Day 1 of the Manchester Test, will not be performing wicket-keeping duties for the remainder of the match. Dhruv Jurel will assume the role of wicket-keeper.
'Despite his injury, Rishabh Pant has joined the team on Day 2 and will be available to bat as per team requirements,' BCCI posted on X. He came out to bat after the fall of Shardul Thakur. It is highly unlikely that Pant will play in the fifth and final Test at The Oval with Jurel replacing him.

Bumrah, who took five-wicket hauls in the first and third Tests against England - both in a losing cause - looked a pale shadow in the ongoing fourth Test in Manchester. He just took the lone wicket of Jamie Smith as England are on course for a huge first innings lead against India. In a video posted on social media, Kaif claimed that the Indian team might need to prepare themselves without Bumrah at least in Tests going forward. In fact, prior to the start of the series, India head coach Gautam Gambhir confirmed that he Bumrah will play three games. "I don't think you will see Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming Tests, and he might retire. He is struggling, and there is a noticeable drop in pace. He is an honest person. He is a player who can get anybody out according to his will. I feel passion is there, but he has lost his body and fitness," added Kaif. "His body is not supporting him. His inability to take wickets in this Test is a clear indicator that he will face issues in future Test matches. Maybe he might not play in future. Virat, Rohit and Ashwin have left. Maybe the time is coming when India will play without Bumrah. I hope my predictions are wrong," he concluded.

Diksha lone Indian to make cut in Womens Scottish Open
Agency: North Ayrshire (Scotland), Jul 26 (PTI) Diksha Dagar was the lone Indian to make the cut at the 2025 ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open golf tournament and was placed T-59 here. With rounds of 69-76, Diksha was 1-over at the Par-72 course as 71 players made the cut. The leader is England's Lottie Woad, who is making her pro debut. She added a 65 to her first round 67 and is now 12-under. Diksha, the 24-year-old two-time winner on the Ladies European Tour, who shot 3-under 69 in the first round, seemed to be on her way out as she was in danger at six-over through 16 holes in the second round and 3-over for the tournament. As she has done many times before, Diksha rallied from the precarious position to birdie the last two holes and made the weekend on the cut line, which fell at 1-over.
