Savitha lambasts YSRCP leaders for inciting violence against people
Speaking to the media at her camp office here on Saturday, the minister alleged that YSRCP workers were being provoked by their leadership to attack the public with slogans like 'cut them down' and 'beat them up.' She directly targeted former minister Perni Nani, accusing him of stealing ration rice meant for the poor and referring to him as someone who 'filled his stomach by robbing the hungry.'
Savitha said that the YSRCP leadership failed to understand that power is not permanent and, during their five-year rule, violated laws and amassed illegal wealth. Now that their misdeeds are coming to light, they are filled with fear and insecurity, she added.
She stated that with the fear of imprisonment looming, the YSRCP leaders are taking out their frustration at not only on the coalition government but also at officials and the people. 'People gave them just 11 seats because they saw through their corruption and betrayal,' she said, adding that their frustration is now manifesting in reckless, inflammatory rhetoric.
Savitha cited recent controversial remarks by YSRCP leaders threatening violence. She accused the YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of justifying such threats and reminded the public of an incident where a Dalit party worker was allegedly run over by a car under YSRCP's regime.
She also reiterated accusations against Perni Nani for allegedly diverting 4,000 bags of ration rice stored in a rented Civil Supplies Corporation warehouse, a matter that is currently under court investigation.
The BC welfare minister criticised a YSRCP leader of Nellore district for using abusive language against a woman MLA and said that the party is using its workers as pawns for selfish political motives. She warned YSRCP workers that believing in such leaders' words would only cause them harm.
She said that coalition leaders and workers will not be provoked and will remain calm and focused on state development. She said the people are no longer in a mood to tolerate the words or actions of YSRCP leaders.

Police lathi charged on the protesting Jan Suraaj party workers who were on their way to gherao the ongoing Monsoon Session of Bihar Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday (July 23, 2025). In the scuffle between the police and party workers, many got seriously injured. Jan Suraaj party was protesting against the government in support of their demands including alleged corruption in land survey, Dalit families not getting three decimal of land and 94 lakh poor families not getting ₹2 lakh for employment despite government announcement. As planned, the party workers were not allowed to enter the road which was leading towards the Assembly building. They tried their best from 11 a.m. when the Assembly proceedings began but everywhere there was heavy deputation of the police force. Holding placards, banners and posters, the party workers gathered at Patel Chowk near Chitkohra Bridge. Even Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor also reached near the protest site. When the police tried to stop them, party workers including Mr. Kishore sat on a dharna on the road itself after a scuffle. The police tried hard to remove the workers and when they tried to break the police barricading and move towards the Assembly, the police responded through lathi charge to disperse the protestors. Many of the party workers received injuries. One party worker was hit on his head. One party worker was hit on both legs due to which he was unable to walk. Both were rushed to nearby hospitals. Pointing towards the police, Mr. Kishor said, 'Why did you lathi charge on my party workers? Did any of my party workers pelt stones on any police officer or magistrates, then why do you people lathi charge on them? Do you have the guts to use your lathi on me then I will show what I can do. I will make it difficult for the government to function even for a day.' When a police officer asked him to leave the place, Mr. Kishor further said, 'Don't show me this police tantrum, I have seen enough of this. For the last two months, we have trying to meet the Chief Minister over our demands but there is no response. We also tried to meet the Governor but ge also did not have time. So, we had no other options except going to Vidhan Sabha.' Later, a six member delegation led by Jan Suraaj State president Manoj Bharti met Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena to hand over the memorandum of the demands. Mr. Kishor threatened if the government does not take action on their demands then he will gheraoe the official residence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by bringing one lakh people.

UP woman constable accuses sub-inspector of rape, blackmail, assault over last 2 years, FIR lodged
The constable, a resident of Mathura posted in Jhansi, has alleged in her complaint that in the first instance, Goswami raped her at a Mathura farmhouse by giving her intoxicants, while he and his friend later assaulted her together in Moradabad. In the FIR, accessed by ThePrint, the constable names sub-inspector Ravikant Goswami, a resident of UP's Baghpat, and his friend Dikshant Sharma as the perpetrators. Mathura: The Uttar Pradesh police department is astir over an FIR lodged on a woman constable's complaint that a sub-inspector and his friend allegedly raped her, recorded the act and blackmailed her. According to the complaint, the first incident is of 17 February, 2023. Goswami, posted in Jhansi's Chirgaon police station, had called her to a farmhouse in Mathura. When she reached there, he offered her alcohol, which she consumed and became unconscious. He then raped her and recorded the act, states the FIR. The complaint adds that the sub-inspector subsequently threatened to circulate the video and proceeded to blackmail the constable. Threatening that he would harm her family, he forced physical relations with the constable several times, it states. Then, on 22 June, 2023, Goswami and Sharma allegedly called the constable to a hotel in Moradabad and raped her after mixing intoxicants in her juice. They also made a video, according to the FIR. It further alleges that on 12 January this year, when the constable went to Jhansi to see a doctor, Goswami beat her up for not answering his phone call. She suffered a fracture in her finger in this assault. The constable states that she finally mustered up the courage to report her ordeal this week and filed a complaint at Jamuna Par police station in Mathura. The FIR was lodged under sections relating to gangrape, causing hurt with intent to commit an offence, voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult and criminal intimidation. Jamuna Par police station in-charge Ajay Kishore said the FIR had been registered against Ravikant Goswami and his friend on the complaint of the woman constable. 'Serious allegations have been made by the constable. An FIR has been registered. The matter is being investigated and necessary action will be taken thereafter,' he told ThePrint. Senior UP police officers said they are taking the matter seriously and that such incidents tarnish the image of the police and raise questions about the safety of women employees. However, none were willing to comment on record on the matter. Women's organisations and rights groups have started raising their voice against the incident, on social media and otherwise. Social activist and Dalit leader Rajkumar Nagrath told ThePrint that rising incidents of such crimes against women in a department like the police not only raise questions on law and order, but also show how weak the system of departmental monitoring and accountability is. 'To ensure that the victim gets justice soon, it is necessary that not only are the accused arrested, but concrete and structural changes are made for women's safety within the police department,' he said. Man gets life term for killing Dalit farmer who objected to daughter-in-law's harassment
Agra: Nearly 17 years after a Dalit farmer was beaten to death in Mainpuri for objecting to the harassment of his daughter-in-law, a local SC/ST court on Wednesday sentenced the prime accused to life imprisonment. Police said the victim, Saheb Singh, had raised a complaint against his neighbour's son, Anand Kumar (now 48), for allegedly stopping his daughter-in-law on the way — an act that led to tensions between the two families. Additional district govt counsel (ADGC) MP Singh said the killing took place on Dec 22, 2008, in Mainpuri's Gangsi village, when Saheb Singh, who was in his late 40s at the time of the incident, and his son Ashok were returning home from their fields. They were attacked with heavy objects by three men. Both sustained serious injuries, and Saheb later died during treatment. In her police complaint, Saheb's wife alleged that Anand, his father Munnalal Rai (then 50) and his uncle Hari Prakash (then 52) thrashed her husband and son. Munnalal also hurled casteist slurs and incited others. The attackers allegedly used whips and sticks to beat them. Police registered a case under IPC section 302 (murder) and relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act. A chargesheet was filed soon after the arrests. While Munnalal and Hari Prakash died during the trial, Anand Kumar was convicted and sent to jail on Wednesday. The court also imposed a fine of ₹30,000 on him.
