Usha Vance recalls meeting with Modi, says children put him in ‘grandfather category'
Stating that the children loved PM Modi, she said that her kids were sleep deprived, and when "they saw an Indian man with a white beard and white hair, they just put him in the grandfather category immediately.'
Vance also termed her visit to India as a 'trip of lifetime,' and added that it was her children's first visit to India. She said that her kids met PM Modi in Paris and hugged him. Also PM cemented his status by giving her five year old son a birthday present. Talking about the Prime Minister, she said that he was 'very kind and generous' to the kids and that the talks between him and Vice President JD Vance were very 'productive'.
Vance also noted that though her children grew up knowing so much about India's food, relationship with grandparents and friends, they never had the chance to see it. So it was 'just mind blowing from their perspective,' she added.
Further, when they were at the Prime Minister's residence, her son Ewan was just taken by the entire cart of mangoes that was available for him to eat, and he announced to the Prime Minister that he thought he could maybe live there and started making his plans. Vance shared that her eldest son, Ewan, was particularly captivated by the temple sculptures, while her middle child, Vivek, was thrilled to see elephants, camels, and peacocks. Her daughter's favourite moment was a ride in an auto-rickshaw.
During the visit, the children had several playful moments with PM, from exploring the lawns to seeing bird feeders at PM's residence. PM Modi also presented the three children with peacock feathers.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Embassy in Thailand has issued a travel advisory urging Indian nationals to stay updated and avoid certain areas near the Thailand-Cambodia border, as deadly clashes between the two countries continue. In a post on X, the Embassy advised travellers to monitor official Thai sources such as the TAT Newsroom, and referred to a Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) alert listing areas in seven provinces that should be avoided due to the ongoing conflict. Travellers were urged to contact local TAT offices for further updates and assistance. Addressing an All Parties Conference in Peshawar, CM Gandapur said the ISI and MI are planting and protecting militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He alleged that the agencies effectively 'own" the militants operating in the region and are directly responsible for the escalating terror threat. The chief minister emphasised that his government has cleared all areas of militants and conducted multiple operations against them. However, he said the efforts of the provincial police and administration are being actively undermined by the intelligence agencies, who continue to shield extremists under the guise of supporting so-called 'Good Taliban". Rejecting this distinction outright, Gandapur declared that the province does not want the 'Good Taliban" being protected by the ISI and MI. 'We don't want your Good Taliban in the province," he said. He issued a strong warning, saying the people of KP will not tolerate further violence. If the agencies wished to continue playing 'dirty games," he said, they might as well officially recruit the militants and give them uniforms. According to the chief minister, the worsening security situation in the province cannot be brought under control because of the influence and interference of ISI and MI. He further revealed that whenever KP Police arrest militants, individuals from ISI arrive to secure their release. According to them, the ISI has long opposed stability in areas governed by Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They believe the agency is deliberately turning these regions into terror hubs to weaken the PTI's leadership and governance. The broader goal, they say, is to portray CM Gandapur as a failed administrator and pressure him into resignation. The sources also commented on the deteriorating condition of Imran Khan, adding that his sister has already announced plans to approach the International Court of Justice. She has also described the prevailing system in Pakistan as being under 'Asim Law," a reference to Army Chief General Asim Munir's growing dominance in the country's political landscape. These revelations lay bare the deepening cracks between Pakistan's civilian government and its military-intelligence establishment, even as the country continues to grapple with political instability and rising militant violence.
