Arizona Cardinals to face several of NFL's top guards and centers

USA Today12-07-2025
No Cardinals OL made ESPN's top 10 interior linemen, but the Cardinals will face several this coming season.
As NFL training camp approaches for most NFL teams (the Los Angeles Chargers reported on Saturday), sites continue to publish lists, rankings and predictions.
ESPN has been revealing player rankings at different positions, but with a twist. They are based on the votes of coaches, scouts and executives.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed the rankings for the interior offensive linemen — the top 10 and five honorable mentions. Unsurprisingly, the Arizona Cardinals did not have any of their linemen in the group.
After all, while left guard Evan Brown and center Hjalte Froholdt have been solid in their roles in the starting lineup, no one really considers them among the best at their positions, while right guard Isaiah Adams, projected to be a starter in 2025, has five NFL starts under his belt as he enters his second season.
However, the Cardinasl will face some of these top interior linemen.
NFL interior linemen rankings: Which ones will the Cardinals face in 2025?
The Cardinals will face four of the top 10 and another three of the five honorable mentions.
The Cardinals have an upgraded defensive interior this season, so it will be fun to see who has the advantage in these games.

Lions Offensive Line Is a Work in Progress a Year After Being Among NFL's Best

From one of the best offensive lines in the NFL last year to a work in progress. That's one of the Detroit Lions' priorities with the start of training camp. Still led by tackle Penei Sewell, the Lions will have to replace center Frank Ragnow due to retirement and the loss of right guard Kevin Zeitler in free agency has opened up competition for at least two new starters. Graham Glasgow, who started at left guard last season and has experience at center, along with rookie Tate Ratledge are getting reps at center through four days of training camp. And then there's the banged-up veteran Taylor Decker at left tackle. "It's been great," Lions quarterback Jared Goff said Thursday. "Tate, I thought, was doing a good job. Graham was in there today, and I've been comfortable with Graham for quite some time. Whoever it ends up being, I'll be good with." After Ratledge saw the bulk of center reps the first three days of camp, Glasgow took the center snaps Thursday. Ratledge played only guard at Georgia except for a few practice snaps at center. So he's adjusting to the NFL game and to playing a new position. "I think just the speed of everything happening," Ratledge said. "At guard you have a little bit of a delay being off the ball and then, of course, you get up here and you're going against quicker guys." He has no preference for guard or center. "I enjoy football," said Ratledge, a second-round pick out of Georgia. "It doesn't matter where I am on the field." Coach Dan Campbell said earlier in the week that he would keep his eye on the offensive line. "(Ratledge is) getting it all at once," Campbell said. "It's everything, it is. It's the mental, and it's the technique of it. So, yeah, look, we're putting a lot on him. He's drinking out of a fire hose right now, but there are things that we saw with him in college at Georgia that we felt like, 'You know what? We think this guy can play center.'" Decker remains sidelined while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but is expected to join the team after the Hall of Fame game on July 31. He's been on the sidelines at camp daily. "The standard is the standard," Decker said. "We're expected to be one of the top offensive lines in the league. You lose big pieces, but we've put those expectations on ourselves and put ourselves in a position where we're expected to perform a certain way and it doesn't matter." Pro Bowl right tackle Sewell is healthy and practicing daily. Christian Mahogany has been a sort of utility lineman for the Lions the past couple of years. He played in seven games in 2024 and started two, including a playoff game. Kayode Awosika, who started 11 games at guard in 2024, will also contend for a starting guard spot. 2025 NFL Odds: How Will Travis Hunter Perform As 2-Way Player?

Can Travis Hunter really play both sides of the ball in the NFL? Hunter, a wide receiver and cornerback in college, was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars after one year at Jackson State and two seasons at Colorado. And on Wednesday, Jags head coach Liam Cohen said that the team plans to have him practice at both positions. "You want to give him a couple days offense, a couple days defense, and then give him an opportunity to go flip-flop within the same practice and then that will kind of become the norm," Coen said. "Every moment, every minute that he is in the building, it is accounted for and trying to make sure that we maximize his time and our time so that we can ultimately get the best outcome." If Hunter were to play offense and defense, how would he perform? Let's check out the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of July 24. Travis Hunter to record 1000+ regular-season receiving yards: +230 (bet $10 to win $33 total) Travis Hunter to record 75+ regular-season receptions & record 2+ regular-season interceptions: +250 (bet $10 to win $35 total) Travis Hunter to score 10+ touchdowns (combined offensive and defensive touchdowns: +700 (bet $10 to win $80 total) Travis Hunter to record 5+ regular-season offensive touchdowns & 1+ regular-season defensive: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total) Travis Hunter to score 1+ touchdown & record 1+ interception in season debut: +1600 (bet $10 to win $170 total) Travis Hunter to record 750+ regular-season yards & record 5+ regular-season interceptions: +1700 (bet $10 to win $180 total) Although Hunter has yet to take an NFL snap, he played a remarkable 2,625 snaps and became the most decorated player in Colorado football history. During his time with the Buffaloes, he recorded 171 receptions for 2,167 yards and 24 touchdowns. Defensively, Hunter was equally impressive. He logged 87 tackles (including 63 solo and three for a loss), along with nine interceptions for 99 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, he had 26 pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Hunter's milestones earned him numerous awards, including the Heisman Trophy, AP College Football Player of the Year, Walter Camp Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award and Lott Trophy, and he was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Crowd will be behind retiring Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway at UFC 318

UFC 318 will culminate with the trilogy fight between Max Holloway and the retiring Dustin Poirier for Holloway's 'BMF' title on Saturday in New Orleans. Holloway (26-8 MMA) and Poirier (30-9, 1 NC) previously fought in 2012 and 2019, with Poirier winning both fights. The most recent meeting saw Poirier win a unanimous decision for the UFC interim lightweight championship in one of the promotion's most talked-about fights. Shifting to the trilogy fight, it's Poirier's final UFC fight, and the Smoothie King Center will play host to the festivities. It is Poirier's first fight in his home state in a decade, which means a great deal to the 36-year-old. 'If you chase your dreams, anything is possible,' Poirier said. Poirier confirmed rapper and New Orleans icon Lil Wayne will be part of his entrance for the fight, revealing that with a win, he wants Wayne to be part of the belt presentation ceremony. Holloway, despite being from Hawaii, wants the same treatment. Holloway showed mutual respect toward his rival but said he is embracing the role of fighting in enemy territory. 'It's gonna be a fun one, man,' Holloway said. 'It's gonna be a fun one. It's his last dance ... Bring out more of the boos, please. That's what I like to hear.' Holloway has held the symbolic 'BMF' title since UFC 300, when he knocked out Justin Gaethje. Neither fighter offered an exact prediction for the fight, but did say that they hope to put on one of the best fights in recent memory, similar to their April 2019 encounter. Nevertheless, Holloway-Poirier 3 tops a 14-fight card with main card festivities getting underway on ESPN+ pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
