The Mariners visit the Twins and I haven't been this excited since the U.S. beat Haiti in the group stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Seattle's Emerson Hancock allowed just three runs over 17 ²/₃, but 'Hitchcock' frightened his club, giving up nine runs on four homers in his most recent start.
The Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson has given up 11 runs over his past 15 ¹/₃ at home.

Cubs' Drew Pomeranz makes history with 26-game scoreless streak
The post Cubs' Drew Pomeranz makes history with 26-game scoreless streak appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Chicago Cubs have dominated the NL Central this season as All-Stars Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong lead the way. Yet while Chicago's acquisition of Tucker has been the subject of much fanfare, an under-the-radar addition by the team has paid dividends. Advertisement The Cubs landed Drew Pomeranz in a trade with the Seattle Mariners earlier this season. And the lefty reliever has bolstered Chicago's bullpen. After pitching in the Cubs' 1-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians Thursday, Pomeranz has 26 straight scoreless appearances to start the season, per Just Baseball on X. It's the longest such streak in baseball history for a pitcher 36 or older. Drew Pomeranz sets record with Cubs after going 1,355 days between MLB pitches Patrick Gorski-Imagn Images Pomeranz took over for Cubs starter Cade Horton after he threw seven shutout innings against the Guardians. The 36-year-old veteran kept Cleveland off the scoreboard, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two batters in 2/3 of an inning. Advertisement On the season, Pomeranz has a 0.00 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 23.1 innings over 26 appearances for the Cubs. The incredible streak is all the more awe inspiring when considering the big lefty's journey. Before his scoreless innings streak in 2025, Pomeranz last pitched in a major league game in 2021. That year he was off to a strong start with the San Diego Padres when he was forced to undergo season-ending surgery on his left elbow. The surgery wiped out Pomeranz's 2022 campaign. And an additional procedure, followed by a setback, kept him sidelined throughout 2023 as well. He spent the 2024 season bouncing between minor league stints before ultimately signing with the Mariners. However, he didn't take the mound for Seattle before he was traded to the Cubs. When he made his first appearance with Chicago on April 25 it had been three years and eight months since he last threw a pitch in the majors on August 10, 2021. That's 1,355 days. Advertisement Somehow, after all that time off, Pomeranz not only made his return but he's dominated right off the bat with the best stretch of his 12-year MLB career. Pomeranz helped the Cubs beat the Guardians with his 26th straight scoreless appearance of the season. Chicago is now 52-35 with a four game lead in the NL Central. Wimbledon picks, best bets Saturday: Marton Fucsovics vs. Ben Shelton odds, predictions
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. Ben Shelton is off and running at Wimbledon. The big-serving American has yet to drop a set in his first two rounds, and his serve has only been broken once in the tournament so far. Perhaps even more impressively, Shelton has faced just five break points total at the All England Club. There's very little to complain about when it comes to Shelton's performances, but he's also yet to face a real test. All due respect to grass-court specialist Alex Bolt and his fellow Aussie Rinky Hijikata, but they just couldn't stack up to Shelton, especially when he's serving like that. Marton Fucsovics will also be hard-pressed to deal with Shelton's A-game, but the Hungarian can be a nightmare to deal with in best-of-five tennis, and his record at Wimbledon is much better than you'd think for a player ranked 107th in the world. Wimbledon: Shelton vs. Fucsovics betting preview Like most of the players ranked outside the top 75, Fucsovics doesn't have an elite part of his arsenal. He's solid across the board, but he can't beat you with his serve or his defense alone. That means Fucsovics needs everything to be working so that the best part of his game, his all-world physical endurance, can be a difference-maker. There are few players in the world who can match Fucsovics' endurance, which is why he boasts an impressive record at the Grand Slams. He's 46-38 in his career in best-of-five matches, which is good enough for a 54.8 percent win rate. That's a decent jump above his 48.8 percent win rate in best-of-three tilts. The way to beat Fucsovics is to put him away early and hope that he's not running circles around you in the later stages of a five-setter. American tennis player Ben Shelton celebrates at Wimbledon. Susan Mullane-Imagn Images Wimbledon: Shelton vs. Fucsovics pick Shelton, too, has an impressive record in Grand Slams, but his path to success in this match looks very different compared to Fucsovics. He will want to use his serve to pick up cheap points, keeping the match moving so that Fucsovics can't drag him into deep waters. The problem is that it's unlikely that Shelton's serve will overwhelm Fucsovics like it did Bolt and Hijikata. Get the lowdown on the Best USA Sports Betting Sites and Apps Fucsovics should provide much more resistance against Shelton's serve, which will open up a path to an upset. Tennis Abstract's model actually makes Fucsovics a -141 favorite for this match, and while that may be a stretch, it further drives home the point that Shelton will have his hands full Saturday.
