Those in attendance at the funeral at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday included a representative for the Taoiseach Micheál Martin and GAA president Jarlath Burns.
Delivering the eulogy, Ms Whyte's sister Regina said they have been robbed of their loved ones.
'Vanessa, James and Sara were taken from this world in a cruel and vicious manner – there are no words available to express how this has impacted our family and their friends,' she said.

'We as a family have been robbed of both a relationship with our sister and a chance to see James and Sara grow up, and they have been robbed of the remainder of their lives.
'It has taken us 11 days to be in a position to have Vanessa, James and Sara back to Clare.

'This was supposed to be a joyous occasion where Vanessa would see her new nephew, and Sara and James would meet their baby cousin for the first time. Instead we are in the position of choosing coffins, final burial places and funeral hymns.
'For us as a family, the only comfort we have is that Vanessa, James and Sara are together and finally safe.

'Vanessa will have her children at either side of her forever, as they were when they were alive.'
She described her sister as 'witty, bright, kind and determined', and said James and Sara were the 'focus of her world'.
She recalled James's love of the GAA, playing both hurling and football, and also cricket, adding he has been acknowledged as the 'kind, bright, determined teenager we as a family know so well'.
'James's smile was infectious, and his loyalty was strong,' she said.

Sara was remembered as having a deep love for animals, and aspiring to follow in her mother's footsteps to become a vet, as well as loving sport.
'She was an excellent hurler, a footballer and skilled at netball. She was a team player, a quiet leader, and like every sister, never let James away with anything,' she said.
Amazing Grace and Somewhere Over The Rainbow were among the music played during the service.
Bishop Ger Nash, Bishop of Ferns and a family friend, described heartbreak over the 'tragic and unspeakable loss of three lives with so much to give to the world'.

Delivering the homily, he said every story and shared memory since their deaths 'reminds us of the irreplaceable part they played in the lives of their families, their community, their schools, workplaces, teams and clubs'.
'The tragic events of last week, and the ripping away of three people from their family and friends leave us searching for answers and coming back again and again to the only answer that is completely true: 'We don't know',' he said.

He noted messages of condolences for the mother and her children including from neighbours, but also many from those who simply described themselves as 'A Waterford Mammy', 'A Cork Granny', and 'A Wicklow Mother'.
'There were some with both dads and mams mentioned, but there were many where a woman spoke from her own heart,' he said.
'They don't know you, nor you them, but they know your story, and if they hug their teenagers more tightly and call a ceasefire in the perpetual war about tidy rooms, then they have learned that life is precious, and we must be grateful for every day given to us and to those we love.
'Over and over, I could see that women and mothers, as individuals, reached out in their shock and sadness at the loss of a mother and children, but also conscious that there were heartbroken mothers left behind.
'The messages highlighted the vulnerability of women to pain inflicted by others and were signs of solidarity in the face of that pain.'
Last week crowds also turned out for Ms Whyte, James and Sara for a service of removal in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday.
Agricultural contractor Ian Rutledge, 43, who died on Monday, is understood to be the only suspect in the shooting of his family.
Police in Northern Ireland have said a triple murder and attempted suicide was a line of inquiry.
Ms Whyte, James and Sara are to be buried together in Templemaley Cemetery later.

UK's largest indoor water park temporarily closed after girl, 4, died in lagoon tragedy as cops launch probe

THE UK's largest indoor water park is shut until further notice after a four-year-old girl died in a lagoon tragedy. Cops have now launched an urgent probe after the girl was found unconscious and later passed away in hospital on Monday. 3 Bosses at Waterworld in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, will keep the attraction shut today following the tragedy yesterday afternoon. They said in a statement yesterday: "Waterworld is in shock and has decided to remain closed tomorrow out of respect for the young girl's family." Police were called to the aqua park at around 4:20pm to reports of a four-year-old girl in critical condition. Lifeguards, staff and paramedics treated the girl at the poolside in the Lagoon area of the aqua park before she was raced to hospital. Despite the desperate efforts of hospital staff, the four-year-old sadly passed away. The child's family have been informed of the tragedy and are being supported by specially-trained officers, Staffordshire Police said. A Waterworld spokesperson said: "Waterworld is deeply saddened to confirm that a fatal incident occurred at 4:15pm on Monday, August 4th, in the Lagoon area of the Aqua Park. "A girl of 4 years old was found unconscious and treated on poolside by our lifeguard and management teams on site. "They immediately provided CPR and called the emergency services, who arrived around 4:20pm. "All other visitors were asked to quietly leave the pool out of respect for the rescue operation underway, and we would like to thank them for their support and collaboration. Mum pleads GUILTY to killing daughter, 2, who was found dead in pond just yards from her home "All our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during these extremely difficult times." Bosses say they are working "closely and openly" with the authorities to "precisely understand the circumstances of this tragic accident." Detective Chief Inspector Lucy Maskew from Staffordshire Police said: "Our thoughts are with the family at this terribly sad time. "We are now making enquiries and looking to establish the circumstances of the incident. "We would ask that members of the public avoid speculating in these early stages of the investigation and allow the family to grieve." Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has knowledge of it is urged to call the police. The water park, which opened in 1989, attracts around 400,000 visitors each year and boasts three pools and 20 slides. The Sun reported how a drowning boy was dramatically rescued from a pool at the same Waterworld in 2021. The child was resuscitated by swift-acting lifeguards, who were praised by bosses at the Staffordshire attraction for "avoiding a tragedy". He was rushed to hospital where he was reported to be "alert and breathing" upon arrival moments after his dramatic rescue. 3

Simon Harris holds talks with Haitian counterpart over Gena Heraty kidnapping

Ireland's deputy premier Simon Harris has held talks with his Haitian counterpart about the kidnapping of Irish woman Gena Heraty. Mr Harris, Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs, spoke to Haiti's foreign minister, Harvel Jean-Baptiste by phone and asked that everything is done to ensure the release of Ms Heraty and the other hostages, including a three-year-old child. Ms Heraty was kidnapped along with seven other people from an orphanage in Haiti. Ms Heraty is originally from Westport in Co Mayo. She oversees the orphanage, which is run by the humanitarian organisation Nos Petits Freres Et Soeurs (Our Little Brothers And Sisters). It is understood Ms Heraty was among seven employees who were taken in the incident as well as the young child. Speaking after the call, Mr Harris said: 'I welcome my engagement with Minister Harvel Jean Baptiste after what has been an extremely traumatic few days for the Heraty family, as well as the families of all those who were kidnapped. 'The minister assured me of his support in our work to ensure the safe release of Gena, and all the hostages, who have gone through the most horrendous of ordeals. 'We have agreed to stay in touch about the case, which remains extremely sensitive. 'My officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are in constant contact with the Heraty family. 'When we have further updates, we will provide them.' Mr Harris said he had been in contact with Ms Heraty's family on Monday. Ms Heraty is a member of Viatores Christi, a lay missionary organisation. In a statement, the group said Ms Heraty was taken by armed individuals from her home at the NPFS (Nos Petits Freres et Soeurs) compound in Kenscoff on Sunday morning. 'Gena has worked in Haiti for over 30 years, dedicating her life to children and adults with disabilities through her leadership of NPFS's Special Needs Programme,' it said. 'Her commitment, compassion and steady presence have made a lasting difference to many families in the region. 'Our organisation has supported NPFS's work for a number of years and has seen first-hand the impact of Gena's efforts. We are in close contact with our partners on the ground and remain hopeful for her safe return. 'We are thinking of Gena, her family and colleagues, and the adults and children in her care. We ask that her privacy — and that of those closest to her — be respected as efforts continue to clarify the situation.' Fr John Kenny, administrator of Westport parish in Co Mayo, said the local community was 'saddened and shocked' by the kidnapping. He told RTE Radio 1 that many people attended the weekly Monday mass to pray for her. Ms Heraty's sister, Mary, spoke at the mass. Fr Kenny added: '(The mass) would have generally a small attendance. But yesterday evening, cars were everywhere. People were gathered and quietly prayed and then met with the family afterwards. 'The evening was a nice evening, a quiet evening, so they had the opportunity to meet with her siblings and her extended family and console them and chat to them and reassure them of our prayers and support. '(Mary) was maybe a little bit nervous to speak, because it really is on tenterhooks that anything said or done or anything that would upset the situation in any way, even at this great distance, on social media and (media) coverage, you would be worried. 'The family are very appreciative of the support and very conscious that people are praying and supporting them as we can.' He described Ms Heraty as 'wonderful, generous and caring'. 'She's not one for the spotlight or to highlight herself. It's always the work she does that she draws attention to and the people she works with,' he added. 'Any fundraising events that we support, the local schools, the local communities, are generous to her cause and the cause she works for. 'Reluctantly, as I said, she has to come forward to do that, but it's never for herself. It's never for her own benefit. It's always for the benefit of others. 'That's just the nature of the person she is, a wonderful, generous, caring, compassionate person, a great human being.' Ms Heraty survived a vicious assault while she worked at a Haitian orphanage in 2011. She was punched and hit a number of times with a hammer when men broke into the building. 'We wouldn't know all the ins and outs of what goes on there, but we are conscious that it's an area where there's a lot of unrest, and then all the storms and various terrible natural events that happen too over the years,' Fr Kenny added. 'We're worried about her physical concerns there, that there will be storm damage and flooding and all kinds of things. But then, yes, the unrest and the unease of the local situation.' The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance.
