Luke Littler bites back at darts star over comments in latest outburst
The result triggered a flurry of critiques from past players and viewers, prompting Littler and Humphries to respond fiercely. And Littler wasn't finished yet, responding again after Duff's jibe at England's downfall.
Duff had gloated on Facebook with the post: "How's England doing?" after the nation's stumble. But, when Duff himself floundered in the Modus Super Series, Littler seized his chance for revenge.
Upon Duff's 4-1 loss to Martin Thomas of Wales, Littler took to Instagram and juxtaposed Duff's mocking Facebook post with the defeat screenshots and a sneering remark of his own: "How's Neil Duff doing?".
This was the latest in a string of heated exchanges involving Littler, who earlier took aim at darts legend Dennis Priestley over comments regarding his and Humphries' MBE nominations, reports the Express.
As part of the King's Birthday Honours, the pair were awarded for their contributions to the sport of darts.
However, Priestley, a two-time world champion, voiced his opinion: "To be brutally honest, I don't think either Luke Littler or Luke Humphries have done enough to earn their MBEs just yet.
"I think in time they could've done enough to warrant it, but it feels very early; they have both won one World Championship each and are still young in their careers.
"Littler has been recognised for raising the popularity of darts, which is great, but he can still do so much more.
"If he is getting an MBE this soon, then you'd have to think he is on the right path to a knighthood; nothing would surprise me now."
Priestley's biting remark that Littler and Humphries "let their country down" at the World Cup appeared to have struck a chord with Littler more than anything.
The 18-year-old shot back in a now-deleted Instagram story, saying: "Doesn't deserve an MBE but done more in 12 months than he ever did... that's what I would say anyway. Humphries chimed in on X (formerly Twitter), posting: "Disappointing to hear a top former pro who I admired say such a damaging thing to me and Luke.
"I didn't let my country down last year, though, did I? One bad game for us, and we will be back next year to go again. Let's move on now."

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul strike $1 million bet on winner of Taylor-Serrano
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have apparently struck a $1 million bet on the winner of the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano fight on Friday night. Tyson and Paul are still counting their money after making a fortune from squaring off in a boxing event last November that was watched by 60 million households on Netflix. However, despite the staggering viewing statistics for the headliner, it was the co-main event between Taylor and Serrano that really captivated the fight fans. Bray woman Taylor, having narrowly edged out a split decision victory first time around in 2022, once again reigned supreme on points to go 2-0 up in the series. With eyes now turning to the trilogy bout set for Friday night, it won't just be pride on the line, especially for Paul. The rematch was the most-watched women's sporting event in US history, and ahead of the trilogy, many are once again set to tune in, but there is a little bit more on the line, particularly for Paul, reports All Out Fighting. In a video uploaded to Instagram, Paul confirmed that he and Tyson have a bet for the main event. "Mike! Wassup?" Said Paul. "Man, a lot of people are saying that Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor's fight was better than ours." Tyson quickly replied "Oh yeah?" Paul quickly cut in and replied: "They're fighting again this weekend!" Without hesitation, Tyson stated: "I have got Katie (Taylor)." Unsurprisingly, the 'Problem Child' is backing MVP star Serrano. "Do you wanna bet?" Replied Paul. After a brief pause, Tyson chuckled and agreed to the wager. "All right. If Katie wins then you get $1m, but if Amanda wins, then I get $1m." Tyson let out a quick cough before agreeing: "I like that!" The pair then jokingly agreed to a dinner date at some point after the fight. Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Taylor said she is buzzing to be topping the bill at another major event. She said: "I feel great. Everything is going to plan, thank God. I feel better than I did before the last fight. From week to week, I am getting sharper and feeling stronger in training camp. I'm excited for fight night. What an amazing opportunity to fight at the Garden again, and on Netflix. "When I first laced up a pair of gloves as a nine- or ten-year-old, I don't think anybody would have imagined I would be in this position today. I'm so grateful for this amazing journey! To headline such an impressive all-female card is just remarkable." The 39-year-old added: "You always must make little adjustments for every fight. It's the person who adjusts the better in these three clashes that wins the fights. "It's all about adapting to the challenge, and I think we're on the right track. I out-boxed her the first time and out-fought her the second time, so I feel like I am in a good position for the third fight. "Right now, I'm staying laser-focused and doing what I must do every single day in training. I've been giving it my all, and I'm going to be giving my all again on flight night."
