Some psychic! Fugitive who worked predicted the future nabbed after two decades on the run for fatal DWI crash in Florida

New York Post31-05-2025
A self-proclaimed psychic on the run for more than 20 years after a fatal Florida car crash apparently never saw his capture coming — and now thinks hiding out in the Great White North was a big mistake.
Patrick Lutts Jr. went on the in 2003, after skipping out on a court date related to a Christmas morning drunken driving crash in Orlando in 1998 that left two teens dead, according to the CBC.
Lutts, 51, snuck into Canada and settled in Toronto in 2004, where he never opened a bank account and made a living hosting monthly horror-themed trivia nights under the name 'Pat Lighthelp,' the outlet reported.
3 Patrick Lutts, Jr., lived out in the open in Canada for 21 years.
Facebook/Quebec Disappearance and Criminal Case
Lutts was working for a New Zealand-based psychic reading app called LifeReader.
'I thought that authorities would be able to find me as I stayed in the same place in Toronto for over 20 years,' wrote Lutts in a March 25 affidavit uncovered by the CBC. 'That day just never came until now, but I am tired of running.'
3 Facial recognition software was crucial to Lutts' capture.

Lutts, who has been profiled on the TV show 'America's Most Wanted,' was busted by Toronto Police in February and sought bail prior to his extradition to the United States.
An anonymous tip led the department's fugitive squad to Lutts. An online cyber sleuth is also said to have used facial recognition software to pinpoint Lutts' location.
Lutts remains in Canada awaiting extradition.
3 Nancy Lopez and her boyfriend were killed inthe 1998 Christmas morning crash.
Facebook/Quebec Disappearance and Criminal Case
Lutts is accused of crashing his car into a vehicle driven by Nancy Lopez, 19, and her boyfriend, Darvin Javier DeJesus-Taboada, 18, neither of whom survived.
He faces a pair of DUI manslaughter counts, and if convicted, could end up spending the next 30 years behind bars.

Satellite images show Russia built shelters for vulnerable aircraft after relentless drone strikes, intel says

Russia has built hardened shelters to protect its vulnerable aircraft at several bases following a string of long-range Ukrainian drone strikes, a new Western intelligence assessment suggests. Britain's defense ministry this week published satellite imagery from early June, collected by the US company Planet Labs, that shows newly constructed shelters at three Russian air bases behind the front lines. The shelters, which consist of dome-shaped rooftops and thick blast doors, were photographed at Russia's Millerovo, Kursk Vostochny, and Hvardiiske air bases. Some structures were seen covered with earth for added protection that could help shield against shrapnel or other debris. The UK said in a Tuesday intelligence update that Russia had launched efforts to protect vulnerable aircraft at several bases "in response to numerous successful" Ukrainian drone attacks. Millerovo, just a few miles across the border, for instance, was targeted just last week. "The construction of these hardened aircraft shelters provides a layer of protection to aircraft deployed to Russian airbases against future" Ukrainian drone attacks, the UK explained. Hardened shelters are one of several tactics that Russia has turned to in an effort to protect its fighter jets from the Ukrainian attacks. Moscow has also painted decoy warplanes on the tarmac at its air bases and even covered its bomber aircraft with tires in an attempt to confuse Kyiv's targeting and mislead the drones. It's unclear, however, how effective these protective measures have been. Ukraine's long-range drone attacks have been a bright spot for Kyiv during the three-and-a-half-year-long war, which has transitioned from a maneuver conflict to one of attrition, featuring largely static front lines and standoff strikes from distance. The US long prevented Ukraine from using Western-provided missiles to strike across the border and inside Russian territory. That arsenal was also quite limited. As a workaround to these restrictions, Kyiv invested heavily in domestic drone production. Over the past year, Ukraine has repeatedly used homemade long-range drones to strike a range of high-value military and energy targets inside Russia, including oil terminals, ammunition depots, weapons-making factories, and air bases. Russian air bases have been a particular focus for the Ukrainian military, as Moscow uses these sites to stage deadly attacks against troops and civilians, relying on missiles and guided bombs. On Tuesday, conflict analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, a US-based think tank, said in a battlefield assessment that Ukrainian forces "appear to be intensifying a long-range strike campaign against Russian military industrial facilities and transport networks."

Former captain Brendan Taylor to make emotional return to Zimbabwe cricket after 3 ½-year ban

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe (AP) — Former Zimbabwe cricket captain Brendan Taylor is set to return to international cricket after serving a 3 ½-year ban for breaching the sport's anti-corruption code. Taylor has been named in Zimbabwe's 16-member squad for the second test against New Zealand, starting in Bulawayo on Aug. 7. 'I certainly did think it was all done, but here I am - and it's an overwhelming feeling of gratitude,' Taylor said in a statement issued by Zimbabwe Cricket on Wednesday. 'I have to pinch myself a little to realise that I'm actually here. I've been soaking it all up and embracing every moment. It's just been a really nice integration. 'The last year and a half has certainly been dedicated to my return. I've put in an immense amount of work - from fitness to the technical side to diet - and I'm feeling a lot leaner, fitter and mentally stronger. That's only been possible through sobriety.' The International Cricket Council banned Taylor in Jan. 2022 after he admitted to four charges under the anti-corruption code stemming from an incident in 2019 when he said he accepted $15,000 from businessmen in India, who asked him to fix international games. Taylor claimed he took the money but never fixed any games. He also was found guilty of an anti-doping offense after testing positive for the stimulant Benzoylecognine, which is a cocaine metabolite. Taylor has undergone a thorough rehabilitation programme and has according to ZC, the former captain has 'consistently demonstrated a sincere commitment to personal growth, accountability and restoring trust.' 'Brendan has endured an incredibly difficult chapter in his life and shown genuine remorse, coupled with a powerful determination to make things right – not just for himself but for the good of the game in Zimbabwe,' ZC managing director Givemore Makoni said. Taylor has played 34 test matches for Zimbabwe since making his debut in 2004 that include six centuries. ___ AP cricket:
