Storm brews ahead of House session: Cong to target BJP on graft, law & order
The govt, on the other hand, remains busy for the assembly session, and would bring around ten bills. The important ones include the metropolitan act for Indore and Bhopal.
The Congress would corner the govt over charges of irregularities on the PHE minister, which was investigated by her dept's official and the govt gave her clean chit.
Another issue to be raised in the assembly was the way the govt handled promotion of govt employees due to which it was stalled by the court.
Promotion of govt employees remains on hold since 2016. The govt tried to restart the process by framing new promotion rules, but it has again been put on hold by the court.
The issue of law and order would be raised in the assembly. Contraband network ring in major cities, suicide by policemen issues would be hurled on govt. The Congress stated in six months, 10 policemen have opted for extreme steps in the state.
Among the bills, the state cabinet on May 20 approved the MP Metropolitan Region Planning and Development Act, 2025, which will enable the formation of metropolitan planning committees and metropolitan region development authorities.
Two major regions identified for this are: Indore-Ujjain-Dewas-Dhar and Bhopal-Sehore-Raisen-Vidisha-Biaora (Rajgarh). The govt would table the bill in the ensuing session. The assembly session would continue till Aug 8.

Now, 72-yr-old Cooch Behar resident receives NRC notice from Assam
Jalpaiguri/Kolkata: Days after Dinhata resident Uttam Kumar Brajabashi received an NRC notice from Assam, leading to a strong protest from Trinamool led by CM Mamata Banerjee, another resident from Cooch Behar has received a similar notice. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Septuagenarian Nishikanta Das — a resident of Kushiyar Bari in Ghoksadanga Latapata panchayat of Mathabhanga-II block — received the notice from Assam Foreigners' Tribunal in the third week of April. The notice, written in Assamese, accused Das of illegally entering India from Bangladesh between 1966 and 1971, and sought his reply by May 21. Das appeared before the tribunal and presented his Aadhaar, voter ID and ration card as proof of his Indian citizenship, but these were not accepted. A worried Das then sought help from the district administration. Das said he went to Assam for work in 2001. During that time, Assam Police had detained him once, suspecting him to be a Bangladeshi. However, his employer there clarified that he was not a Bangladeshi. Based on this statement — and after verifying all his documents in Assam — the police had released him. Das returned home after working in Assam for about six months. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, 72-year-old Das said the tribunal officials asked for his father's voter list and identity papers. "I submitted my voter ID, Aadhaar and ration card to the tribunal, but they did not accept them. I was asked to show my father's name on the voter list. My father passed away some 45 years ago and I had no ready documents. Even though I have found that document now, I have decided not to approach the tribunal again," he claimed. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed that Rajbanshis were being harassed just like Matuas. "Whether you (BJP) are detaining Matuas or sending NRC letters to Rajbanshis, you are harassing Hindus. Are they not Hindus? You are not allowing any community in Bengal to live in peace," Ghosh said. Das, now an egg-seller, has two sons and three daughters, all of whom are married and settled in Alipurduar. His wife died eight years ago. Locals said they have known Das for a long time. "I've known him since childhood. He's a bit older than me. Nishikanta has been here for a long time, only going to another state for work for a few months. Due to his age, he hasn't gone out of here for a long time now," said Sumit Barman, a neighbour.

Monsoon session: BJP to raise BBMP split, tunnel road plans in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: BJP has stepped up its opposition to the proposed tunnel road project and the plan to divide BBMP into five municipal corporations. Party MLAs from Bengaluru met in the city Saturday to chalk out a strategy and announced plans to raise both issues in the upcoming legislature session. The meeting was chaired by the opposition leader in the legislative assembly, R Ashoka, and BJP state president BY Vijayendra. Speaking to reporters, Ashoka accused the Congress govt of pursuing the BBMP split for electoral gains. "The division of BBMP is being carried out solely to ensure the Congress party's electoral victory and not for the city's development. We are opposing the plan to divide Bengaluru into five corporations. This is harmful to the interests of the city. In the future, one corporation may end up fighting with another," he said. He added BJP had already approached the judiciary. "Petitions have been filed in both the high court and Supreme Court." "We don't object to the concept of a tunnel road. But they have allowed a dubious company to prepare the DPR. The company was caught copying details from another project and fined Rs 15 lakh. After this, the company should have been blacklisted, not given further responsibility worth Rs 7-8 crore." He warned, "Metro is already being constructed underground in Bengaluru. If a tunnel road is built beneath it, it could compromise safety." Echoing Ashoka's views, Vijayendra said, "Projects like the underground tunnel road and the division of BBMP into five are not in the best interest of the city. Similar experiments in cities like Mumbai have failed. BJP will continue to oppose it." He also highlighted concerns over housing approvals. "Thousands of houses are ready for housewarming, but NOCs have not been issued. We held a detailed discussion on it today," he added.
