Shah Rukh Khan's manager denies claims of illegal constructions at Mannat

The Hindu21-06-2025

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's manager has denied claims of illegal construction work at Mannat, the actor's palatial sea-facing home in Mumbai currently undergoing renovation.
On Friday, as per reports, an inspection team comprising Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and forest department officials arrived at the site to check for violations after a complaint by an activist.
'There are no complaints,' Pooja Dadlani, Khan's manager, was quoted as saying by TOI. 'All work is going on as per guidelines.' A report based on the findings of the inspection team will be submitted soon, a forest official told the publication.
A Mumbai-based activist, Santosh Daundkar, had challenged the legality of the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance granted to Shah Rukh Khan to expand his six-storey mansion, Mannat, by adding two more floors. He had also accused Khan of demolished two heritage structures from 2000 to 2006 without taking mandatory prior environmental clearance from the concerned authorities.
Khan and his family are currently residing at an upscale apartment building in Pali Hill, Bandra till the end of the renovations.
Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. His next film is titled King.

Mechanical elephant ‘Gaja' gifted to temples in Aruppukottai

Chennai-based NGO People for Cattle in India and actress Trisha Krishnan donated a life-sized mechanical elephant named Gaja to Sri Ashtalinga Athisesha Selva Vinayagar and Sri Ashtabhuja Athisesha Varahi Amman Temples in Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district. According to a press release, the initiative marked the first instance in Madurai region and Virudhunagar district where a temple embraced a mechanical elephant for religious ceremonies. Gaja, a meticulously designed mechanical elephant, is set to participate in temple rituals, offering a humane alternative to the traditional use of elephants. Additional Superintendent of Police Mathivanan unveiled the mechanical elephant Gaja. Gaja was introduced on the auspicious occasion of the Kumbabishekam festival at the temples. PFCI facilitated the donation to recognise the temples commitment to abstain from owning or hiring elephants, reflecting a broader movement towards cruelty-free religious practices. By integrating technology with tradition, these temples set a precedent for compassionate worship, inspiring others to follow suit. This move aligns with a growing trend across South India, where temples adopt mechanical elephants to uphold cultural practices while ensuring animal welfare. The world's first mechanical elephant, named Irinjadappilly Raman, was introduced at a temple in Kerala in 2023 by PETA India, the press release said.

Was Shah Rukh Khan lonely during King Uncle, Devdas shooting? Jackie Shroff reveals truth: ‘Akele kone me baitha...'

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the finest actors we have in Bollywood, and there is no denying this fact. His fans are all across the globe, and people are just crazy for him. But do you know, the actor who entertains millions of people feels lonely inside? His Devdas co-star Kackie Shroff, in a recent interview, opened up about working with King Khan in 2 films and what changes he observed in him from King Uncle to Devdas. Talking to Vickey Lalwani, Jackie Shroff was asked about the observation he made in Shah Rukh Khan's growth from King Uncle to Devdas. Revealing about it, the veteran actor recalled SRK playing his younger brother in King Uncle and stated that he saw his 'akelapan' (loneliness). Jackie further said that he saw Shah Rukh sitting on his own on the sets of King Uncle. 'He was playing with my younger brother. And he was respectful, focused on his work, he was charismatic, and charming. But aloof,' he added. Shroff also quipped that he used to be aloof just like the Pathaan star and feels that every actor should experience a sense of loneliness. Elaborating on what he said, Jackie Shroff mentioned that before Devdas, too, they did a couple of films together, like One 2 Ka Four. But, on Devdas, he was the same. 'Mere liye toh mera bhai tha, chhota bhai jo maine dekha. Wohi ladka jo maine dekha tha ki akele kone mein baitha hai. Role bhi waisa tha Devdas ka, aur main jaisa hoon waisa hi tha uske saath.' Jackie Shroff also expressed that it's always lonely at the top, and usually, when one reaches a certain level of success then they experience this. And this was the case with the King Star as well. Talking about Jackie Shroff and Shah Rukh Khan sharing screen space, they were last seen in Happy New Year. This film also had Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and more actors. Reportedly, they will also be seen sharing screen space in SRK's upcoming movie King.
