Kerala catches fancy of more international IT firms
Comply, Giant Eagle and Micropolis are among the IT and ITeS (Information Technology Enabled Services) companies eager to leverage Kerala's GCC ecosystem.
The high-powered IT committee appointed by the government is holding discussions with potential investors, with the support of a consortium of global consulting firms formed specifically for the purpose.
'The firms include new names and existing companies looking for an expansion. The idea of a consortium evolved at the Invest Kerala Global Summit held in February. It really worked,' said Sambasiva Rao, IT Secretary. The consortium comprises 12 leading global consulting firms, including Everest Group, Avasant and ANSR. 'Several prominent companies have already established their GCCs in Kerala. Their presence validates the state's potential in technology, innovation and human resources,' said Sambasiva Rao.
Technopark CEO Sanjeev Nair said Kerala is now a flourishing centre for GCCs, offering state of the art facilities at its IT parks. 'Already several companies have their GCCs in Kerala — IBM, Allianz, Nissan Digital, EY, NOV, Insight, H&R Block, Equifax, Accenture, Guidehouse, Icon, Safran, RM Education etc. to name a few.
The state is poised to accommodate more such centres,' he said.
'State's talent pool draws in IT-driven biz'
According to him, talent pool availability, world-class infrastructure and a robust startup system are the factors which attract IT-driven businesses to Kerala.
'The state is becoming a product engineering hub. We have vibrant IT parks in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. There is a strong talent pipeline availability based on excellent academia-industry connect involving the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Digital University Kerala, ICT Academy of Kerala and MuLearn. Another highlight is a thriving startup ecosystem under the Kerala Startup Mission,' Sanjeev Nair said.
'Kerala's strong social development indicators like highest HDI, literacy rate and internet penetration make it a best place to work and live in the country,' he added.

GCC to construct new bus shelters, refurbish existing ones in 3 zones
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has sanctioned the construction and refurbishment of bus shelters in Tondiarpet (Zone IV), Kodambakkam (Zone X), and Adyar (Zone XIII). In Tondiarpet, a new bus shelter is to be constructed at a Corporation-owned vacant site near R.K. Nagar. According to the GCC, the identified location spans 16,000 Of this, 11,677 will be covered with tensile roofing by a private agency, which will be roped in through a tender for ₹76.5 lakh. A total of ₹1.79 crore has been allotted for the project, which received administrative sanction on June 28, 2025. The bus terminus on Jones Road, adjacent to Jawaharlal Street in West Saidapet, was damaged and in dire need of a revamp. The structure, covering 184.80 sq.m., is set to be refurbished with tensile roofing at a sanctioned amount of ₹10.5 lakh. Orders for the work were issued on July 7, 2025. In Adyar, two damaged bus shelters, located near Easwaran Koil and Gokhale Road, are to be reconstructed with tensile-roofed structures. Administrative sanction for this work was issued on July 23, 2025.

IT sector, GCCs emerging as drivers of Telangana's $ 1trillion economy goal
1 2 Hyderabad: The IT/ITeS sector, especially global capability centres (GCCs), have emerged as a key drivers of Telangana's vision to become a $1 trillion economy, Telangana special chief secretary for IT, Sanjay Kumar, said on Friday. "The govt continues its vision of driving towards a one trillion-dollar economy with IT/ITeS being the key driver, and we believe govts are not just regulators but co-creators of the future. We aim to transform Telangana from a premier IT hub into a global leader in emerging technology such as AI and Quantum through innovation and R&D engagement," Kumar said at the GCC X Summit organised by HYSEA and 3AI here. Pointing to Hyderabad's growing stature as a GCC hub, Sameer Dhanrajani, CEO, 3AI, said the city is giving stiff competition to traditional IT hubs like Bengaluru and attracted 70 GCCs in FY25 alone. He said this was also the reason why 3AI decided to bring the GCC X conclave, which is held every year in Bengaluru, to Hyderabad this year. IT services sector see hiring headwinds, GCCs hold firm: Report
While lay-off announcements from IT companies continue to cause concern among employees, the demand outlook for tech roles in August seems to be dull, as per a report by specialist staffing firm Xpheno. 'August's demand outlook in Tech is a notable 10% drop over openings in July 2025. The overall dip in tech hiring activity continues, with August 2025's outlook being 16% lower than last year's (August 2024) tech demand volume,' notes the Active Tech Job Outlook Report for the month of August 2025. The Active Jobs Outlook Report is a monthly job market monitoring publication from Xpheno. According to the report, the tech sector's current contribution to India's total active talent demand has dropped to 47%. Non-tech sector collective continues to hold the majority contributor status at 53%, after taking over from the Tech sector in October 2022. GCCs remain steady According to the report, demand from the IT Services companies looks at a 13% drop over the previous month's volume. The current demand is also lower by 21% compared to the demand a year ago in August 2024. 'The sustained headwinds and the rise of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) as a popular format of talent consumption continue to keep the IT Services cohort under pressure,' reads the outlook. The GCCs continue to hold firm, maintaining a steady 14,000 active openings for the month of August 2025. The active talent demand from GCCs has remained stable compared to the previous month. 'This underscores their growing dominance as a preferred model for talent deployment and capability building,' notes the report. Mid-senior openings account for 56% of all active openings and have registered a 6% drop in volume compared to the previous month. Opportunities for entry-level tech talent has also shown a month-on-month drop of 6%.
