Broncos respond to Sam Thaiday news after NRL great goes public with awful revelation
Thaiday was named the winner ahead of Matty J and Reggie Bird on Sunday night, leaving fans delighted for the NRL great. On Monday, the Brisbane Broncos wrote on social media: "King of the Jungle. A big congrats to Sammy on being crowned the winner of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2025 and helping out a great cause."
That great cause they mentioned is the 'Find Ya Feet' charity, which Thaiday won $100,000 for. Earlier in the season, the 39-year-old explained why the charity means so much to him as he laid bare some of the personal struggles he overcame as a youngster.
'My charity is called Find Ya Feet. It's run by a guy named Tommy Herschel,' Thaiday told the other celebs. 'He goes into schools and helps young boys, and he gives them a safe place to share their feelings and talk about how they're feeling. I sat in on one of his sessions and to hear how brave some of these young boys were in opening up and sharing their stories about what was going on in their lives.'
Thaiday, who played 304 games for the Broncos as well as 29 State of Origin games for Queensland and 32 Test matches for Australia, made the heartbreaking admission on national TV that he contemplated suicide when he was a teenager. 'As a 13-year-old boy, I wanted to take my own life, and I wish I had someone like Tommy around to let me know that it was okay to talk about my feelings," he said.
"As a young kid, I really struggled to find my place. I found myself too white to be black and too black to be white, and didn't know where I fit in. And if I had someone like Tommy Herschel in my life as a young kid, maybe I would have shared a lot of these stories a lot earlier in my life.
'He's a bit of a one-man band at the moment, and I just thought he needed help. So that's why I'm in here. And hopefully even, like, I don't even have to win it, I just want to raise some awareness for him, I want people talking about it.'

It wasn't the first time Thaiday spoke publicly about his mental health demons, after opening up in an interview back in 2020. But it brought it to the attention of a national audience on TV for the first time, and gave 'Find Ya Feet' some much-needed exposure.
'I had bottled up my feelings for so long not knowing how to express them," he told the in 2020. "I told her (the therapist) my story and I left that session somewhat motivated to tell people my story. Hopefully by getting my story out I can encourage people to speak up.
'I still have moments now where I second guess myself. Self doubt is the loudest voice in your head. That kind of was an ongoing thing throughout my whole life. I want to learn and grow and get better to make that the quietest voice in side my head. I see myself right now as being a little bit lost and lonely at times."

Boxing legend Jeff Fenech speaks out amid daughter's big news with NRL player
Jeff Fenech once declared there was no chance in hell he'd let his daughters date an NRL player. But the Aussie boxing legend has well-and-truly changed his tune, and he's now set to become a grandfather. Fenech's daughter Kayla has been dating Newcastle Knights centre Bradman Best for a number of years, and they announced last week they're expecting their first child. Kayla wrote on social media on Friday: "Baby Best due January 2026! We can't wait." Speaking to on Saturday, Jeff Fenech said he's delighted. 'They are so happy,' the 61-year-old said. 'And I'm so proud of both of them. Whether it's a boy or a girl, the baby is going to have some great genes. And they'll be great parents. Bradman is a great fella who will make a great dad.' Best has managed to convince Fenech that footy players aren't so bad after all. "I'd always warned my girls about going out with league players,' he said. 'I've been knocking around with footballers all my life. They're young and they love going out and having a good time. 'Bradman is such a decent person who treats my daughter beautifully. When we went to Newcastle to visit them, Bradman invited us in and said, 'Welcome to our house'. Not his house, their house. He's a great young man.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by KAYLA FENECH (@kaylaafenech) Fenech admitted last year he was fuming when Kayla told him she was dating an NRL player. 'When she rang and told me, I went off the deep end," he said. "I gave her a roasting. She kept trying to say 'Dad, he's a lovely guy'. Kayla was telling me every day how nice he was. Bradman knew I was angry, but he told Kayla 'I'll prove your dad wrong', and he has.' Kayla knew Best was different to the men her dad had warned her about. 'I said to dad at the beginning that you can't judge a book by its cover. Footy players can get a bad reputation. Bradman is so different," she said. 'Dad now loves him. He's a good person, very down to earth, and treats me really well. Just an all-round good person with a big heart. He's actually perfect." RELATED: Sydney Roosters lose promising young halfback to Bulldogs Warriors coach lodges complaint over Reece Walsh incident Fenech is Aussie boxing royalty - a scary prospect for anyone dating one of his two daughters. The 61-year-old won world titles in three weight divisions, holding the IBF bantamweight title from 1985 to 1987, the WBC super-bantamweight title from 1987 to 1988, and the WBC featherweight title from 1988 to 1990. Best has played 98 NRL games for Newcastle, as well as two State of Origin matches for NSW. He scored the winning try for the Blues in the 2024 decider, but has seen his 2025 season disrupted by a hamstring issue.

Ring in the new financial year with Binge's birthday offer — now 50% off for 5 months
With the cost of streaming services in Australia steadily rising, scoring a discount on a subscription is becoming rare. However, Australia's own Binge has just turned five, and to celebrate, it's offering a juicy discount on its Basic tier. From today (June 24) to June 30, Binge has slashed the price of its Basic subscription in half to just AU$5 p/m for five months — that's AU$25 total. This subscription usually retails at AU$50 over that time, so new and returning customers will save a massive 50% off. With some upcoming new originals, select on-demand sporting events, lifestyle content, and more available within, Binge's birthday offer is not one to miss. You'll need to act fast to nab this discounted offer, as this deal will end on June 30, 2025. Typically costing AU$10p/m for a Basic subscription, this Binge deal will save you AU$25 over the first five months. For a nice AU$5 per month, you can access all of Binge's content catalogue and stream in HD on one screen. Note that this is an ad-supported tier, meaning you'll experience around 5 minutes of advertisements for every hour of viewing. Despite losing the HBO catalogue in recent months with the launch of Max, Binge is still thriving on its own. A slate of new originals is heading to the platform, including the comedic documentary "SOLD! Who Broke the Australian Dream?" coming on July 21, which explores Australia's housing crisis. Notably, the recent mini-series "Mix Tape" has received rave reviews after its debut last month. The show stars Teresa Palmer and Jim Sturgess as Alison and Daniel, as the series moves between their teenage romance in Sheffield, England, in 1989, and modern-day reality as they reconnect through a song from their shared past. Binge is also home to "Colin from Accounts", "The Last Anniversary", which is based on a Liane Moriarty novel of the same name, and new seasons of "Selling Houses Australia", "Mr Inbetween", "Real Housewives of Sydney", "The Twelve", and "Love It Or List It Australia". Binge likewise features some popular international series, including "Day of the Jackal", "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", and complete boxsets of fan favourites like "The Office" and "The Walking Dead". As for sports fans, select NRL and AFL games will be streamed live and available on-demand with no ad-breaks during play, thanks to an integration with sister site, Kayo Sports. And considering both Kayo tiers just experienced a price increase, with Binge, you can watch fan favourite games for as little as AU$5p/m until November. That means you'll be able to stream the NRL Grand Final on October 5 and the AFL Grand Final on September 27 for less. You beauty! But what does a Binge Basic subscription actually include? Here's what this discounted rate will get you: What you miss out on — compared to higher tiers — is the comfort of ad-free viewing and the ability to stream select titles in 4K resolution (a feature that's only available on Standard and Premium plans). If you're okay with watching up to 5 minutes of ads per hour, then this is a good way to access all of Binge's exclusive shows, movies, and sports. And if you find that the streamer isn't up your alley, you can always cancel your Binge subscription at any time.
