Govt buses operating from Panjapur revised ticket fare: CPI
Trichy: Communist Party of India (CPI) has alleged that Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation's mofussil and city buses operating from the Panjapur terminus have revised fares by Rs 5-10 per ticket without prior notice. "Economic air-conditioned buses operated from Trichy to Pudukkottai are collecting 70 instead of 60 per ticket. Similarly, the bypass rider buses have increased the ticket fare by 5. Both normal and express services have raised the fares," S Siva, CPI's Trichy urban district secretary, said. There is lack of clarity whether the distance commuted by TNSTC buses have increased or decreased after shifting to the Panjapur terminus on Trichy-Madurai NH. Municipal administration minister Nehru, while inaugurating the bus services from Panjapur on July 16, said a team headed by RTO would discuss the bus ticket fare revision, and until then same fares would be collected.

EPS a coward for inviting DMK allies to alliance: Minister K N Nehru
CHENNAI: DMK principal secretary and Municipal Administration Minister K N Nehru said that AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami was a coward who could not counter Union Home Minister Amit Shah's repeated remarks regarding a coalition government in the state. In a statement on Saturday, Nehru criticised Palaniswami for asking DMK allies to join his alliance. 'Speaking in Coimbatore, Palaniswami criticised the Communist parties, stating that they were fading away. He even questioned whether Communist parties still existed in Tamil Nadu. However, later, speaking in Chidambaram, he openly extended an invitation to Communist parties and the VCK to join his alliance. People are confused as to whether both speeches were made by the same person,' said Nehru. 'Knowing that the carpet rolled out by Palaniswami has the blood stain of the fascist BJP, the communists and VCK have rejected his invitation,' he added. 'As in 2021, when people rejected Palaniswami and his blatant lies, they will reject the AIADMK-BJP alliance in the 2026 elections too, and support CM M K Stalin. The Dravidian Model 2.0 government will continue,' he said.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Speaking at a mega convention organised by the Karnataka government, Kharge said, 'Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar is the architect of our Constitution, not Modi, not the RSS. If the Constitution is weakened, you (the BJP) will be finished. Congress has always upheld economic strength and social justice, working tirelessly from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, Assam to Gujarat.' Kharge alleged that the BJP-led Centre was 'selling off' Nehru-era public sector enterprises to corporates. 'The BJP is selling off factories that employed lakhs of workers to Adani and Ambani,' he said, adding that institutions like BHL and HMT were established during Nehru's time to strengthen India's public sector. 'But what has Modi or his followers contributed to Mysuru or Karnataka? They are only visible on TV from morning to night. In the past, prime ministers were not constantly on screen, making empty speeches,' Kharge said. He accused the Modi government of ignoring the needs of states like Karnataka and Manipur. 'Where is Karnataka's GST money? The Centre returns only 4% of what we deserve,' Kharge said, slamming the BJP for 'neglecting suffering states like Manipur.' Kharge also targeted BJP chief ministers, alleging that they have 'no voice' under PM Modi. 'In contrast, our CMs, Deputy CMs, MLAs—all engage with the people. Our party workers are on the ground, delivering guarantees and real progress,' he said. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'We fulfil our guarantees, unlike the BJP, whose promises have failed in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal. Even Modi's visits don't change that,' Kharge added. He said that Congress stands for development, justice, and accountability, while the BJP 'only talks, sells public assets, and ignores suffering people.'
