Gareth Bale confirms new Cardiff City takeover offer after seeing bid rejected
Gareth Bale has confirmed that the consortium he is fronting has tabled a new offer to purchase Cardiff City which he hopes the club's current owner, Vincent Tan, will 'take seriously'.
Bale, 35, is fronting a group of investors who are seeking to acquire his home club, who were relegated from the Championship last season. The Bluebirds have been owned by Tan since 2010 and its estimated the Malaysian businessman has invested north of £200million during his tenure.
It was reported earlier this month that an offer worth around £40m was put to Tan, who rejected said proposal and is understood to have little appetite to sell.
But Bale has now revealed that a 'brand new offer' has been put to the Cardiff chief in the hope of achieving a deal.
"It's exciting news, we have a brand new offer on the table, it's recently just gone in," the former Real Madrid and Wales star said on Front Office Sports Today.
"We think it's a great offer, one that we're very happy with. We think it's very fair, if not more than fair, and it's something we hope the current owners will take serious.
"We'd love them to accept so we can take full control and get on with what we want to do and create Cardiff into a club that we know it can be."
Though Bale never played for Cardiff in his stellar playing career, the Welshman has made no secret of his desire to acquire the club and help it fulfil its potential.
Cardiff will play in the third tier of English football for the first time since the 2002-03 campaign following their relegation last term but Bale and Co have aspirations of taking the club back into the Premier League should they succeed in a takeover.
He told Sky Sports in June: "It [Cardiff] is a club close to my heart. It's where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs.
"I know how amazing the Welsh fans and Cardiff fans are. It would be amazing to try and do something together.
"We are trying to engage with Cardiff and more news will come out on that in the future but hopefully we can get something done."

And without being definitive on it, we couldn't see any sign that Coady was among the players making the trip. "From a Rangers perspective, given the news we broke 24 hours ago – we did say that we would be in a position to give them more of a clue about the situation tonight. And at this time tonight, I think we've established that Rangers have got their eyes on a replacement, and there is no sign of Conor Coady is on Leicester's flight to Austria. "The significance of all of that is Rangers need to register their squad for Panathinaikos tomorrow night. Two players can be added to that 24 hours ahead of kickoff, so there is some leeway to make some late changes to that. "But in an ideal world for Russell Martin, and for Conor Coady, they'd like to be in a position to have his name on that list when it's registered with UEFA tomorrow night. Chelsea weigh up swoop for £40million Arsenal and Liverpool transfer target
Chelsea are still in the market for new signings and the Blues could soon swoop for an Ajax defender who has been on the radar of both Arsenal and Liverpool in the past 12 months Chelsea are understood to be mulling over a move for Jorrel Hato, the highly-rated Ajax defender who has previously been of interest to both Arsenal and Liverpool. The Blues are in the market for more quality reinforcements ahead of the new Premier League campaign and have seen their coffers significantly boosted by their ventures at the Club World Cup, which has netted them an estimated £97million. Deals for Liam Delap and Joao Pedro means Enzo Maresca already has far more depth in attack ahead of the 2025-26 season. And it's now emerged that Chelsea are keen on strengthening at the other end of the pitch before the transfer window shuts with a new defender on their summer wishlist. With that in mind, says that Hato, 19, is emerging as a serious target for Chelsea, though they are not the only English team who admire the Netherlands star. Liverpool are known to be big fans of the central defender, who can also operate at left-back. Arsenal, too, have previously been credited with an interest in Hato, who it's understood could be snapped up for around £40m this summer. It's Hato's versatility which seems to appeal to Chelsea, with the report adding that they are set to be without a natural left-back to provide competition and support for Marc Cucurella. That's because Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga and Ishe Samuels-Smith are all expected to depart this summer with the latter currently in talks over a move to the Blues' sister club, Strasbourg. Hato has made a big impression since breaking into the Ajax first-team and, as outlined above, has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League. The defender's presence at Anfield for a league game between Liverpool and Ipswich Town back in January only fuelled speculation that the Ajax star was primed to swap Amsterdam for Merseyside. But it was subsequently explained that Hato was simply at the game after being invited by his friend, Ryan Gravenberch. Speaking about transfer speculation previously, Hato said: "I read it all [the transfer rumours]. But I also know that not everything was right. "For my development it's best that I stay at Ajax now. I was invited by Ryan Gravenberch. But I didn't speak to a director there. Liverpool played well and the atmosphere in the stadium was good, but there is no more to say."

Bellingham to miss start of season after surgery
England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has undergone successful surgery for a long-standing shoulder 22-year-old is expected to miss the whole of Real's pre-season and at least the first six weeks of the campaign, which would include England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia in September.
